I love his books. So much action.
Anything that Joel writes – is incredible! I highly recommend Joel – he is an impressive person, as well as being an extremely talented Author. I’ve read all of his Books.
This book was a real page turner just like all of Joel Rosenberg’s books.
If you like international espionage stories, and you’re the patient type, this first installment of the trilogy is excellent. If you don’t like wading through 200 pages of back story to build characters (and there are a lot who won’t), this isn’t for you.
The scenario is realistic, the characters are deep (maybe too deep, see above), the action is not only plausible but rational, motivated, and accurate. You don’t have to suspend your disbelief. Everything makes logical sense. If you’re a history buff, as in recent history and current events, you’ll recognize much of the build up. The historical events up to the “big deal” are fairly accurate (the Trump-stand in coming to the aid of a NATO ally stretches credulity, but we’ll go with it for the story).
I would’ve given this book a five star rating except for one thing that is a big pain for me: it ends on a semi-cliffhanger. Whether the writer and/or publisher thought it was too long may have had something to do with it, but ending where it does really ticked me off. There was no resolution. With a story that deep and detailed, I expected the hero to return to a place (earthly or spiritually or thematically) where it all started, but no. It ends with the hero(s) literally up in the air.
If you don’t mind that, and you love international espionage, you’ll give it five stars.
Wow, what a ride. Never knew what was going to happen. Great Book.
As usual, Joel Rosenberg delivers an action-packed, relevant story pulled right out of current event headlines. I heartily recommend anything he writes!
Intrigue. Love the Russia connections.

Love this author
I highly recommend reading all of the books written by Joel Rosenberg. It always amazes me how realistic the books are and fitting with current affairs. He is an author who obviously has his finger on the pulse of conflicts in the Middle East and conflicts in U.S. politics.
Greal character development with a realistic scenario
It is in intense. One of Joel Rosenberg’s better novels.
