When colonial Williamsburg explodes like a powder keg on the eve of the American Revolution, Lady Elisabeth “Liberty” Lawson is abandoned by her fiancé and suspected of being a spy for the hated British. No one comes to her aid save the Patriot Noble Rynallt, a man with formidable enemies of his own. Liberty is left with a terrible choice. Will the Virginia belle turned lacemaker side with the … radical revolutionaries, or stay true to her English roots? And at what cost?

Laura never disappoints! Her characters both historical and fictional are developed into her stories so well! I always enjoy her books!
Liked it least of all her books. SO MUCH history woven in the story it distracted from the story line.
One of, if not her best, and I think I ‘ve read all of t hem….just finished it a few days ago and would almost start it again…wonderful.
Historical fiction that sticks to the true history and places of Williamsburg, VA. The story was excellent and characters well formed and likeable or very unlikeable. Characters were true to the time period and very inspirational in their faith.
If you enjoy stories of the American Revolution, set in Williamsburg, and with a hero every mother dreams of for her daughter, The Lacemaker should be on your TBR list.
The author has set this story at the beginnings of the American Revolution and soon we are experiencing it up close and personal, and walk in both Elisabeth aka Liberty, and Nobel Rynallt a patriot, shoes.
We wonder for a little bit whether one or both of these people, that the author has made us care about, will live through the turmoil that is falling about them. The setting for this read is Virginia, and we are still under the Kings rule, but the beauty of the area is seen through the eyes of those we now care about.
I could just picture Liberty making her lace, what a beautiful talent, and I could see Nobel and his majestic horses, and made me want to live in this area, but with the war looming will it continue to exist as it is?
This is a read that would make a wonderful movie, and I felt I was watching as each chapter unfolded, once you pick this one up you will not want to put it down, you will have to know the outcome.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.
The Lacemaker is a romantic, it’s adorable in its own way and Faith followed story. You have poor lady Elizabeth (Liberty) was under the humongous thumb of her father. He tells her when to breathe, who to talk to and how to dress is a few examples. She meets Noble and she….. The book is waiting for you to read it and get the answers-and believe you me y’all it is so worth the fireworks or was there no fireworks? Did her dad approved? Her father does let her do a few things without his thumb on it, for example lacemaking is a big one, music and gardening are some others but most of all he lets her have her beliefs in GOD-Her religion. This story gets you so emotionally attached, heart tenderous is throughout- the verge of war is running throughout as well.- wow is there a lot going on. I received this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.
