Once upon a time she became mine. Mine to destroy. I used to have it all.Successful career.Loving husband who adored me.A future full of possibilities.A perfect fairytale nothing could break.Until one day, life as I knew it was crushed into tiny little pieces.I was charged with a murder I didn’t commit. And no matter how much I begged for justice, no one believed me.Least of all the man who … justice, no one believed me.
Least of all the man who promised to stand by me through anything.
And the husband of the woman I allegedly killed?
He vowed for me to live in a hell on earth-and even then it wouldn’t be enough to atone for my sin.
His words rang in my ears every single day as life became an endless nightmare.
With time, I grew to hate him so much my heart burned from it.
Until three years later new evidence was found.
And everyone believed my truth.
I might be free but I’m still part of a twisted game the monster is playing.
And the only way I can survive in it?
Trust a man who I promised to hate till my last breath.

‘A day won’t go by that you won’t regret what you did. Prison is just the beginning, Phoenix.’
One accident dropped Phoenix Hale from her rainbow-build life, which was false when everyone she knew abandoned her to the clutches of Zachary King, a broken hearted man who was in a fit of rage ready to turn Phoenix’s life a disaster.
‘Zachary King could probably be considered the most handsome man I’ve ever seen with the dominant and powerful energy swirling around him, indicating that nothing in his life happens without his permission.
And if does… you pay dearly for it. My life is testament to that.’
Three years later losing everything to prison and finally walking free as an innocent she was ready to move on to another part of life. But it seems her tormentor and her ex-husband needed to express themself. Zach holds a secret whom he loves cherishingly and doesn’t regret the way he attained. Holding onto a piece of past both Zach knows he has done wrong and for that he was ready to atone.
This story is so amazing, the revenge and crime story was wonderfully obtained. The chemistry and sexual tension between the H and h plus the secondary characters were wonderfully personalized. I’m glad the book stands up to its title. Zach is definitely a sinner. I highly recommend this.
Oh my freaky god! This was so good a read I just didn’t wanted it to end. But alas every good story a has a perfect and beautiful ending. The Land Where Sinners Atone was a remarkable, beautiful, twisted read. I’m still not sure if Zachary deserves to atone for his sins. But what I can say is that he was definitely a broken dark soul and still beautiful at the same time. Love the writing love the story, love the cover and love the ending too this was just a beautiful remarkable read.
I love when a book is recommended to me and blows my expectations out of the water! That was this book ten fold and all I could do was let it consume me!
“I’m a survivor of many things, but even survivors know when to give up.”
Oh this book had me so intrigued…..from reading the blurb, to the gorgeous cover and then the incredible story that unfolded which left me stunned. Once I started reading this book I was captivated, I couldn’t stop reading, I had read through the first few chapters and knew this book would be a top read, it was just that UNPUTDOWNABLE! This is definitely one that would stay with me and one that I highly recommend.
“You’re a poison that’s slowly killing me from the inside out, a curse I don’t know how to break.”
Phoenix Hale is a woman that goes through hell and back after a devastating event changes her life but rises stronger and ready to start living her life again. Zachary King is the one man you will hate more than anything in this story wondering how he can redeem himself, until you don’t hate him, until you realize the relationship that forms between him and Phoenix is inevitable given their history. This book is an enemies to lovers, dark romance about forgiveness, finding love again and one that is an absolute MUST READ!
‘Love has the power to heal everything inside us, give new meaning to the world around us, while the person who understands you the most stays by your side.”
Speechless…Amazing…Twisted…
The Land Where Sinners Atone is wildly emotional, frustrating, and endearing in a distressing way. V.F. Mason did not take into consideration your feelings or heartstrings while writing this masterpiece. Not only did this story become mesmerizing while sucking you in, but it also laid every aspect of the book in perfect alignment to leave you guessing the move of each character.
I’m going to be very short in this recommendation because the synopsis already says too much (**in the reel find the synopsis**).
But I have so much feelings that you can’t imagine! For starters , WHAT A TREMENDOUS ,EVIL AND INSUPERABLE STORY!!!!.
