Inspired by the brave women of WWII, this is a moving and powerful novel of friendship, love and resilience for fans of My Name is Eva, The Alice Network and The Tattooist of Auschwitz.
A story of love not a story of a war… among the clouds, Juliet Caron’s life was one of courage, adventure – and a love torn apart by war. Every nook of her Cornish cottage is alive with memories just waiting to be discovered.
Katherine Henderson has escaped to Cornwall for Christmas, but she soon finds there is more to her holiday cottage than meets the eye. And on the eve of Juliet’s 100th birthday, Katherine is enlisted to make an old lady’s final Christmas wish come true…

A fabulous book you can lose yourself in. Loved every moment of it.
The Last Letter From Juliet by Melanie Hudson is a wonderful dual timeline interweaved to give the reader a captivating historical fiction, thrilling, suspenseful, and bittersweet story that is so great to read, time flew from beginning to end.
Current day Katherine and WWII Juliet storylines intercept and add to each other with ease. I loved both female characters and both of their stories. So many times one time frame takes away from the other, but this time both women’s stories perfectly fit together. I love this era and I love the ending for both women. It felt complete and satisfying.
Great read. 5/5 stars
I just knew from the very first page that I was going to love this book.
A dual timeline set in Cornwall during the present day and World War 2.
Katherine goes to stay in a cottage on the Cornish coast and discovers the memoirs of Juliet.
This well written and researched story had me laughing one moment, and crying the next. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Loved this book. It flowed from past to present very well. The characters were likable. Was hard to put down.
Even though it was kind of predictable, I so enjoyed this book. In fact, I was surprised how much I liked it, because I don’t read romantic books ever. But the historical aspect carried me through.
Fascinating and reads fast….totally brilliant writer!
This book gave me two stories in one, a format of dual timelines that I am growing to love. As in the best of this genre, the present-day lead character, Katherine, draws strength and inspiration from Juliet’s memoirs to step forward and change her own life for the better. Juliet’s story is an emotional exploration of extreme highs and lows while serving during WWII in one of the few ways that British female pilots could. The work wasn’t safe by any means, but it is the relationships built during those years that brought adventure, suspense, and heartbreak to Juliet and her co-laborers. I loved the characters and I hope to enjoy more similar works from this author.
I requested and voluntarily read an advanced review copy provided by the publisher via Netgalley. I offer my honest opinion in response.
This is a beautifully written story about a WWII female pilot who falls in love with a man, while marrying another man out of indebtedness. The story begins when a young woman visits her uncle in Cornwall for Christmas and stays in a vacant nearby cottage. She’s somewhat confused by all the little notes posted around the cottage, and when she also discovers a memoir of the very elderly recent occupant, she gets caught up in the woman’s amazing life and her bittersweet love story. This was an enjoyable escape to Angels Cove, where the usual Christmas spirit is lacking this season as the quirky residents bicker about adding an apostrophe to the town’s name.
I really enjoyed it.
Enjoyable
I loved it.
Loved the history-meets memorable characters in this book. The fascinating look at WWII in the Cornish coast was most interesting. I loved the heart-twisting of emotions from these characters that spoke to my own heart, my own sorrows. And i loved the ending; who doesn’t like a good finish?!
Very much one of the best reads I’ve had. Enjoyed it immensely.
One of the best books I’ve read this year. A modern-day woman discovers how much we can learn from those who went before us as she reads the memoirs of a remarkable WWII female pilot. Could not put it down.
Really interesting story about WWII women pilots. Two love stories cleaverly interwoven. Lovely descriptions of a turbulent time in the past and the power of the present moment.
I absolutely loved this book. It was wonderfully written, giving one an awesome insight into women fliers in WWII. You get a feel for their desire to fly in a man’s world and the danger they face each time they are given an assignment. One sees into the character of Juliet, her courage, bravery, her strength and ingenuity. You fall in love with her and Edward. Great story!
This is one of my favorite books EVER!!! Loved the characters, the story line, the history…..EVERYTHING! I went through quite a few Kleenexes at the end. The story has stuck with me since I read it. Loved every page!
WOW! This is an amazing love story with some awesome history to go with it. The story is But unfortunately I did need to take a 1/2 off for the editing.
I enjoyed the characters . It was romantic . I couldn’t put it down and will read again
This is a new classic! I loved the characters and dual timelines. Adored how they took a slice of history, made it personal by connecting different generations. This is a must-read folks!
