All Portland vintage clothing store owner Joanna Hayworth wants to do is turn her back on the modern world and retreat into a carefully curated life of satin cocktail gowns, icy martinis, and old movies.
But when Joanna finds a key in a 1930s Lanvin coat cast off by an ex-showgirl, everything changes. The elderly woman turns up dead, and Joanna is pulled into a long-ago drama of back room … room deals, blackmail, and lost love. She must find a very real — and present day — killer before she becomes his next victim.

fun, light reading. Perfect beach book.
I really enjoyed this book. Likeable characters, good plot. The author left a couple of questions unanswered but maybe they’ll be addressed in a future book.
I really liked how the main character, Josie was developed. Who knew there was so much to know about vintage clothing? But it was a fun read, and you didn’t know what was coming next, which makes it a good book to recommend.
The main character has good intentions, but lacks common sense. This leads to many unbelievable actions and situations.
Love the fashion talk.
Great story with a thrift store – vintage clothing as location. Interesting. Author had to do a lot of research to get the details right. I learned a lot just reading it.
Liked all the books in the series!
Interesting enough to make me look forward to the next in the series!
I hoped I would like this book more. The vintage shop locale seemed promising, and I liked the characters, but the story became too familiar, and ultimately, I lost interest.
Just enough suspense..Very entertaining
Loved the details about the vintage clothes, but the plot was predictable. You needed a flow chart to keep track of the characters and their various motives.
Interesting insight into classic clothing as well as an entertaining light-weight mystery.
A delightful story with fun characters and a happy ending!
Fun book. Easy read but kept me coming back. Every time I thought I’d figured out what was going on, I was wrong! Great book!
I love vintage clothes and haunt thrift stores looking for unique things for me or my home. This is a very realistic view of the business and I loved the description of the politics! I felt like I as there is the story!!
Simple but clever if you like vintage clothes and somewhat naïve heroines.
Well written.
I enjoyed it and will read the others in the series. Good characters that you want to get to know. The story kept me guessing which is hard to do with cozy mysteries.
Enjoyable reading, but it was hard to pull for a protagonist who did such dumb things.
I enjoyed it except for the over-use of naming specific fashions by designer. Even though the story was about fashion, it became almost as if the author wanted to show how much she knew about the vintage designers rather than build up the characters or plot.
Overall, it was interesting and kind of different, rather unexpected twists and turns.
