Welcome to the Silicon Valley law firm of Tweedmore & Slyde, where multimillion-dollar deals are the order of the day, ambition runs high, and stabbing a colleague in the back could be taken all too literally.T&S is a hot firm making a bid to be a major national player when Leo Slyde—the company’s chief rainmaker, its king of the “billable hour”—is found stabbed to death in his corner … corner office. It falls to T&S’s brightest, most unjustifiably insecure young associate Howard Rickover to conduct a risky “inside job” for homicide detective Sarah Nelson. But can Howard flush out a wily murderer among lawyers who do not make it their practice to be caught unprepared—and still keep up with an associate’s impossible workload?
“Susan Wolfe is at her best depicting—and spoofing—the glitzy law firm scene. A lawyer herself, she serves her damages with skill and obvious glee.”
—The New York Times Book Review
“A world of captivating corruption…with a delicate blend of malice, suspense and sharp psychology, Wolfe winds up her story with a scene that explodes a number of myths.”
—San Francisco Chronicle

I recomended this to a young lawyer friend – who is working “Billable Hours”…
Similar to another lawyer story about a senior member being killed (can’t remember it’s name). Good interplay between the Lawyer and the police investigator.
Surprising ending, interesting characters. A bit slow in the middle but worth it.
I only read books that grab my attention early & are enthralling This Book was not
I found it too bad to finish, depressing.
Relatable and an interesting who done it style.
Could not get past a few chapters…and life is too short to read books that are less than compelling.
I found this book much to slow. I love a good courtroom drama…but if a book has not caught my attention in four chapters…forget it! There are too many good books out there just waiting for someone to read them!!
Many, many characters, difficult to follow.
The plot was good but obviously written in the 80’s. Not really relevant today.
boring
Really is a good book to read about the goings on of a high class slimeball law firm. I worked for such a firm for 7 years in Ocean County NJ. The cast of characters was very similar to the those mentioned in the book. The only difference being the President or Managing Partner of my firm hasn’t blown his brains out yet. Since Susan Wolf was/is an attorney, she can definitely relate to the varied characters in a large law firm. She has it pegged right on. This was a good read, both informative & interesting. I don’t thing you will go wrong picking up this book. Enjoy the read & be sure not to turn your back on a slick, smiling, el lawyer.
Boring book. I couldn’t finish reading it which is unusual for me.
Seemed to be missing pages. A lot of non sequitur. Sorry was okay for an airplane trip.
I started this book but put it down to find something more to my liking. I did not find it sitting.
It was a fun book. A bit silly, but humorousl.
Not very well written.
ok but not super
It took me a while to get in to this book – felt like many characters to keep up with. About halfway through, it got very interesting to me
Just OK…I did finish it, but it was very predictable
Interesting but a little far fetched re how a new attorney on probation at his firm is trusted by an investigating police officer to become part of her official investigation. A few too many characters to keep up with as well. Still worth a read for crime sleuth readers.
