Wow! What a great book. You can feel the sexual tension and the love that radiates from these two characters. There was intrigue and suspense waiting for the next thing to happen. Definitely pulls you in and you forget where you are. Love it.
Lady Elizabeth Scott is the daughter of a viscount and the granddaughter of an Earl. After the death of her father, she was taken in at grandfathers. She had a special gift that not only needed to be trained
but she tends to be reckless. She does not like to do what others say, even if it is for her own good. Her grandfather had been gathering gifted people to try to help her. When she first met Lord Julian Alexander, 8th Viscount of Beauchamp, he was fifteen and looked ragged. He had been living off the street because his father was so abusive. He could not take it any longer. Her gift was being a healer.
Not a physical one but one that people with Paranormal powers and somehow have been traumatized and need help. She could also see the aura of that person. His was to touch an object and then was pulled into the otherworld of someone who had previously touched it. He was also an excellent painter. He was her rescuer, caretaker, and warden. When they finally met again it was at the hotel she was staying at and it was on fire. She had gotten lost with all the smoke and soot from that fire and she was lost. He thought she had started the fire.
I loved the story, but it got slow in a couple of places and I had a little trouble getting into it again.
That is the only problem I had. I found it to be worthwhile and interesting. It was easy to read and the author kept you guessing throughout. Poor Julian had the responsibility of his title, looking for someplace that could house everybody in the league, and he had to take care of her that is a lot for one man to take care of. Oh, and he had to help everyone in the league and be able to rescue any new ones that needed help. If you like Paranormal powers, English, a little fun, be over eighteen, then I think you would love this book.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
WOW!!! What an amazing book! I love Historical Romance and this is one of the best I have read in a while. It’s sort of an unrequited, second-chance, action-packed, dramatically dangerous love story that revolves a group of psychics all rolled into one and set in Victorian England! The chemistry between Piper and Julian was unmistakable and the build-up of the danger to Piper created by the author kept me interested all the way throughout the book. Such a good book! This is another author that is going onto my favorites list and I will be watching for new books in this series to be released in the future!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book provided to me by NetGalley.
Piper and Julian have two opposite points of view on how to keep her safe. Piper plunges headfirst into situations without fully thinking through the consequences while Julian is terrified of losing her. Such a complicated story, riveting read.
Book one in the League of Lords series a well written story with a very good storyline the story flowed smoothly across the pages. Lady Piper Scott a Healer, and Viscount Julian Alexander, Lord Beauchamp two people that are meant to be together. There is suspense, drama, danger, kidnapping, magic, a villain, and romance. Once I finished reading I bought this book to read again some other time.
ONE EXTREMELY DELIGHTFUL TREAT!!!
Sensational! Tracy exposes all the havoc, anarchy and escapades running amuck, unveiling shenanigans and chaos, throwing this little fella into a tizzy with stunning results. Sparks fly as agitation, intrigue, tension and mounting suspense spirals, blasting this baby to life beautifully. Add angst, bedlam, distrust and treacherous situations along with a double-dose of calamity, make for one chart topping, prize winning adventure. A raging vortex of unscrupulous events and baffling circumstances, throw this bad boy into a churning tempest, blowing this little fella into a tailspin with an unbelievable, mind-blowing culmination. The attraction and chemistry sizzles as each layer is peeled back exposing a deep connection and amplifying affections, binding them together perfectly. The characters are authentic and original with qualities and traits that transforms into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions, as to give you a full understanding and realism that flows. Remarkable job Tracy, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
The Lady Is Trouble introduces us to a Regency world where paranormal abilities exist and shows how they cause grave challenges to those “gifted” with them. Because the gifted are young when their abilities tend to manifest, they give themselves away easily and have to deal with hatred and ostracism from those without paranormal talents. Into this setup comes Julian, the eighth Viscount Beauchamp, who’s been able to use his resources to start a haven for those with these special gifts. He’s met a number of people with talents, none more so than Piper Scott. The granddaughter of an earl, she has the exceptionally rare ability to heal and help with the mental trauma that so many of those paranormally gifted suffer from.
That’s because those who can read minds see all the ugliness in those minds. That’s because those who can see the future see the damage that could happen. That’s because those who can see the dead see how they suffered. Being paranormally gifted in Sumner’s world is a curse as well as a talent.
