Can she get him to believe in her?Lark is an empath, meaning that she can read people’s feelings but not their thoughts. When a small-town West Virginia police department hires her to help catch a serial killer, she is met with opposition at every turn – especially from the head detective on the case, Greg “Bull” Keenan. When Lark is at a murder scene, the vibes she gets from the victim literally … she gets from the victim literally knock her to the ground, reducing her to a helpless little girl. It seems Bull is the only one who can get through to her and comfort her during these episodes.
This might just lead to something more between the two of them – if only Bull would believe in her abilities.
Publisher’s Note: This steamy contemporary romance contains mystery, age play and elements of power exchange.

An unexpected special connection which he recognizes
So I was not sure what to expect when I decided to read The Lark and the Bull by Carolyn Faulkner. Because this book is novella length it means that the story-line is kept somewhat shallow with regards to the serial killer mystery but it does go into the fireworks that happen, both the good and bad type, between Lark and Bull. Add in some spanking, Dom/sub, Daddy/Little, sex and emotions and you have an interesting story about this couple.
For me this story would have worked better with added detail to the story about Lark, her abilities and also not rushing the ending. But on the whole the story is good and I liked it.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This book was exciting, terrifying, infuriating, heartbreaking and satisfying. Lark is an empath hired to help solve a string of murders. “Bull” Keenan is the detective in charge of the investigation and does not believe in Lark’s ability. To say they got off on the wrong foot is putting it mildly, but he calms the emotions all around her. Officer Holly Hobbs becomes her sidekick during the investigation and has seen how much it affects Lark. But when a fresh crime scene takes Lark so far down, Bull steps in and takes care of her. Lark has a lonely life and doesn’t get close to people…anyone actually. Bull is handsome and kind of a player but he has no emotional connections either. They could make a fantastic couple if only he could believe in what she does. All of the information she’s given them he gets hung up on serial killers usually being men and Lark is telling them it’s not. When Bull goes missing Lark will have to think outside the box to try to find him. It would be cool for Lark to have a case or two more with Bull there to help and protect her.
