The story is original. The characters hold a reader’s interest and the reader sympathizes with the main characters. There are some sex scenes, but not on every page. The emotions are realistic as are the interactions between the hero and heroine showing often witty dialog.
A fun, quick and easy story about a rakehell of a third son whose life has no purpose, and a beautiful commoner, card sharp and heiress whose inheritance has the stipulation that she must become engaged to marry a titled man. The descriptions of anger and angst in h/H are quite good, because she, of course, dupes him into the engagement. And, of course, love conquers all, eventually.
