“The Last Amen” Is a absolutely unputdownable crime thriller that will have you up all night! You will love how C. C. Jameson weaves a detailed and, intricate plot, you’re guaranteed to be hooked from page one.
One of the best I’ve read this year!
Enjoyed the book. The plot was good, the story developed logically, and the characters were realistic.
A suspenseful thriller with twists and turns that kept my attention and often had me reading late into the night. I enjoyed this book right up to the last page and recommend it.
This novel is terrifying, gritty and openly descriptive of the torture these women received. At the same time, the victims and their families are presented in everyday terms. The reader is immediately pulled into the mind of the killer while not knowing who it is until the very end.
A “nice” village cozy where the evil priest thinks he’s saving young girls for heaven . Entertaining in the way of police procedurals–how do they follow all of the steps and not break down among themselves, keep their own families intact, and occasionally get some sleep?
Loved this fast paced book, great to curl up with and hard to put down
So sorry to think of a world where this happens. I couldn’t put it down, though.
Enjoyed characters & read rapidly. Kept my interest & ready for more.
Could not put down until finished!! VERY well done.
Couldn’t put it down, real page turner!
Very suspenseful. Likeable characters.
Good, well-written mystery.
You can always trust your clergyman, right? Not necessarily.

Detective Malvin Rosebud and his partner Detective Kate Murphy respond to the scene of a dead young woman. They suspect that her death was a murder. Kate is named as the detective in charge of the case. Her boss is hard driving and sometimes difficult to please.
Kate is also trying to overcome sleepless nights and harrowing nightmares surrounding the murders of her entire family several years earlier. Can she handle the pressure?
When more young women are murdered in the same way, the pressure mounts. Kate and Malvin’s team are working very hard to figure out the identity of the killer. Clearly, there is a connection to the local Catholic Church. There are three priests and a priest-in-training working there. As Kate set her eyes on a particular one of them, she is in for a huge surprise. A long distance telephone call gives them a vital clue to follow.
This book has action, suspense and a few surprises. It is well written and intelligent. By that I mean the language is productive and the focussed dialogue between the detectives really adds to the book. I liked Rosebud, but Kate, well, erm…not so much. I don’t know what it was about her. But then reading her story, I can see why she is driven.
This is my first CC Jameson novel and I do believe that I will try another.
I enjoyed this book. The characters have a lot of problems to chose from. Something for everyone. I think the therapy moved really fast. I’m not sure results would be that fast. But then, it’s a fast paced book. I liked the characters and am very interested to find out more about Kate’s parents murder. I received a free ebook for an honest review. Try this story, you’ll like it.
I haven’t read the earlier books but will be rectifying that shortly. This was a really good read. I love the main character, Kate, and am really looking forward to learning more about her. The mystery was really good with lots of suspects and red herrings. Love the interaction between the characters too.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Book 3, ‘The Last Amen’ is an unpredictable page turner that will keep you guessing till the end. All 3 books in this Kate Murphy series are great goodreads that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you enjoy reading ‘the unexpected’ and figuring out ‘who done it’ this book and the other 2 in this series are definitely for you!
This book was amazing! Great characters, fantastic plot with fast paced, exciting story telling. This story rocks the foundation of the trust that some people put in religious representatives. The end had twists and had my heart racing! Terrific read!
In this third book in the Detective Kate Murphy series, Kate is living with her boyfriend, Luke O’Brien and his mother Marjorie. Kate is called to the scene of a young woman who has been murdered and staged in bed holding a rosary. As Kate and her colleagues begin their investigation, another woman is found murdered and posed in the same way. There are no obvious connections between the women, so why have they been targeted? Kate knows that they are dealing with a serial killer and need to find him before there are more victims. Is the murderer someone who is killing based on his twisted religious beliefs? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
