Now his mother weeps in a police morgue. … just started his dream job on a superyacht for the ultra-rich. Now his mother weeps in a police morgue. Can Mags Mackenzie find her the answers?
Mags is desperate to escape the low-life drug dealers dragging her back towards organised crime. But she can never ignore a cry for help. The parents of this dead boy need the truth, and families can hold the darkest of secrets.
Roddy wasn’t the first to die on that yacht, but nobody will talk about the drowned lad. Why won’t the police call it murder? The ship disappears in the dead of night, untouchable now in international waters.
The next day, Roddy’s father is knifed in the street.
Mags gets an anonymous message… Look, Listen and Be Silent.
Silence isn’t an option. Is she ready for the fight of her life?

I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. This is a terrific, thrilling read. The characters are complicated (not in a bad way) and believable. And is quite often the case, I managed to start a series not at the beginning; this time with book 2. I didn’t find that to be much of a hindrance, except for one part and as the story moved on I was able to figure out who was who and so forth. However, I would recommend that the stories be read in order; they are much more enjoyable that way, I’m sure. There is plenty of action here and suspense. The story is a very good balance between character development and action/adventure. Mags is a great amateur sleuth who is not afraid to put herself out there to find the answers that her friend needs so desperately. This is one of those books that I found difficult to put down once I got started. I found myself doing the old “just one more chapter” routine, knowing that I was lying to myself. I read much later into the night than I should have, but I couldn’t seem to put it down. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. If you haven’t read these, make sure you do.
THE LAST DROWNING by DL Fitz feels real, with all the troubling issues of life, love and family and a past that keeps interfering with it all. There are plenty of interesting and complicated characters that will keep you reading steadily right to the end.
Mags’ husband filed for divorce and she’s been feeling lonely and a little depressed and not quite sure what to do with herself when the children are visiting their dad. When her babysitter’s son dies and there are no answers, she decides to go to Nice with them to help get answers and recover Roddy’s body. What they find is Roddy wasn’t the first to die from a super-yacht in the French Riviera. Questions at the local law enforcement leaves a feeling of incompetence or corruption, or maybe both. When Mags starts asking questions around Nice about a super-yacht it seems to just disappear overnight, now it’s in international waters somewhere. It also doesn’t take long for her past to catch up to her in the form of the Deviln’s wanting to work out a drug deal. What else could happen to turn her life upside down?
I did receive a copy if this ebook from the author and am leaving voluntary review.
The Last Drowning is a wonderfully well written, fast-paced thriller. This suspense-filled story will have you following Margaret Mags Mackenzie as she tries to solve Roddy’s murder. Read this page turner to find out if Mags will be able to solve the mystery whilst navigating the world of the super-rich. I couldn’t put it down. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Second book not counting the prequel. Mags is a housewife turned private investigator and let me tell you she’s good! Love the characters. You have some humor but definitely have suspense, I mean like on the edge of your seat suspense. When you think you have something it’s turns out you’re probably wrong.
I received this as an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
