Faith only wanted to be taken seriously… She never meant for things to get so out of hand, but men get funny ideas when a woman wears trousers. Miss Faith Baggington and her twin sister, Hope, are the youngest of the Baggington siblings. The family has high expectations for the twins’ entrance into society and their future marriages, but Faith Baggington doesn’t want to be only half of a matched … half of a matched set, and marriage is the furthest thing from her mind.
Faith longs to be taken seriously as an author and a playwright. With the invention of the pseudonym, Mr. Emerson, and a letter to a London printer it seems her dream is at hand, but a mix-up will have Faith donning a masculine visage in more than just name.
Hijinks ensue when Faith, disguised as Mr. Emerson, secretly attends the Baron Torsford’s Ball. Complications threaten Faith’s scheme, Hope must take her twin’s place, and if anyone should find out both girls would be ruined!
To make matters worse Faith is falling in love with the handsome Mr. Oscar Titherington, a well know rake and troublemaker, who has taken a liking to the young playwright, and has no idea Emerson is really Faith.
As if that were not enough, the twins’ eldest brother Isaac returns from London ahead of schedule and has no idea what his sisters have been up to. The twins are used to playacting each other, but Faith discovers that dealing with society and twisted love triangles can get bit tricky when you are a gentleman who is really a lady.
A riotous regency romp about a dramatic, adventure seeking, bluestocking girl who finds herself at the center of a not-so-average love triangle.

I enjoyed reading this heartwarming and humorous story. I like Faith, she is bold, independent and very smart but it’s a man’s world and refuses to ever marry. I like Oscar too, unbeknownst to him, he is instantly smitten, “blast and botheration”, lol. (Love that phrase.) Love how author allows them to build a friendship, her secret identity builds the intensity. Poor Isaac (their brother) has his hands full with this feisty & extremely clever set of twins. As Faith becomes a member of the “if you can’t beat them join them” club this rogue meets his match. I like how Oscar is so determined to marry Faith and that she is just as determined not to versus the ladies always having to be “overzealous” in their efforts to find a match. I love this family and I am glad to see each of them find love, rise above their family history & the society snobs. I received a copy at no cost and without obligation from the author
I loved this book! What a delightful, amusing, humorous tale of the youngest of the Baggington sisters, twins Faith and Hope, trying to turn their writing into a career. Only a man in their society can accomplish this. Faith creates Mr. Arthur Emerson with Hope’s help. They have their first work published and it receives huge accolades to the point it is suggested that the book be turned into a play. Nothing could have made Hope and Faith happier. But how? The twins turn Faith into Mr. Emerson. In the meantime, Mr. Oscar Titherington comes into Faith’s life. Oscar is a rake and a rogue. However, he is trying to mend his ways and become respectable again in polite society. Oscar’s only living relative, his grandfather, is ill and Oscar reevaluates his life knowing he will be alone when he passes. Not only that but will be taking on all of his grandfather’s enterprising businesses and estates. He has not thought of marriage until he meets Faith. She is a spitfire, filled with determination, honesty. She is guileless, unpretending and sincere. He is taken with the fact she is unlike any other woman he has ever met. This story is a page turning hysterical account of Faith aka Emerson and Oscar. There are delightful twists and turns in the story that make you fall more in love with the characters. This is a fun and exciting read and I do recommend it.