The story begins when Phoenix is accused of murdering Zachary’s wife (billionaire is an understatement) , that not only jail and the sentence given to him catches up with him in his revenge for his wife’s death , Zachary has no mercy in anything as far as Phoenix is concerned , neither going jail , Neither losing his profession, nor being left without her husband (Sebastian, I hate him, I have no other word to describe his bad behavior and what he did to her) was left to her, their hearts will suffer when they read how she tells everything she lived, and that’s an understatement because Zachary is still able to get more out of her …. ..
Suspense , intrigue , madness , romance , angst , in this book you are going to find it all . And the twist o a psychopath has no limits and what you will discover, will leave you with your mouth open, from page one this story caught me and when I was reaching 80 percent I was saying to myself, how does this end? Who is the real killer? Who wants King destroyed? Who uses Phoenix to create such madness? Do you have a fix? Well I’m going to tell you it does, and one that was great.
It is one of the books I would read again without a doubt , and I want you to do so if you haven’t already , I look forward to your comments !!!!.
by V.F. Mason is just WOW! What a thriller!
I have never, in all of my hundreds of romance novels read a book like this. I am so blown away by this book! Just know that this is dark.
The first few chapters are some of the most gut wrenching, heartbreaking things you can read, but this book is so freaking amazing you cannot put it down! It has it all! Steam, suspense, enemy to lover, angst and the most torn feelings for love, lust, forgiveness, and hate.
I am in awe of how strong the female protagonist Phoenix is EVERYTHING! She is the strongest person to have to endure what she did. Phoenix is accused of murdering the wife of Zachary King. You are going to hate him. There’s no way not to. He will hate himself at the end of this book for his terrible actions.
Phoenix did not commit the crime that she was accused of but her husband and friends turned their backs on her anyway. Zachary was lost in his grief and took it out on her even though she didn’t do it. Now 3 years later, everyone knows she didn’t.
Things get complicated. The emotions are SO REAL! Zachary and Phoenix are soul mates brought together by one of the ugliest tragedies one can go through. Can Phoenix forgive Zach? Who is the actual killer? With the killer on the loose and Zach and Phoenix undeniably attracted to each other, there is no lack of excitement in this thrilling read!
Warning, this is NOT for the light of heart. Seriously.
Zach and Phoenix are the epitome of a roller coaster romance. This book was fraught with angst and such emotion that half the time I didn’t know whether to grab a Kleenex or beat the crap out of the H. If you’re looking for a dark romance with all the feels and some steamy scenes to boot, this is the romance for you. The characters were well developed and half of the time you weren’t sure who side to be on. Definitely a five star read for me and I will be picking up more books by this author.

This story consumed me from the very first chapter. It was beautifully written and so captivating. By chapter three I had already drained all my tears. LITERALLY. My heart chattered into tiny little pieces and that’s when I knew I’ll never be the same after this book.
You know when you read a magnificent book and everything changes for you. I could count in one hand the books that evoked this feeling in me, and this one was definitely one of them.
.
Let me tell you this, you are going to hate Zachary King so much that you would want him to be real so you can literally kill him. I kept wondering how the author is going to make him redeemable, like how?? But if you give him a chance just like I did, you’ll fall head over heels in love with him. Just like I did.

The story is about Phoenix who is accused of murdering the wife of the notorious billionaire Zachary King. Eventhough she claims she’s innocent, all evidence point at her. She ends up in prison losing her husband and all her friends for something she didn’t even do. But Zachary is not satisfied because she gets to live and the woman he loved died, he ends up doing something atrocious that hurts her in the worst possible way.
.
Three years later she’s found innocent and the real murderer is on the loose. Since she was his very first victim, he’s still not done with her and the only was to catch him is if she collaborates with Zachary.

As a character, I really loved her. No matter what life threw her way she kept fighting bach and she held to that silver lining of hope. And Zachary did atone his sins all thanks to the power of love and forgiveness.
Both of them were greatly hurt but at the end love prevailed.

To say this book was phenomenal would be A HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT.
