What if?
What if the descendants of the Vikings who settled Greenland and went on to reach North America around the end of the first millennium had stayed?
Five hundred years later, would Christopher Columbus have arrived to the south of an eastern seaboard dotted with centuries old settlements and towns hosting devotees to Thor and Odin?
Might the Norse have gone on to build a nation as … to build a nation as dominant as the United States of our own world?
A thousand years after reaching Greenland, Vinland and Markland, would we still have had two world wars? What might the world look like? Where might the political and religious divides be drawn?
Welcome to Norse America.
At the turn of the first millennium:
Eskil, orphaned in war, but now a man, is leading his followers to found a settlement dedicated to Asgard’s gods in the newly discovered lands in the west. There, after tests, adventures and challenges, he will leave a legacy that will grow to become the strongest nation the world has ever seen.
The Landing is the first book in The United States of Vinland series and is an alternate history that begins the saga with the establishment of the first Markland halls.

Good story, great pace. I liked the Author’s style and look forward to reading more of his work.
This is a really good book. I’m ready for the sequel.
Loved this story! To think that our country as we know it could have easily been so different if these Norsemen had actually started it instead of the English and Dutch. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books that take this imagined world into modern day. I guess we wouldn’t know the difference if we’d always been calling America …
The plot was a little slow initially. But as the story progresses it becomes one of those books you do not want to set down.
Great way to spend a quiet day when there’s nothing else that requires your attention, instead of wasting time in front of the Boob tube.
But not the alternate history book I was hoping for.
I liked the premise of the what.ifs. pretty interesting to read about the hard times people endured at that time.
Very original, could have been true, and the world would have been much different now! Maybe even better!
Decent read i enjoyed
I liked it.
I really liked this alternative world view book – what would the U.S. be like if the founding fathers were Vikings who worshipped Viking gods rather than English Christians? You could also see in Book One the seeds ofthings to come a d some similarities between true history and this alt history. For example, two groups of Vikings differ i their …
It was an okay read but just not my thing!
Believable storyline, characters you can feel, and an easy read.
Really enjoyed it!
Though it was an interesting story, it ended in the pre-1600’s. I was hoping the story made it further into modern times.
Enjoyed it tremendously
Enjoyed the book.
