Lady Sybil Anson thought she had it all. Even a match of the heart, despite so many London elite marrying for convenience. But the night before their betrothal was to become official, the love of her life vanished–with a hastily scrawled note and little more. She feared the worst as her heart ached for Gideon, and the scandal sheets simply made matters worse with their preposterous musings on … the hows and whys of Viscount Galway’s disappearance. Now, more than a year later, he’s unexpectedly back, and Sybil will have her answers.
Many, many years ago, Gideon Lyndon made a grave mistake. One he’s spent most of his adult life trying to rectify. And despite the progress made, the sacrifices were extensive and damaging. On the verge of repairing one misdeed, he finds himself faced with his greatest challenge yet: winning back the woman he has loved since the moment he met her. But after a year of silence, convincing his headstrong paramour to take him back will not be easy. Especially since he can’t even explain why he left–not if he wants to keep her safe.

The storyline is well written, unpredictable, with secrets, a bit of danger, sacrifices, mysteries and suspense, all of which pulls this impressive novella together, with heart pounding adventure. 4.5 stars – I originally read this novella as part of the anthology – It Started With a Whisper
Lady Sybil Anson and Gideon Lyndon, Viscount Galway are in love and soon to be betrothed. The night before the contracts are to be signed, Sybil visits Gideon and they share a passionate kiss and whispers of their hopes an dreams. They are interrupted by a late night visitor for Gideon. He kisses her goodbye and tells her he will see her tomorrow. But he never shows.
A year later, Sybil is on the verge of becoming betrothed again. She loved Gideon, but hasn’t heard from him since that night, save a cryptic note saying he would see her as soon as he could. She assumed he was dead, because nothing short of death would have kept them apart. But on the very night she is to accept the Duke of Garwood, Gideon returns to her. She wants answers before she will give him her heart again, but answers are the one thing Gideon cannot give her.
Will Gideon be able to win back the only woman he has ever loved, or will his secrets destroy any hope of a HEA?
Great story, loved Sybil and Gideon, no steam, secrets, angry brothers and bounty hunters and finally a very sweet HEA.
Wonderful story, lots of interesting historical facts and a really nasty villain, no steam, some violence and a HEA.
Another unique storyline. I loved the characters and the journey we traveled with them. The gossip rag entries was an enticing addition.
I received a free copy of this book in a boxset from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is a story of soulmates beating all odds. I was hooked from the start when he disappeared wondering what had happened. I wasn’t sure how it all would play out when he returned and I really liked how that spark was still in full force. When everything came out I was holding my breath afraid of what would happen, but it was perfect.
Sybil is nothing like the other girls and she doesn’t try to hide it. I loved her right away with how she did what she wanted and didn’t hold back anything. She wasn’t going to let him or anyone else control her life.
Gideon had an extremely good reason for leaving when he did and it hurt his heart to do it. I loved his reason for leaving and that he really wanted to tell her, but couldn’t. He knew that she wouldn’t stop until she found out why.

The Lady Loves a Scandal by Christina McKnight was originally in the anthology “It Started With a Whisper”. This delightful story brings Gideon Lyndon, Viscount Galway who is wanting to win back Sybil Anson’s affections. Having disappeared for over a year, he is trying to keep his secrets of why he left and keep Sybil safe. But as we all know, keeping secrets never works out! A lot of adventure with a mystery and bit of danger thrown in make this a page turner. A bumpy ride ensues as Gideon works hard to get Sybil back and have a happy ever after for them both. Christina McKnight always writes a great story full of engaging characters and sigh worthy heroes!
Great Read! I just loved The Lady Loves A Scandal by Christina McKnight! Christina is a very talented author and I have loved all of her books that I have read and this is no exception. This novella has everything I love in a story, romance, mystery, friendships, devotion and misunderstandings. The characters seem real and the descriptions so vivid that I found myself lost in the story. What I truly loved was the scandal newspaper clippings she added. It really brought out the feel for the story and what the scandal sheets were like back in 1815 London. Poor Lady Sybil Anson gets so confused and hurt when Gideon Lyndon, Viscount Galway disappear for a year the day before signing their marriage contract. I highly recommend you read this novella, you wont be disappointed!!