This was my first read by .. and it won’t definitely be my last.
“If there was a land where sinners atoned. I would have taken her there and asked for forgiveness…”
One of those books that once you start, there’s no way you can’t stop thinking about it; a roller coaster that you can’t nor want to get down. Let me be honest, this book is dark, sinful, twisted and magnificent!!!
Phoenix at 29 had a successful career, a loving husband… she had it all, until one night; one accident put her world upside-down, and now she’s accused of killing the wife of one of the most powerful man in the world.
Zachary King has one thing in mind only, to destroy the woman who killed his wife; he will take every part of her soul until she feels she has nothing more and then he will take some more because that’s the only way he can avenge his wife. The Kings are one of the most influential families in the world so when someone wrongs any of them, there’s nothing in this world who could stop them from getting revenge.
But what happens when somehow new evidence resurfaces, one that makes Phoenix innocent, could the sins Zachary made be atoned? Fate has a special way of showing that if two souls belong to each other, the path that it takes for them to be together is not always ideal but is the one they have to cross even if neither believe in redemption.
This is my first book by V.F. Mason and I loved every page, it’s being a while since I’ve read this kind of deep meaning in a story, a dark romance that has so much more than meets the eye… My advice? Take the risk and sin, you might find the land where sinners atone.
Heart wrenching, twisted and chaotic!! Exciting!!
This was definitely an enemies to lovers romance. Phoenix and Zachary were placed together for a reason. One of them are supposed to atone. The connection between the characters took awhile to be seen. I wanted Phoenix to rage more. Make Zach work for it more but it wasn’t happening. I know that every enemies to lovers romance is different. Well most enemies to lovers romances are different. I just feel like this need to be an enemies to lovers that had a slow burn mixed in. Zach should have been the one to feel lost and hurt because of what he put Phoenix through. I would give the overall story a rating of 3.5/5.
This book is different than what I normally read and I must say, a great read and worth the detour. It is fully angst and drama. I did not see it coming when the villain was revealed at the end.
6 star read
This story was devastatingly beautiful.
The Land Where Sinners Atone was filled with fate and how she can raise her head and create chaos or serendipity. Phoenix, our heroine, is in a terrible situation until she meets a boy, Zach, and the story of her life alters forever. She drifts through life, doing the best with what she is given, and once again cataclysmic events change her life once again.
This story was heartbreaking and traumatic. The reader becomes swept up in the drama and unjustified events for Phoenix, feeling a desperate need for this woman to survive and endure.
This book is highly recommended!
So much tension and hurt and pain that I practically felt every emotion in this book. I felt for Phoenix and found myself hating Zach right along with her. There are secrets and twists you won’t see coming. Even when you think you have it figured out, it’s probably still wrong. The emotions coming from this book will have you gasping. But through it all, I loved Zach as well because he was also hurting and he did atone. I loved their chemistry and the passion they exuded.
I love this author with a passion. This book was no exception. You get drawn in like a voyeur to Phoenix and Bach’s life. Feeling like a part of their lives, watching and hoping they see the links and truths along the way. Screaming at them to see what’s going on, and grabbing hold of anything close by while gritting your teeth as the clues lead you and then down paths you weren’t expecting. I loved the odd nod to other books in this author’s bookcase too. If you love the dark and twisted with suspense thrown in for good measure this is the book for you. It really pulls at your heart strings in places, not wanting to see the pain that is suffered. A truly wonderful book.
5 agonizing stars!
ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review
I think in a long time, I haven’t read a book that was a roller coaster of emotions. The connection you have with the characters, each and every aspect, has a substantial and remarkable part of the story. The frustration you feel is enormous in this book, the innumerable amount of injustices, betrayals, and bad decision-making is enough to pull your hair. But let me tell you something, you connect with the characters so deeply, with their pain and anguish.
I don’t know how the author came to live such feelings and convey them so exceptionally well in words. Personally, I identified a lot with Phoenix, his enormous desire to see the good things in life despite all the bad things he has experienced. But with Zachary, oh Zachary, it was just a connection beyond words. You can feel their anger, sadness, thirst for revenge, and regret from the first minute.
