“A superpowered twist on Victorian romance!” —Publishers Weekly This series? THE NEVERS + BRIDGERTON mashup! What’s a reluctant viscount to do when the woman he can’t have becomes the woman he can’t live without?Viscount Julian Alexander works dutifully to protect London’s outcast clairvoyants. But when the woman he’s sworn to keep from harm threatens to turn his orderly life and League of the … threatens to turn his orderly life and League of the gifted upside down, he finds himself craving her above all others. And with her brash American ways driving him to distraction, he fears the ensuing chaos could expose them all to danger.
Psychic healer Lady Piper Scott is tired of being ignored by the man she desires. In an impulsive bid to draw his attention, she slips her protective leash to pose as a medium for bored aristocrats. But when an arsonist turns the séance into an inferno, her plan simultaneously succeeds and fails when Julian flies into a rage… and then whisks her away to his mansion, alone.
Confronted with the woman’s implacable persistence, the handsome nobleman worries that giving into his heart will only inch her closer to those who would abuse her power. But Piper is more resolute than ever to prove her place is by his side, opposing their enemies together.
In the first in Tracy Sumner’s captivating League of Lords series, mysticism in Victorian England is the setting for a sizzling love affair . . .

I really enjoyed this book as it offered a paranormal twist on the usual historical romance. Julian and Piper are people with a “gift” that they don’t really understand and struggle to manage in a Victorian time. The characters are interesting and likeable. The secondary characters are intriguing and make you want to follow their stories. The plot is very well done with enough of suspense that you want to keep reading to the end. Overall an excellent read and I look forward to the rest of this interesting series
This is a great idea for a story set in 19th century England revolving around individuals blessed/cursed with psychic gifts.
What I liked: The characters were wonderful and developed into people I liked and wanted to know about. The set up wasn’t bogged down in the history but instead unfolded as the story progressed.
What I didn’t like: The descriptions of Julian’s eye color got ridiculous. The interruptions of the bedroom scenes with their thoughts was annoying. The story dragged in many places and I skipped a few pages here and there to move along. I found myself frequently checking how much was left to read.
Overall it was a good story and the characters were engaging, just be prepared to slog through some parts.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through BookSirens and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.
Good read. Will try to order sequels.
The paranormal aspects of the story were very appealing.
This is a very different story then I usually read. At first, I didn’t like Viscount Julian Alexander.
I found him cold and insensitive to Lady Piper Scott. But don’t stop reading as the story gets better with each chapter. There is a reason for his actions. Julia and Piper had known each other since childhood. Both have a ton of secrets and gifts. Piper’s grandfather started ‘The League of the Gifted”. He started it to keep Piper safe from those who want to use her. This is a place the outcast clairvoyants of London can feel safe and find help. Piper’s is able to help heal those with gifts. Her gift is very rare and there are some who will use her for their own good no matter what it does to her.
Being different in 1865 could get you killed or locked up or worst much worst.
Julian has taken over keeping the outcast safe. All except one half American/half English scamp, one Piper Scott. She is always finding her way into trouble. Piper is also the only women he wants and can’t have.
Anyone who like the paranormal and a different tale will love this book. There are promises made to those gone, secrets aplenty, attractions and feeling off the charts. All with plots, mystery, and lots of twist and tuns. The characters are wonderful. All will learn and grow thru out this book. The ending is both a surprise and wonderful but the Epilogue will have you both laughing and crying for all the right reason.
I hope you give it a chance, even thru the slow parts you will not be sorry.
The next book in the series “The Rake is Taken” is already out and looks to be as good if not better. It has one of my very favorite character from this book.
I will be reading it soon too.
This book was very hard to understand and follow along for the first few chapters. If you can get past the first 3-4 chapters, this book is written amazing well. It’s very detailed and makes you feel for the characters. I do however wish that the drama with piper and sidonie lasted longer. It was 1 chapter and it seemed rushed. However, the love story with piper and Julian was fun to read.
The Lady is Trouble is a Victorian Paranormal romantic fantasy about a collection of misfits joined together to learn to control their supernatural “gifts” in an environment where they are accepted as they are, rather than feared, beaten or hidden away. The empathic healer, Lady Elizabeth Piper Scott is the only one sufficiently skilled and strong enough to help the others come to terms with and control their talents. However, Piper fell head over heels in love with Julian Alexander, Lord Beauchamp, the Viscount and leader of this motley crew when they were teenagers, and he frankly doesn’t know what to do with her. This story is a battle of the sexes royale between this gorgeous seductive lady and the gentleman who believes he must protect her, needs her help to control his own strong talent, but is honor-bound not to become romantically involved with her. The colorful characters are drawn from a rich palette. Piper, nicknamed “Scandalous Scott” has a mind of her own and prizes independence. Julian is admired and revered by the makeshift family he has pieced together and become responsible for. The strong talents, need for each other and sexual tension make this fascinating story hard to put down until the very end. I thank Tracy for providing me a free advance review copy. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
It was a little slow starting but stick with it as it’s a great story. I thought it was going to be a Regency story only and then bam, supernatural stuff. Wow! Great couple, awesome secondary characters, interesting conflict and now I’m looking forward to the next book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
THE LADY IS TROUBLE is a historical romance with paranormal elements. Julian is the new Head of The League and has been for the past three years. Three years in which Piper was sent to live in Gloucestershire, supposedly for her own protection. Piper has always wanted Julian and he wants her but for a whispered deathbed warning from her grandfather. So Julian tries to resist her as Piper tries her hardest to be unresistable.
This was a great story with plenty of characters I would love to know more about. The premise of ordinary people having a talent that caused trouble for them or got them assigned to an asylum was a good one. The world-building was spot on and the disdain shown for the Ton was perfect.
The only thing for me is it dragged on just too much! There was constant back and forth between Piper and Julian, none of which really moved the story on. Instead, you have a big bad that you don’t really learn much about apart from surface work. I would have preferred more on her and less on those two.
With the abundance of characters, I am hoping this will become part of a series. I did enjoy the majority of it and therefore recommend it!

