Audiobook review
I loved this audiobook version of Krinar Code by Emma Castle. I thought that the narrator, Justine O. Keef did a fantastic job with both the main characters as well as with the secondary characters. I was planning on taking my time and only listening during my commute to and from work, but I was hooked into the storyline and I had to find out what happened.
It has been awhile since I’ve read a sci-fi romance so when the opportunity came to listen to this book, I snapped up the chance. This book is actually part of Anna Zaires’s Krinar World series, even though this is the first introduction for me, I did not have any issues understanding this storyline.
Krinar Code is the story of Seth/Sef and Harper King. Sef is a guardian of the Krinar, (explained as somewhere between a police officer and FBI) sent to Mason and Liam King’s bar to look into a possible Krinar resistance group. But he was not prepared for Harper King, the sister. He was immediately fascinated by her. In the 8000 years he has never wanted anything permanent before until Harper. But he had a job to do and as they grew closer every day, he knew the time was coming near when she found out the truth and end up hating him.
I adored Harper, she is still in so much pain over the loss of her parents and a hidden disability, but she is still such a caring and sweet individual. She is actually hilarious, some of the scenes after she finally is made aware of what was happening, had me smiling and laughing out loud. And even with her disability, she had this genius ability to understand some of the Krinar technology. She was definitely a fascinating character.
The love story between Sef and Harper was a bumpy ride, but the chemistry was scorching and Sef’s determination to keep Harper permanently was intense, she didn’t have a chance against him. The resistance group part of the book was resolved quickly, almost too quickly, but I was more invested in the romance story so I was okay with it.
This was only the second book by this author but I am definitely a fan. Krinar Code was filled with drama, action, humor and steamy chemistry.
Five years after the Krinar invasion of planet Earth, several Centers were created as a kind of mini city for these beings with advanced technology, beauty and superior physical strength.
Krinars were known for their tall, strong body, brown eyes and hair. So when Harper King, working as a waitress at her brothers’ bar, Mason and Liam, met a handsome, blond, blue-eyed man, she couldn’t imagine he was a Krinar.
Sef was there in disguise and in a mission
As a guardian, he needed to find out what the real danger was from the clandestine meetings that took place in the King Brothers’ bar depot.
Harper was not part of the resistance. She had her car repair shop, and although she was afraid of the Krinars, she didn’t hate them.
Her parents had died on K-day when a bomb exploded on the bridge that their car was on. That made her brothers have the Ks as sworn enemies, but Harper had other ideas about it.
The true was because of their invasion and their demand to close all meat industries, the city was suffering the consequences. Many traders have gone bankrupt because they were unable to adapt to the demands of only growing vegetables and fruits. Lawrence, Kansas, was becoming a ghost town.
However, Sef’s job was specific: figuring out what the resistance plans were and arresting the leaders.
He approached Harper, and introduced himself as Seth Jackson. He got work at the bar and even helped Harper in the repair shop.
Being around Harper made Sef/Seth understood why his twin brother, Soren, had almost put his job to waste because of a human.
Harper had something that made Sef be fascinated, and when he discovered some drawings she had made of krinar vessels, based solely on what she had seen through the news, it made him realize that she was a prodigy.
But most interesting was the way her mind worked. Harper had severe dyslexia; She could read but had a hard time causing strong headache. However, she was a genius in calculations.
When the plans of the resistance were discovered – which included using a krinar bomb to destroy the Kansas K Center – the meeting was overrun by the krinar guards and Harper’s brothers were also arrested.
She would do anything to see her brothers free… even to be Sef’s charl.
But Sef didn’t want Harper to stay with him over a bargain. Her blood was powerful to him, but he valued feelings even more; He wanted her to love him.
He had a job to do: find out the traitor’s name; In the meantime, he would do his best to show humans that the Krinars were not the real badguys of history, and would try to show Harper that despite their physical differences, they were destined to be together… forever.

Harper lost her parents the day the Krinar invaded but there’s something about the mysterious aliens that she finds irresistible. When a handsome stranger rescues her, she doesn’t realise he is a Krinar. Sef is working under cover and his mission is to infiltrate a resistance group and protect Krinar and human lives. He is not supposed to seduce the beautiful human female but he knows Harper is his destiny. When his identity is revealed, he blackmails Harper into agreeing to surrender to him. Has he ruined any chance they had of being together? Will Harper admit her feelings or choose her freedom over her heart? Harper and Sef feel a deep connection from the first time they see each other and their chemistry is off the charts! Sef is ruthless in his seduction and Harper doesn’t stand a chance against him! A steamy, entertaining read, with amazing characters!
This was a very emotional Sci-fi romance. This book focuses on Sef/Seth (Soren’s brother from The Krinar Eclipse) and Harper’s story. The engaging storyline keeps your attention with a entertaining blend of tension, suspense, danger, intrigue, drama, secrets, surprises and steam. Harper was a very likable and unique character. I thought she was easy to relate to and feel for. I liked Sef/Seth but I did have issues with his attitude and some of his actions. I did loved seeing him struggle with his feelings for Harper and doing his sworn duty. All together this is a very enjoyable read.
