“Deliciously duplicitous. . . . equally as twisty, spellbinding, and addictive as Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl or Paula Hawkins’s The Girl on the Train.”—Library Journal (starred review)
Amber Patterson is fed up. She’s tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more—a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.
To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne—a socialite and philanthropist—and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.
Amber’s envy could eat her alive . . . if she didn’t have a plan. Amber uses Daphne’s compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family’s life—the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long, Amber is Daphne’s closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters, and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked towards, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces.
With shocking turns and dark secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end, The Last Mrs. Parrish is a fresh, juicy, and utterly addictive thriller from a diabolically imaginative talent.

Not as good as I expected. As the ending got closer it became predictable. It was intriguing enough in the beginning to put it on my TBR list.
The Last Mrs. Parrish is an AMAZING READ!!!! Just be prepared to do nothing else until you have finished the very last page!!!!
Amber is tired of the life she has lived, and she decides it is time to change all of that. She isn’t going to just be a wallflower anymore. She has spent years putting her plan in motion, and now, it’s time. Unfortunately, Daphne and her husband, Jackson are the target.
Amber truly exemplifies what a villain really is . She is full of envy, and it eats her up alive until all her darkness consumes her. She uses Daphne’s compassion to gain access to her family. She feels like everything that Daphne has should be hers, and she is going after it no matter what.
The genius of this book is that it is told in both Amber and Daphne POVs. The first part is narrated by Amber. It gives readers a deep look into her deranged mind. The second part is narrated by Daphne. Readers get a look into her life, and they discover that privilege and wealth isn’t all it appears to be. All I can say is the deeper you get into it, the more addictive it becomes.
This is a book filled with shocking twists and layers of deceit and secrets. It is somewhat of a slow build-up until you get to Part 2, and then buckle your seat belt because it is a FAST ride after that! Don’t lose patience because the build-up is completely worth it. It really is the foundation of the story and sets the tone for the rest of the book. If you are looking for a fast-paced psychological thriller, you can’t go wrong with this one.
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. A satisfying ending to a diabolical plot.
I thought the book was going one way, then it changed course. I loved this book.
Poorly written, bad story.
Well, well, well – those were some surprising twists, let me tell ya! Highly recommended.
As I always like to say, reviews are subjective. People give a range of 1 to 5 stars, and it’s all personal opinion. With that said, here is mine.
Okay, well, this was interesting. I actually wasn’t certain which way the author would take the story, which, as a writer, is unusual for me.
I liked the two different perspectives, Part 1 Amber, Part 2 Daphne, but feel it would have been masterful if there was a part 3 and have it from Jackson’s point of view, though I’m aware this would’ve been a difficult plight to project.
I’m certain the authors were trying to build up hatred for Amber, thus the lengthy first half, but I felt it could’ve delved deeper into her past. It was all left as a secret until the end. I understand that motive; however it didn’t give us enough depth into who this woman was.
Also, when we do find out her reasoning for her behavior, it isn’t disturbing enough, which means, her behavior is due entirely to her-sickness as a Sociopath. Since there is nothing tragic in her life, we realize she is born this way even though the author doesn’t allude to this.
I know the medical community isn’t certain if sociopathic behavior is from genes and most are born with this illness, or if it’s nurturing. Still, there isn’t enough background on either Jackson or Amber to give them a reason to behave as they do, so my take is they were both born this way. If the authors wanted us to think otherwise, they should’ve given us a reason.
What it boils down to is she’s a horrible sociopath that ends up with another horrible sociopath, and they deserve each other. Reminds me of the old saying, ‘Be careful what you wish for’ …
I did like how, in the first part, the marriage of Daphne and Jackson seemed like perfection – – a fairytale. He was the perfect husband, through Amber’s eyes. And it made us fall in love with him.
When the second half began, it was a jar to the system and emotions. To realize what a monster he is, is quite disturbing. That does make for good fiction writing, though.
My last thought is this almost reads better as a script written for the screen. I’m sure it would play out well as a movie, and it wouldn’t surprise me to eventually see it as such.
Wow…….Blew me Away !!
While I could understand the disdain of the not-wealthy for the excesses of the wealthy, about one-third through I was ready to give up on the scheming Amber and skim to the end. Am I glad I didn’t, because that was when things got REALLY interesting!
This book was extremely VIVID. The storytelling is incredible, and the (absolutely insane, literally psychopathic) characters feel real, which is extremely challenging. The first third of the book is told from the perspective of Amber, a con artist who is befriending Daphne in order to seduce her wealthy husband. The second third is told from the perspective of Daphne (the wife), and the last third alternates between the two. There’s not much else I can say without spoiling the plot, though I will say if you are triggered by ANY type of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual), please do not read this book. If you are okay with reading, know that this book is extremely well-written, features detailed, three-dimensional characters, and an surprising, twisted story that is worth a a go.
Careful what you want for, you just my get it and more. What a great read! Poetic justice at its finest. I love when things just work out best for the under-dogs in this world. Amazing story!
Wow! Love the twisted story line. Couldn’t put this book down. I hope they make a movie of it.
Boring and predictable
This book is an easy-read thriller, although anyone who is sensitive to verbal, emotional and sexual abuse I highly recommend avoiding this one.
LOVED This!!
This took me awhile to get into. 1/2 way through it picked up
I liked it.
Funny twist and some good old revenge! I enjoyed it a lot ,
This book is frightening in that there are people out there that are abusive and egocentric to the point if hurting others. It had a very satisfying ending which made it less difficult to read.
While the subject matter was lame the story was very well written and kept me going back for more until I finished the book! Not my usual but glad I read it as it was a difficult time of lockdown on our island home and this was a great distraction! Cheers!