This story is something that changes your perspective on pain, betrayal, and the real meaning of unconditional love and the ability to forgive.
OMG!!! What an outstanding amazing story that I could ñot put down even of I tried, it sucks you in and does not let go.
Phoenix is remarkable her strengh and will power was mindblowing as she faces very powerful tragic events that no one should ever face. I was not sure at first about Zachary he was ruthless and just plain vindictive but he grew on me and we see into his life and his heart, these two were amazing and written to perfection and not a story you will want go miss.
From page one, only one phrase kept repeating in my head… “WTF just happened!!?!?!?” I was brave in the beginning! This book took off like a whirlwind! I couldn’t keep up with all the “holy sh*t” moments! By chapter 3 I was bawling my eyes out but still brave. I was posting how much I loved this book so far on FB and daring the author to “bring it on” while clinging to my box of tissues! Ummm yeah, I should have kept my mouth shut because by chapter four V.F. Mason brought it and I doubted my confidence to get through this book unscathed! At no point in this book did I get bored or wish it would hurry along. I was intrigued, fascinated, and unable to take my eyes off the pages for fear of missing a vital clue! And the ending….holy freaking heck I didn’t see that coming!!!
Needless to say, this book was everything and then some! There’s no classifying this book because it is in a class of its own! V.F. Mason outdid herself with this one! If you’re looking for a no holds barred jealous/possessive alphahole that will blow all your boundaries to hades and back, look no further! Don’t ask questions just go in blind! You won’t regret it!
My heart bled for poor Phoenix and the living hell she endured abandoned by everyone and not a single soul on her side that believed in her innocence.
This really was emotional stuff and I was deeply invested in the unfolding story.
My heart continually broke for Phoenix’s pain and it was only the sheer strength of her will that propelled her through her nightmares.
Her compassion and heart shining through like a beacon.
Zach was a complex one while I understood why he’d behaved the way he had and I hurt for his pain in losing his wife.
I still wanted to annihilate him and grind him into the dust beneath my feet.
I wanted Him to get down on his knees and beg Phoenix for her forgiveness his previous actions outweighing my sympathy.
The deep guilt he felt after the fact was small atonement for his sins.
But at the same time, his holding himself accountable for his past deed’s knowing he had done wrong and he himself is a fixture in Phoenix’s nightmares in itself was a punishment.
This was passionate and intense and oh so tragic but also deeply emotional and eventually healing.
It was a rollercoaster of such intensity.
A backwards journey to an elusive happiness.
I hadn’t the foggiest who the unsub actually was and did change my mind constantly.
I had suspicions but nothing concrete and this kept me guessing right till the very end.
I’m glad that Zachary came through for Phoenix and despite my initial anger in his direction I couldn’t help but fall for him.
When he loves he does it with his entire being his heart and his soul.
I ended up adoring them both equally.
This was fantastically intense and so enthralling.
A massive thumbs up from me.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of The Land Where Sinners Atone.

Phoenix Hale feels all alone. Zachary King wants what he wants no matter what anyone says. This was a story that I could picture playing out in the real world. Then it would end up as a show on either Oxygen or the ID Network.
Having this told in the first person, you will see Phoenix’s life through her eyes and Zachary’s through his mind. If you have a soft heart be warned that what our author has created can get graphic enough that you will have no trouble having the scenes play out in your mind. At the very least, you may not want to read it before going to bed.
There comes a time when it seems like the author wants to take her readers to a very dark place. Then it seems like a lightswitch has been flipped when a new character is introduced. That makes all the darkness worth it – it turns it into a moment where you can’t put the book down. And that’s exactly what happened to me.
We recently had a bad storm in the area where I live. If there’s one story that you will want to read again it would be this one. If you like to set the tone as you’re reading, a storm like we had would be a perfect choice. Just like the story; it starts by getting dark, then the wind starts to kick up and starts to pour but eventually everything stops and it begins to clear. This book may also give you the incentive to check out more of this author’s work. For me it just means that I have a lot more reading to do.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