Krinar Guardian Sef has never considered any female he’d met someone to share forever with. That is, until Sef meets the curvy and beautiful Harper King. Too bad Sef’s trying to infiltrate the K resistance group run by Mason and Liam King, Harper’s brothers. Which means Harper’s off limits but after stealing a kiss, Sef can’t stay away. What happens when Harper finds out who Sef really is?
The Krinar Code is an action-packed, drama-filled and steamy story that you’ll read in one go
I love all books about the Krinar World. And I fell in love with this book.
This book is about Sef a Krinar commander who is sent to Lawrence, Kansas to infiltrate a resistance group.
Harper is a very intelligent mechanic that has her own shop that’s connected to her two older brothers bar. Her brothers are leaders in a resistance group.
When Sef helps Harper after a client in the bar hits her, everything changes for him.
Emma Castle did an amazing job, I love her work. She is without a doubt a incredible writer. Don’t miss out in The Krinar World.
We first meet Sef in The Krinar Eclipse (he’s Soren’s twin brother) he’s been altered to look more human, he’s been assigned to find, infiltrate and eliminate any resistance fighters that he comes across. But what he finds instead, is a beautiful thing woman on the wrong side of a human males fist!!!
Tending to her, he realises he may have just found a new toy!!! Krinar are rarely monogamous, but after seeing his brother happy with his “charl” that’s beloved or soulmate in his language, Sef wonders if it’s a one off.
Harper is a hard working human. By day she works in a garage as the mechanic, and in the evenings she works in the bar adjoined to the garage. The bar belongs to her family (her brothers usually run it) she helps out when she can, or when the brothers need her to fill in. Her brothers are resistant fighters. They have been ever since first contact was made, there were pockets of fighting, but no one is a match for the Krinar.
After saving Harper from a bar full of angry men, he tends to her bruised face. He’s annoyed that she doesn’t have protection. But seducing this tasty human shouldn’t be his priority, he needs to finds the resistance fighters in this area. But one taste won’t hurt, will it?
Finding out Seth is in fact a dreaded and feared Krinar, and it’s Sef both Seth is bad enough, but when he tells Harper that he knows her brothers are part of the resistance fighters, they will be found and they will be ended!!!! But he’s willing to negotiate…… be his for as long as he wants her, no resistance, her body is to be his and his alone, then he will forget he’s seen her brothers.
Harper likes Sef, but to be forced to be his….. her choice has been taken away, so it becomes a battle of wills, he may have her body ….. but her heart and soul!!! Never!!!!
Again it’s a short story from the author. (Same author just another Pen name) We get a little more information on both the resistance and the Krinar people. They think they are entitled to this planet, they find the resistance an irritation, but it’s growing, so things must be done. Enter our hero (another arrogant Krinar) Sef. (Twin to Soren)
I liked Harper, her dyslexia was handled well (too many authors can come across as unfeeling or condescending) she loved her family and there wasn’t nothing she wouldn’t do to save them.
We get a little more on the Krinar people. Cramming a lot of information into a novella is always difficult, how much to add, add too much and it just seemed jumbled. Could it be made longer? I think so, there was so much more we could have heard about. I like this world, and I’ll have to come back and visit it soon
I loved The Krinar Code. It is a world that takes you in and makes you wish it was real. Sef and Harper are our lead male/female team. Harper is sweet, caring, funny, super intelligent with a feisty side that doesn’t stop. Sef is strong, protective, loyal, caring and all alpha male. The chemistry between the two is super strong that it is felt throughout the story. This story has action, drama, with a touch of suspense, and of course hot romance. The story is extremely well written and it beautiful support characters. We get to see some of the characters from The Krinar Eclipse written by Lauren Smith, which is another fantastic story. You do not have to read one to understand the other but it definitely adds to the experience. This definitely worth reading and doesn’t disappoint. I voluntarily review an advanced reader copy of this book
4.5 Stars
Harper King is like most humans—she works hard at her job in her garage & part time in the family owned bar and does her best not to think too much about the Krinar. The mysterious aliens took over her planet five years ago, and since then, rumours have surrounded them… whispers of super strength and speed, incredible beauty, and advanced technology. Harper should hate them, since her parents died the day they invaded, but something about the infamous Krinar fascinates her.
Sef is supposed to be infiltrating a human resistance group but from the moment he sets eyes on Harper, he knows he must have her and will do anything to possess her.
Enthralling, engrossing it drew me in from the start & I read it in a sitting. Strong characters of depth who were very likeable. A fast paced story, Sef or Seth & Harper were drawn to each other like moths to a flame but he had a job to do that could serious jeopardise their budding relationship plus he definitely not who he says he is. My only quibble was that I felt the ending was rushed & things resolved too quickly but nevertheless a captivating read.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