I liked the way Julian and Piper have long been drawn to one another and how Julian is struggling with a promise he made to Piper’s grandfather that he wouldn’t have a relationship with her. This is the crux of the story in The Lady Is Trouble, and the way these two are irresistibly pulled together made for a magnetic couple. I also loved Piper’s strength and how she has to work to prove to the men in her life that she can and must manage her own magic. Julian and Piper’s relationship is full of, frankly, wonderfully sexy moments.
The major drawback to The Lady Is Trouble is that you’re plunged into the middle of this world with little explanation from Sumner. Much of the past history of Piper and Julian is dribbled out to the reader over the course of the book, but the fact this couple has a history that’s alluded to and that there’s a steady stream of past actions in relation to the group of gifted people this book centers on makes the early part of The Lady Is Trouble really hard to understand. I hope readers persevere; things are made clear over the course of the book, but this takes quite some time to arrive. This challenge is what drove my rating down; it’s a 3 1/2-star book for me, but I rounded up to 4 stars due to the quality of the writing.
Sumner also nicely sets up some of the other residents in Julian’s haven who look to have their stories told in the future. I hope future books unfold in a more straightforward, explained fashion in this paranormal Regency world.
The Lady is Trouble by Tracy Sumner
League of Lords #1
In 1854 London there is a man working hard to create a safe place for those with “gifts” that usually see them in hiding or ensconced in insane asylums. As children the gifted child is often considered to have evil within and beating or torturing it out seems the best way to deal with the situation…I mean…evil would leave if it was uncomfortable in its host, right? The man who has a vision of a better place for these people with paranormal abilities is being set up by Viscount Julian Alexander – Lord Beauchamp. Further into the book I found that there were those that came before him that also were working to find a solution for the gifted.
Anyway…Julian is focused on his goal, collecting those that he finds and sending them to this safe haven and also dealing with the personal conflict of needing to protect and keep safe Lady Piper Scott while also feeling very strong rather positive lusty emotions for her. And, as the lady is equally if not more positively and lustily inclined toward Julian and not willing to wait any longer has ended up in London trying to get his attention and THAT is where this story begins…with him coming to find/rescue her (again?).
What I liked:
* It was different
* The paranormal elements
* Piper’s strength and ability to see what she wanted and go after it
* Julian’s protective nature – also liked him a LOT when he let his hair down…or took off his apparel
* The supporting characters that may get books of their own
* The possibilities for the series
* The thread of the “evil” person out to cause strife
What I didn’t like or thought could have been better or clearer:
* Perhaps a prologue that would have given a bit of a hint to what the book was about
* Using the current terms for each paranormal gift with a glossary might have helped as each person/gift was introduced
* A bit more backstory for the main characters
Did I enjoy this book? For the most part, yes
Would I read more in the series? Yes
Do I believe there is potential for the series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
3-4 Stars
Lady Elizabeth Scott (“Piper”), granddaughter of an Earl, and Julian Alexander, Viscount Beauchamp, have mystical talents which puts both of them outside the realm of acceptance by the society they are immersed in. Julian is trying to manage a League that will provide a “safe place” for those people with extra abilities. He has known Piper through her grandfather who had helped him understand and control his own abilities. Piper always cared for him, but it feels like he has forgotten her and she wants to change that. It takes time, but the reader will finally adjust to the flawed characters and be happy for them as they find each other and claim the place they belong.
Piper certainly keeps Julian busy with her antics. She is definitely not a typical Victorian lady! I do enjoy the paranormal element in the story line and this should be an interesting series once the reader gets through the introductory confusion and becomes more comfortable with the story’s direction.
The Lady is Trouble by Tracy Sumner is the First book in the League of Lords Series. This is the story of Julian Alexander and Piper Scott.
Piper’s grandfather saved Julian when he was younger struggling with his psychic powers and his life. Julian has always been grateful to him but then he was murdered and Julian took Piper away to hide her to keep her safe. Because people want to take her and use her healing powers for evil. Piper always had a crush on Julian and now years later after he has ‘forgotten’ about her she moves forward to prove that she should have potion with the League which is a group of people with talents like hers and Julian’s. Julian knows he can’t have Piper but he can’t seem not to want her either and of course her life becomes threaten again. Enjoyed this special themed historical romance.
TRACIE’S BOOK THE LADY IS TROUBLE IS VIVIDLY SENSATIONAL. THE PUSH AND PULL OF THE CHARACTERS HAD ME WANTING TO SCREAM ADVICE ASIF THEY WERE IN THE SAME ROOM AS I.
