A great western romance! So good, I bought all the other books in this series. Loved the characters!
NV.
Another great story and the third in this series from Kate Pearce. I cant wait for the next one. The characters are so well written and I love how the story concentrates on the two main people, Ry and Avery but keeps the reader up to date with the rest of the family and friends. A brilliant read.
It was fairly enjoyable
This book is about Ry and Avery helping each other overcome their demons and falling in love. I liked them together. Even when they butt heads, there were enough cool heads around them to help them work through the problem.
The back story about the mystery of the brothers mom was almost as prominent as Ry and Avery’s story. As I said before, this can be read as a standalone, but I think you will enjoy it more if you read the books in order. Only because the mystery is interwoven into each brother’s storyline and it gives you a solid foundation for this book. If you read this book first, I believe you will want to backtrack and read the first two.
Avery had wrapped herself in her own comfort zone and was making no moves to move forward. Ry had left his twin on the rodeo circuit to forge a new path for himself, while shoving down his demons. They provided each other with enough strength to heal their wounds.
I liked the sense of family, strength, and renewed loyalty in this book. There was also an interesting twist to the storyline. This was a truly enjoyable read. Recommending this book is no problem.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy.
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the novel The Last Good Cowboy: Morgan Ranch book 3 by Kate Pearce and this review is given freely.
Ry dissatisfied with his twin’s substance abuse and upset with the traumatic memories searching for his mother reveals returns to the ranch to find peace and a purpose. Attraction at first sight results in Ry reuniting with his high school crush Avery only to find her changed as a result of a severe barrel racing accident. While this steamy romance centers mainly around Ry and Avery, there is drama involving both their families including a little sibling rivalry. This book ends in a cliffhanger.
Great series
I thought it was a very good book that I will read again.
Good subject and action.
I love this series and the Morgan men, all named after characters from old tv westerns (which I watched with my grandfather when I was young). The books really need to be read in order to understand the family dynamics and how what happened to the boys when they were young affected each differently and how they each coped. This book is about Ry (Rowdy Yates-think young Clint Eastwood). He is one of identical twins. He and his brother HW took off from the ranch at eighteen to follow the pro rodeo circuit. While HW has made his mark, Ry never really had the drive to succeed and has been supporting his brother, until he was tired of it all and came home. He had always had a thing for neighbor Avery Hayes, and comes home to find that after a horrible rodeo accident is no longer the vibrant young woman he knew. He is going to fix that. Meanwhile older brother Chase is still looking for their mother who disappeared with their baby sister when the boys were all still young. More is revealed about what exactly happened that fateful night. I received a ARC from netgalley.com.
I really enjoyed the continuation of the story of the Morgan family. This is the third book in this series that I have read. My only criticism of the book is the descriptive sex scenes. I realize that is a personal preference but I don’t enjoy reading the details.
Ry Morgan and Avery Hayes had grown up together in their small town. Ry had recently returned when his twin brother, HW, was shooting for the national title of bronc riding and Ry was no longer feeling that he needed to be a part of it. He had come home to the family ranch to help out.
Avery’s family owned the hotel in town and Avery had liked Ry for as long as she could remember. Then in high school, at Ry and HW’s senior prom, HW had stolen a kiss from Avery letting her believe he was Ry. She was humiliated and angry. Now that Ry was back in town, though, he seemed to be interested in her again. Avery had come home after a devastating barrel racing accident that left her with the need to learn to walk all over again and lucky to be alive. She hadn’t been near a horse since the accident and had no interest in doing so again. Ry wanted to help her get over her fear of horses and of him. Was that possible?
You’ll love the Morgan family as much as I do.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Get ready for another sexy Morgan brother! Yes, this is a standalone book however I highly recommend that you read the entire series. This family will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you happy. This story is about Ry Morgan, one of the twin brothers, and Avery Hayes, someone who went to school with the twins and yes, there is a backstory here.
There is so much I’d like to tell you however I would not do the story justice. Just as I did with Chase and Blue in the previous two stories, I fell in love with Ry. (Love all their names, btw, so be sure to catch the explanations when you read the stories.) He has to come to terms with leaving his twin to deal with his (twin’s) own life – for the very first time – and coming back “home” to Morgan Ranch and his brothers…and father…and more family drama. He turned out to be a great character, lots of depth and just enough bend to make me happy. Avery also has a tragic backstory that will break your heart BUT she is strong and willful and determined to live her life as she wishes. I found her strength to be a refreshing side of her character; I liked her. And Avery and Ry together? Get ready for the sparks! Avery’s family also has roles that they each play, like Ry’s does, but her character pulls her thru.
And the ending…get ready for a curveball that (for me) is the hook to the next story. Now I can’t wait to read more. But read The Last Good Cowboy and the previous two books; you won’t be sorry.
