Enjoyed this one a lot. I almost dropped out when I realized it was going to be a setup that I generally don’t like (the whole secret past thing). But in this case I decided to stick with it and it paid off.
Great couple, love their dynamic. Can we say handcuffs? That bit was great.
Lady Pandora “Penny” Blackwood was a spy during the Napoleonic ‘wars. She gave up espionage for love. She shared everything with her husband except the truth of her past. Twelve joyous years and three children later, her dark history rises to threaten everything she holds dear. She must face her greatest fear and learn if her husband can love her for who she really is. Her husband, former officer Marcus Harrington, Marquess of Blackwood, did not believe in love until he met Penny. She was his devoted marchioness by day and his sensual wanton by night. She was everything he ever wanted, but her betrayal shattered him. When his world comes crashing down, he is left to question if their perfect marriage was real or just a dream. – I cannot imagine surviving the things Penny went through as a child. She is smart, determined, and resilient. Marcus is a war hero, dependable and respectful. Their story is endearing. I liked the thoroughness of the story. It is interesting and well written.
What a wonderful book and story. Love strong and smart characters in this book. Thank you
Would have been 5 stars if the storyline didn’t jump back & forth in time.
I am enjoying this series and this book was very good!
I actually like the story
The sex stuff not so much. I love a good raunchy story but the sex scenes are straight unrealistic and staged for an audience adult films. There’s no connection no heat it’s all body parts and naughty words. And if you want me to believe after 12 years of marriage that was their first 69 then you don’t get married sex. Married sex can get stale and boring but it can also be the best sex you ever have because you can explore your limits together. Anything you see, read, imagine can be explored with no worries about what that person will think of you–they love you warts and all. Plus you never know you could add something new to the toy chest.
Listen, I’ve been reading sex scenes since I was…well let’s just say I started earlier than I should have. I get a bit bored with them now but I don’t mind them. However, it seemed like half of this book was sex, and the other half was Marcus being obnoxious and Pandora not being herself. Not my cup of tea.
Too much foul language that di?d fit naturally into the story
Did not read much. Too much steam for me!
The Lady Who Came in from the Cold is an engaging steamy regency romance by Grace Callaway.
Pandora and Marcus were great characters bound by love and passion until he finds out his wife was a former spy and all he believed is shattered. Their way back to each other is well written and keeps you engaged.
Very good
Pretty good.
Loved this book. A different, well written read. Not your typical story. It was interesting and entertaining. A book I’d read twice!
Great read
Could have been an interesting storyline, but turned into another one of those stories where the protagonist feels like she has to giiup all of her value to please her man.
I loved this series i really liked penny she was strong smart i liked their love story
Thoroughly enjoyed being on the edge of my seat with the love/mystery mix.
The modern title describes the whole story–in several different ways. Not only has she been a spy, she is also of “low birth,” and other problems. The flashbacks in the story at first seemed confusing until I caught on to the dates on the chapter page. Duh! Then, the story flowed smoothly and became harder and harder to put down! I also like the fact that this story continued into the marriage and children and ended with a further extension of marriage! That is rare, but helps complete the story!
For twelve years and three sons, Penny and Marcus have had a very passionate and loving marriage, until Penny’s past as a spy for England is revealed to Marcus in a letter. Marcus feels their marriage has been a lie and his trust has been broken. The pain of their separation is worse than Penny could have ever imagined. Drastic times call for drastic measures to win Marcus back, as she reveals startling events that affected his own life. Explicit hot sex.
I think this is my favourite from the series