This is a story full of surprises set up in Victorian era…
Gothic, phychic gift anf love…
A lord with a dark past… a lady with healer gift…
An enjoyable plot that you will love…

This is the first book I’ve read by Tracy Sumner and although I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this book, it wasn’t long before I was engrossed in the story. The book is paced quite well and flows smoothly. You will find mystery, intrigue, evil, romance and passion in this book.
What caught my interest in the blurb was that not only is this a historical romance, but it is a historical romance with paranormal all through it. Two of my favorite genre’s combined. This combination made for a very good book in my opinion. This book also illustrates how society, even in modern times, treats those that are a bit different.
Our main characters in this book each display a gift, or curse as some view it. Julian’s gift allows him to receive a vision when he touches an object. Julian’s gift is growing, and with it, his fear of becoming trapped in the otherworld he steps into when receiving a vision Piper’s gift is of healing. With a touch, she can help the gifted with the chaos that is their lives. Her touch can guide them on how to harness their gifts. Julian has always refused Piper’s assistance, but he has come to realize that she may be the only one who can help him.
Piper has loved Julian since the moment he stepped from her grandfathers carriage. Julian fell in love with Piper as soon as he held her locket, before he’d even laid eyes on her. But a promise made to her dying grandfather prevented Julian from claiming Piper as his own, even though he longed to do so. Instead, he vowed to protect her and keep her from harm and those that would wish to use her gift for their own benefit. But what if her grandfather was wrong?
If you enjoy historical romance and/or paranormal, give this book a try.

The Lady is Trouble (League of Lords) by Tracy Summer, is a new series for the Lords historical series. Set in the splendor, gothic, and mystical Victorian England.
Julian Alexander, Lord Beauchamp, who has mystical psychic gift that separates him from the ton. Lady Piper Scott, aka Scandalous Scot, named thus by the ton. Piper is a psychic firebrand and trouble.
Well written and well crafted. The characters are engaging and interesting. Although, the beginning is a bit confusing, I feel THE LADY IS TROUBLE is a tale of sizzling encounters, seduction, intrigue, mysticism and paranormal abilities with a captivating love affair.
Piper and Julian’s story is tantalizing, sizzling and a battle of the sexes.
Overall, THE LADY IS TROUBLE, has twists and turns, mystical and paranormal abilities with sensual tension between Piper and Julian, which leads to a consuming and entertaining tale.
Readers are sure to enjoy this tale of mystical danger, a love story, a very entertaining read twith all the sizzle some readers enjoy. Strongly recommended! I absolutely enjoyed this tale with many facets and characters who grabbed my attention. Enjoyable and satisfying read!

He’s a viscount with a dark past who yearns for the one woman he can’t have. She’s a psychic firebrand. Rebellious, spurned by society and determined to change his mind.
After three years of waiting for Julian Alexander to realize they are destined to be together, Lady Elizabeth Scott aka Piper takes matters into her own hands. Because her gift as a healer has never done anything but distance her from the most principled man in England. Julian Alexander, Lord Beauchamp, battled his way from the lowliest slum to assume his title. He carries not only a turbulent past, but a mystical psychic gift that separates him from society. Honourable to his core, he is committed to protecting a community of outcasts with abilities like his own.
This is the first in a new series & I must admit I struggled with the first few pages & felt like I was in a fog. However I persevered & I’m so glad I did as I was soon engrossed. A well written book that flowed well. The characters are well portrayed & have plenty of depth. It took me some time to like Julian & Piper but the further I delved into the book the more I liked them. The combination of romance with the supernatural was refreshing & it worked. I look forward to more in the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
This is such a great book. Lots of emotion, suspense, drama, intrigue and so much more. They want each other but there is so much to overcome to get to where they want. The road to love is never easy as they find out. I thought it was well written and highly recommended. It is an attention grabbing, enjoyable read. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
The book is full of people who have special gifts that have caused the majority of them to be outcast even from their own family. Julian is trying to establish a residence where he and others like himself can live in peace and learn to deal with their unique gifts. Piper is one of three healers who has been documented to have been born since the 1500’s and her life is in danger because of this gift. Julian has loved her since he met her and is determined to keep her and the others safe. The story is s beautiful love story but one where he denies himself his happiness with Piper. As her life is in danger, he comes to realize he needs to be with her. The story is well written with a different twist to most love stories. I would highly recommend it as a great read. Hopefully, Finn and Ashcroft will be getting their own story in the near future.