Archaeolibrarian – I Dig Good Books!
This is the story of Julian and Piper and has an unusual theme. Piper is smart and strong. They are destined to have a rocky path but do come to understand and love each other. I think if you are looking for something good that is not run of the mill, this is the book for you. Tracy is an author I look forward to reading since her books are very good.
Enjoyed this romantic suspense. I think this does a good job laying foundation for the series. Love Piper, she’s upfront, strong-will, smart, feisty and devoted to Julian. I think Julian has his hands full with her but protest a bit too much, they are very compatible and their attraction is irresistible. The supernatural elements are very intriguing and add intensity. Dangerous is slow walking them but love will always save the day.
The Lady is Trouble is a fantastic introduction to the League of Lords series. The characters in this world have supernatural gifts, unique and interactive. The League is designed to locate and assemble those who possess these gifts, and to give them a place to feel safe and learn to use and control their talents. Each of the characters in this story has a unique gift. Julian is a viscount, an artist, and the League’s leader. He has visions when he touches objects. Piper is the granddaughter of the League’s first leader. She is a healer. She is sweet, but has a talent for trouble, a lot of which is to get Julian’s attention. Julian resists their attraction, but chemistry between these sizzles. The villain is searching for Piper to make use of her healing power. Julian and the people gathered at his estate are trying to find this crazed villain and protect Piper. This story takes place in a fascinating and complex world. The characters are sympathetic, likeable, strong, brave, and loyal to each other. I like this little twist on the gothic and paranormal. I am looking forward to more.
4.5 Stars This romance is a about an original paranormal historical couple Julian Alexander, an English Load and Piper Scott the American granddaughter of an Earl. Both have paranormal gifts and Julian is trying to make a place where they and the others like them can be safe and live in peace.
They have quite the adventure to their HEA filled with stream, mystery and many interesting supporting characters.
I have also read Finn’s story “The Lady is Trouble”. This second book of the series is equally as good and both stories though they have interacting characters can be read as standalones because of the way they were written. I am eagerly awaiting the third book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy provided by the author.
A fabulous read kept me turning the pages late into the night. An interesting mix of regency romance with a dash of paranormal. I loved it! Julian and Piper were amazing together.
Once Upon A Sexy Time………
Julian Bauchmount and Piper Scott has supernatural powers. Piper can see peoples Aurora and Julian can connect with people after he touches the Item they held or touched. They hide their ”gifts” from the world because they would be put to jail or even worse. Julian saves Piper from herself at the beginning of the book when she almost exposes herself to the public as a physic to get Julian’s attention. Piper has been in love with Julian since she was a young girl. Julian has feelings for Piper, however, denies it until he kisses her and then vows never to touch her again. But he is losing that battle knowing he is still very attracted to Piper. This book reads like a sexy fairy-tale. From the handsome prince to the beautiful princess and the evil witch.lol. Except the Prince has supernatural powers as well. I loved it! The chemistry between Piper and Julian is very hot and the sex scenes are very steamy. The descriptions were a little long winded however, I plowed through to get back to the story. I didnt’t hink Julian was too hard on Piper. He was just trying to save her life. Lol. I am looking forward to finishing the second book. (I was reading the two books at the same time) Lol. I look forward to reading more from this author. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksirens.com and the author in exchange fon an honest review.

