All Portland vintage clothing store owner Joanna Hayworth wants to do is turn her back on the modern world and retreat into a carefully curated life of satin cocktail gowns, icy martinis, and old movies.
But when Joanna finds a key in a 1930s Lanvin coat cast off by an ex-showgirl, everything changes. The elderly woman turns up dead, and Joanna is pulled into a long-ago drama of back room … room deals, blackmail, and lost love. She must find a very real — and present day — killer before she becomes his next victim.

To be fair, I’m not very interested in mid century clothing. If you are, you might like this story. However the plot progress is generally reliant on the heroine making dumb mistakes and being saved by the oh so rugged male interest. In other words I think this story was trite and sexist.
Interesting following the life of a mink coat. Vintage clothing a new twist on the usual storylines.
I enjoyed this book
this was ok. I don’t understand why all these female characters these days are so leery of normal people, but don’t hesitate to run after shady characters. Not a total waste of time, but not a character that I care to “follow” again.
Enjoyed the fashion twist. Well defined characters.
Started off great but then main character did something so out of character it was not believable
Not for me
vintage cclothing and mysteries–who knew that could work but it did!
Good story with interesting characters
Loved it because it is set in the world of fashion, designers and vintage clothing!!
Unique characters
I haven’t finished it yet, but enjoying it.
I couldn’t get a real feel for any of the characters. They are a little underdeveloped, one dimensional characters.
The ending was not an ending. I thought there had to be pages missing. There was no closure. I know there is a second book in the series, but still, this was not a satisfying conclusion.
Lost interest and didn’t finish
Great mystery with some knowledge of vintage clothing and some history of Portland thrown in. I found myself Googling the clothing that was mentioned in the book. The heroine is down to earth and is able to find out tidbits of info without being obnoxious. Good characterization, very believable and loved the fact that the story unfolds in …
Fast interesting read
i wasn’t going to keep reading-right up til i finished it. it hooked me in and the plot twists kept me reasding

This was set in the Pacific Northwest and accurately portrayed the area. I enjoyed the main character’s love of vintage clothing, too. I kept trying to guess “who done it” and ended up being surprised.
I couldn’t get interested in it. Story premise sounded good, but it didn’t capture me in the first 5 chapters.