What’s a defiant woman to do when the man she’s meant for doesn’t believe in love?
After three years of waiting for Julian Alexander to realize they are destined to be together, Lady Piper Scott takes matters into her own hands. Because her gift as a healer has never done anything but distance her from the most principled man in England. A meaningless diversion as a medium, all done to gain a certain wandering viscount’s attention, backfires. As most endeavors have for a woman known in the ton as Scandalous Scott.
What’s a reluctant viscount to do when the woman he can’t have becomes the woman he can’t live without?
Julian Alexander, Lord Beauchamp, battled his way from the lowliest slum to assume his title. He carries not only a turbulent past, but a mystical psychic gift that separates him from society. Honorable to his core, he is committed to protecting a community of outcasts with abilities like his own. He has no time, no place, for love. My review :
What a man to do when the woman he cares for is in danger and is unwilling to hide …
I confess I felt quite lost during the first pages, I did not know where I was, the thoughts of the characters were very confusing.
But I am so a fan of marvels and I loved the league of extraordinary gentlemen, I wanted to see where this story would lead me.
It was a difficult read, the slow beginning did not help, hopefully I loved all the side characters and now can’t wait for their own story.
It took me time, and even if the main couple are not my favorite heroes, I needed to know what may happen to them and their friends.
Piper is too reckless and a risk taker when everyone around her is trying to protect the asset she might be to their group. She is not some debutante fresh out the nursery, still she mostly acts like one.
Her lack of maturity was what drove me away from her, she might be shown as the most important paranormal, her endangering decisions and ineptitude to put aside her lust when Julian needs her soothing power gave mostly a picture of a spoiled brat than a confident efficient woman.
She always questioned his feelings when by his deeds, even when wrongly done, he proved again and again she was the queen of his heart.
Julian is far from perfect too but he lived a life filled only with pain and hurt, yet he never let madness take hold of him. Piper was his light in the dark, his salvation but because he does not know how his gift will evolve, he is not always able to differentiate between his deepest feelings, his lust and the attractiveness of her own gift. He is scared to hurt her, thus he keeps her at arms length.
What I can praise Piper is she runs after him, but with blinders, as she is unable to see past her own doubts. Why she often takes a step forward then two back.
This book is like a big cat and mouse game, Julian after the hiding gifted, Piper after Julian, Julian rescuing Piper, the villain after Piper, everyone after Piper and so on.
I felt like I was watching a pilot episode unfolding before me, the background plot presenting the full cast with two playmakers.
Still I want now to learn more about the many protagonists, Finn, Simon, Ashcroft, Humphrey, Minnie.
3.5 rounded up to 4 stars

Passions are building as the raging tempest swirls with emotions in The Lady is Trouble. It is one of those books you will love to read or not. I found that I loved the story between Julian and Piper. It’s a story of supernatural /magical elements. Tracy Sumner has given readers a book that is well-written, filled it with a magnificent cast of characters, a strong plot and great dialogue whichs bring this read together perfectly. Piper is a healer, a outspoken, vivacious hellion who makes a mess of things who has been in love with Julian forever! Julian a rake who needs contact to read people will not allow himself to get close to anyone especially Piper. He believes it will have unforseen catastrophic effects merging of their gifts. But Piper has other ideas and it becomes a battle of the sexes! But there is a evil who needs Piper to stop her ghastly visions of death and destruction, she is coming for Piper and her healing abilities and she won’t stop until she gets Piper. Julian will do anything to protect Piper and fight his feelings for her. It’s a rollercoaster ride of drama, threats, deception, trials and tribulations, a sizzling web of passion, secrets abound, with the suspense building and tension escalate, and twists and turns overwhelm you that make for one thrilling experience. Tracy Sumner has created a story that grabs you the first few pages and then you can’t put the book down until the end.
This book left me conflicted. To start, I want to say kudos for the basic plot idea. I thought the combo of historical romance and magic/supernatural elements was fresh and inspired. Once I read the blurb I was intrigued and very excited to read this book. Unfortunately, I feel that the end result never came close to achieving the potential it had because it was burdened by exceedingly unlikable characters. Julian and Piper were quite the pair. I really did not care for Julian’s behavior. Honestly, I thought he was quite simply a grade-A jerk. As for Piper, a strong, smart heroine she was not. I not only would have loved to see her exhibit more maturity, I expected it from her. Between the challenges she faced and her age, she came across as entirely too childish.