The Lady is Trouble is the first book in Tracey Sumner’s League of Lords series and is a paranormal historical romance set in the Victorian era.
I love paranoral historicals and so I had to read The Lady is Troublewhen I saw on it on BookSirens. Well-written paramormal historicals are typically quite limitied and so I cherish whenever I find one that can really pull me into the story.
All the charcaters are lovely and the two main characters had a great balance, even if Julian was incredibly stubborn. I really appreciated the way each characters’ gift in the book was depicted: the perfect blend of the fantastical and practical. Each gift had its own limitations and price to pay and that is what really made this story so wonderful for me. I would have found it disappointing if the characters had such incredible abilities but then weren’t tempered in anyway to give a sense of humanity and believability. Plus it would have given the book’s conflict no sense of danger.
The only critisms I would give are that it got off to a it of a slow start, but mainly I would say that there was a lot of buld up to the conflict with the book’s villian but yet the conflict itself was quite easily combatted and was covered in only a few pages. Therefore it wound up feeling a tad anti-climactic…but I still enjoyed how it turned out, so this wasn’t such a big deal for me.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal HR. I’m looking forward to starting the second book in the series telling Finn’s story, The Rake is Taken and will be starting it within the next few days.

I would like to thank BookSirens and Tracey Sumner for sharing a copy of The Lady is Trouble with me for reviewing purposes. This is my honest review.
Stunning historical romance with a touch of paranormal gifts!
Julian and Piper have one of the most complicated back story histories of any couple I can remember reading. They each have a different supernatural gift, and their acquaintance goes all the way back to her murdered grandfather, who taught them each how to manage their abilities while protecting themselves from those who would exploit them.
This is a delicately-balanced romance intertwined with an outside threat that stalks them. Both of them are tormented from within and struggling to let love heal their hearts. They certainly have chemistry in spades, a pure attraction that proves to be the guiding force they needed.
I purchased this one to read in advance of the second book, and I’m so glad I did. While each is a standalone romance, the connected story threads are woven throughout and really add depth and gravitas to this delightful fictional world. It’s a beautiful romance all by itself, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone who loves historical romances.
3.5 stars
This was a different type of book that I normally read but I was happy I gave it a try. It had a good story line and full of suspense, drama, and intrigue. A blend of magic and romance that drew you in and kept your attentions. The characters were great and perfect for each other.

Supernatural romance
Mysticism and the paranormal interact with love between Julian Alexander and Piper Scott. He’s a viscount, an artist and when he touches objects he has the ability to connect into the world of the previous owner(s). Lady Piper Scott is the granddaughter of an earl, has the ability to heal with a touch and loves Julian passionately. Their worlds interact and collide. An interesting first book in a new series which includes very passionate sex.
Worth the trouble.
Well this story definitely had a lot of cataloguing and smells. And a hero deep in denial. It also has a wonderful cast of characters each with his or her own supernatural ability. From the beginning Piper our heroine held true to her goal even when being treated like a child. Most of the time I don’t appreciate verses and quotes at the beginning of each chapter. The ones the author used in this book fit the chapters nicely. My favorite line in the book is in chapter seventeen “He didn’t love her enough, and she loved him too much”. Wonder read complete with a very happy ever after. I can’t wait to see what Finn gets up to in the next book
