Welcome to the Silicon Valley law firm of Tweedmore & Slyde, where multimillion-dollar deals are the order of the day, ambition runs high, and stabbing a colleague in the back could be taken all too literally.T&S is a hot firm making a bid to be a major national player when Leo Slyde—the company’s chief rainmaker, its king of the “billable hour”—is found stabbed to death in his corner … corner office. It falls to T&S’s brightest, most unjustifiably insecure young associate Howard Rickover to conduct a risky “inside job” for homicide detective Sarah Nelson. But can Howard flush out a wily murderer among lawyers who do not make it their practice to be caught unprepared—and still keep up with an associate’s impossible workload?
“Susan Wolfe is at her best depicting—and spoofing—the glitzy law firm scene. A lawyer herself, she serves her damages with skill and obvious glee.”
—The New York Times Book Review
“A world of captivating corruption…with a delicate blend of malice, suspense and sharp psychology, Wolfe winds up her story with a scene that explodes a number of myths.”
—San Francisco Chronicle

It was ok, not one of my favorites
I enjoyed the story and reading about the internal workings of a large legal firm. A
good plot twist that was a little complicated to keep tract of to my untrained legal mind. I would have liked a better ending to Sarah and Howard’s future. However, I did enjoy the story.
This book was re-released last year. It was written in 80’s and it is very dependent on the times. Would need to be completely revised to compete with current books .
The book was boring and the ending was like the ending of an Agatha Christy novel. I should have rated it a 2 star.
Started, gave up. just too confusing, just like the main character.
Just okay
I think the best word to describe this book is sweet. It is realistic, makes you want to keep on reading far beyond when you know you should roll over and go to sleep. The main character is so well done and your heart aches for him at times. It will be fun to see if a sequel again pairs him with the detective. Looking forward to it.
I would love to read more by this author. Wonderful characters, realistically cynical at times but basically a hopeful book. I loved the ‘romance” thread.
Fun book to read about lawyers.
Another lawyer book, but very well-written and engaging.
Gave up on this one. Lost interest in the story.
Characterization was interesting but the plot was fairly predictable. Well-written but it could benefit from a couple of dead ends or left turns in the storyline. Nice, quick read.
This is the clinical and informative look at the legal profession seen through the eyes of a beginner. Very enjoyable reading.
I found it very predictable and boring. Sorry. I couldn’t finish it.
had trouble getting in to it
Mainly for Attorneys.
Starts slow, keep reading to enjoy.
A fun legal thriller Good story line. Enjoyed the read.
Good behind the scenes picture of the money dance of corporate law.
This was very boring. Too many characters to keep track of and seemed to wander all over the place. I will usually finish a book because I just have to know the ending, but with this one I finally just put it down it was so bad.
