Hate at first sight—with an unwanted sizzling attraction thrown in?
If they lasted a week without killing each other—or tearing each other’s clothes off—it would be a miracle.
Dylan Montgomery spent his entire life cleaning up his brother’s messes—and the last one is a doozy. Taking in the niece he never knew existed is a big enough chore for a dedicated bachelor—dealing with the little … existed is a big enough chore for a dedicated bachelor—dealing with the little girl’s self-appointed guardian would try the patience of a saint.
Eve Stewart learned early in life that men are born liars. From what she could tell, Dylan wasn’t any different. Sure, he said all the right things, made all the right moves. And maybe his smile made her heart race in an uncomfortable way. But she didn’t trust him as far as she could throw him.

Dylan is tired of fixing his older brother’s messes. When his mother tasks him with finding his brother’s little daughter and bringing her home, he expects to find the girl, Daisy, and bring her back to Seattle. What he doesn’t expect is to find Eve, Daisy’s guardian. Eve is strong and independent, hard working. She has to be, she’s been on her own since she was sixteen. Eve won’t let Daisy go. She made a promise to Daisy’s mother to keep her safe. Can Dylan convince her to let Daisy go? As he gets to know Eve, can he ask her to let go?
This is another great book in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I have enjoyed all of the books in the series. Honestly, I have loved all of Mary J. Williams’ books!
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed Dylan and Eve’s story. Thrown together because of a cute little girl, both Dylan and Eve’s lives were changed forever. Dylan is direct and bossy and knows his worth. Eve is a fighter and is sassy and will do whatever she needs to to keep Daisy safe. As they butt heads they are simultaneously drawn to each other. The road is never easy but when a “Knight” finds their soulmate, nothing less than winning the championship is their goal.
This was a sweet read. Can’t wait to read Erin and Flynn’s book.
I just loved this story of unwanted attraction! Dylan is the wholesome nice guy who gets the great job picking up after his no good irresponsible brother and Eve well Eve is strong and snarky and doesn’t trust men. Throw in a little girl who needs a family , some mis trust, some animosity, some heartbreak and a journey to break through barriers and you get an awesome story of love. I just couldn’t put it down!
Dylan and Eve are another perfect couple in this phenomenal series. I adore them both so much.
Eve is a tough cookie and a fighter. Life has not dealt her the best hand so far. But maybe that will change when she meets Dylan and vice versa …
Dylan is a dreamboat. Hot and instantly in love with the two new girls in his life, despite the prejudices he had before meeting Eve …
He is swoon-worthy and caring … and my newest book boyfriend. 😉 And Petal aka Daisy? So adorable and precious!
I loved this book so much. It’s a page-turner that made me feel all warm and fuzzy!
This was one of my favorite books. I loved the love/hate relationship between Eve and Dylan. Dylan was bossy and Eve was feisty which made for lots of fireworks. Daisy was precious and Dylan and Eve were amazing with her. I’m so glad that everyone got their happy ending. This book brought out every emotion I have from tears to happiness. I highly recommend this book. Thanks Mary J Williams for another great book.
You have been picking up after your older brother for years. Enough is enough until your mom asks you to help…again. When you find out the extent of his latest issue, you feel you must get involved…but this is the last time. Dylan.
You have never felt safe and when you left home at sixteen, your mother was glad to see you go. Never one to stay in one place for long, now you’ve put down shallow roots for the good of someone else. Eve.
Dylan and Eve are both fabulous people. Even when it’s difficult to trust each other, they put away their animosity and put an innocent child first. Their love story grows out of the love they feel for the child and eventually the good they learn about each other.
I so enjoyed this story and am enjoying this whole series. More please.

Dylan discovers that his irresponsible older brother, Tanner, has a daughter. His mother tasks him with discovering her whereabouts and trying to bring her home. So Dylan heads to NM, where he encounters Eve, who has been raising Daisy, nicknamed Petal, since her mother committed suicide. Eve has been on her own for a long time, and works hard at being a good parent to Daisy, but fears Dylan will take her away.
Dylan and Eve start out disconnected. She recognizes Dylan from a photo that her friend kept of the two brothers. She’s determined to keep him at bay. Dylan is equally determined to get to know Daisy and if he can get Eve to smile along the way, everything will be wonderful! It takes her a while to warm up to Dylan, and he has to behave carefully, to earn Eve’s trust. The pacing and tension are perfect and keep the reader invested in the outcome. Dylan has a bit of an ego at times, and Eve can be somewhat focused on doing everything alone, but they finally each bend a bit and it really works!
I usually have a huge amount of dislike for alpha male characters who are always good for a one night stand and never want to commit to a woman. That is exactly who Dylan is. Never lets a woman get close enough for feelings, but wants them available for sex whenever he calls….no feelings involved. But….I couldn’t dislike him at all. I love him. As soon as he laid eyes on Eve no other woman made a blip on his radar. It had to be because Eve didn’t blink an eye in his direction. She tried her best to get away from him. Not because she wasn’t attracted to him though. After knowing him and realizing, like I did, that he was a great guy she couldn’t resist him. I loved their story. I couldn’t wait to finish it, but I didn’t want it to end!!!
I loved Dylan and Eve’s story and adore this series. Eve has spunk and Dylan, he beyond wonderful. I Loved every male character in this series. Every book that Mary writes is heart warming and terrific, she is a wonderful author.
