There are three little words most guys don’t want to hear on the first date. Not those…I mean these… “knock me up.”This single gal has had enough of the games, the BS and the endless chase. I know what I want most, and it’s not true love. It’s a bun in the oven, and I’m not afraid to hit up my s-e-x-on-a-stick co-worker to do the job. Ryder is gorgeous, witty and charming — and he’s also a … also a notorious commitment-phobe. That makes him the perfect candidate to make a deposit in the bank of me.
I won’t fall for him, he won’t fall for me, and there’s no way baby will make three.
Right?

There is so much to love about this friends to lovers romance! It is hilarious, hot & steamy and a new sexy alpha hero that you can’t help but fall in love with. Ryder is a successful author who helps men find the woman of their dreams. Since the breakup of his marriage he has lost his faith in the HEA. His boss is forcing him to find his romantic side again and come up with a dating guide. Ryder is at a loss at where to start. His sexy coworker and ping pong partner, Nicole, believes she isn’t made for love. She does feel her clock ticking and wants to have a baby tho. Handsome, smart, funny, Ryder has the perfect attributes to be the potential father. They come to an agreement to help each other out. But as they spend more time together going on the perfect dates and then trying to make a baby, their attraction grows. Will they be able to walk away when their ‘projects’ are completed without breaking their hearts and remain friends? I loved Ryder and Nicole together, their banter was witty, and their chemistry was explosive. They also complimented each other, feeling like two halves of a whole, completing each other. We were treated to cameos from characters from previous books which is always fun. There are also some intriguing twin brothers that I hope to read more about soon. I highly recommend this heartfelt, smart, funny, sweet and sexy romance!
Blakely rocked it yet again!
5 stars
I purchased the full length novel The Knocked Up Plan by Lauren Blakely and this review was given freely.
Coworkers, love skeptics. and ironically radio dating advice hosts, Nicole and Ryder team up to attain Nicole’s personal goal of motherhood and to save Ryder’s job.
Multiple steamy scenes, ping pong, a needy neighbor, and dogs with personality hold you interest while Nicole travels through her pregnancy and Nicole and Ryder fall in love.
I love when I finish a book with a big ole smile on my face! I loved this book so much! Omg, Ryder just made my day. He is just so amazing with Nicole. Eek, this book is giving me the warm fuzzies.
Top 5 Signs You’ve Just Finished a Lauren Blakely Book:
You can’t stop smiling.
Your cheeks are flushed (because: holy hotness).
You’re exhausted from staying up well past 2 am.
You’re eagerly scouring the end of the book to confirm certain minor characters will be getting their own book (which they will!).
You have a book hangover in which you’re convinced that no other book’s ending can make you this deliriously happy and perfectly satisfied (at least until Lauren Blakely’s next release…).
A new Lauren Blakely book = a new story and new characters to fall in love with. Plain and simple. After finishing her latest release, The Knocked Up Plan, all I could do was sit with a wide grin on my face, reliving the fan-your-face steamy, oh-so-adorable love story between protagonists, Ryder Lockhart and Nicole Powers. With The Knocked Up Plan, the author takes two single co-workers who are wildly attracted to each other, throws in a raging case of baby fever plus some overwhelmingly potent chemistry, and gives readers a not-so-accidental pregnancy romance, packed with humor, heat, and heart.
Told from the viewpoints of both Nicole and Ryder, The Knocked Up Plan follows the story of two radio hosts, one with a ticking biological clock and the other a self-professed commitment-phobe in need of a career boost. Within the first few pages of the book, I was pretty much in love with Ryder. Nicole’s description of her sex-on-a-stick co-worker is incredibly effusive and left absolutely nothing to the imagination. The guy is a Lauren Blakely hero so his dreaminess didn’t come as a surprise but that did have to be a record for how quickly the author had me drooling over a character I hadn’t even met! What also didn’t come as a surprise? That Ryder was Nicole’s ideal candidate to put a bun in her oven.
The combination of Nicole’s knocked up plan and Ryder’s ten-date work assignment makes their no-strings-attached arrangement slightly more complicated. What starts as a flirtatious, easygoing rapport, complete with witty, innuendo-laden banter, quickly becomes a wildly passionate, uninhibited affair. Emotions get involved, barriers are lowered, and lust overrides logic. With all the yo-yoing feelings, all I have to say is…thank goodness for dual perspectives. While the protagonists are individually agonizing over their inner struggles, we, the reader, are privy to their every unfiltered thought. It’s like being the first to discover a juicy secret and experiencing a whirlwind of emotions – hope, frustration, happiness, anguish – as the secret unfolds.
If you’re looking for a romance that’s sexy, sweet, and entertaining, The Knocked Up Plan is a heartwarming, fun-loving read and I can’t recommend it enough.

4.5 stars for this cute story!
I’m usually really into tropes that include babies because I think them/or other children bring a lot of hilarity to the story, and angst, too, because in a way they are just another obstacle for a couple trying to make their love work. This story was another beautiful baby-making , friends-to-lovers story, unique in ways. I really liked the easy friendship between the main characters, Nicole and Ryder, and the fact that they are two very liberal people with modern views and open-mindedness that I envy. And even though they are both in the world of coach dating/relationship & sex advising, both of them had been quite unlucky when it comes to love. And at 30 years old, Nicole is tired of waiting. She wants a baby, the only problem could be the fact that she wants Ryder to help her make that baby. Thus begins their sweet and sexy road of baby-making, friends-dating; the road to the unexpected falling in love. There was no drama, which was super great, but the story lacked a bit in intensity. It was fast-paced when it comes to physical attraction between characters, but very, very slow burn when it comes to love. Nevertheless, it doesn’t take much from the overall impression: this story is one to make you swoon and happy-sigh and wiggle your toes in excitement! It’s very fun, sweet, and incredibly sexy read (Ryder is dreamy!). I’d recommend it!
I have to say this book was so much more than I ever expected it to be! Gosh I love Lauren Blakely and her books are always swoon-worthy, only this was one step above her norm! For me, this had just the right amount of sweet, sex, and loveable story that I usually expect from Lauren. What I didn’t expect was to get all the feels that this book evoked from my head down to my toes and all the places in between!
Nicole is missing the one thing in life she wants more than anything, a baby. She’s successful, smart, and sassy! She doesn’t need a man in her life to give her this gift. So she decides to have one-on her own. Only after perusing the sperm banks, nothing clicks. Only when she starts thinking about her hot as sin co-worker, Ryder, does she realize he ticks every single last box she wants in a donor. Would he ever consider it?? Could she even ask him? No. Hmmm maybe….
Well we obviously knows she does ask Ryder and he accepts, but with a couple of changes. She needs a to help him with a couples dating guide and he gets to implant his swimmers himself-the old fashioned way! Oooh! Now the fun starts!
I highly recommend the audio book version as Sebastian York and Andi Arndt narrate it! York is ALWAYS dreamy to listen too, but Arndt was spectacular! She nailed Nicole and all the feelings that she encountered in her pregnancy journey. When she has the ability to make me laugh or cry-which I did both-that narrator brought a great book to life!
Lauren Blakely outdid herself with The Knocked Up Plan. I’ve added it to my “Read before you DIE” shelf and I suggest you read it now!
Devoured in one sitting. A quick, sexy read filled with witty banter. Ryder and Nicole have great chemistry which makes this a fun and enjoyable read.
Lauren Blakely has done it again with this book!! Each book is like a fine wine and just keeps getting better and better. Every time I think have a favorite leading man the next one sweeps me off my feet! The writing, her delivery is just perfect!! I was so emotionally invested with these characters right up to the very end. Not only is Lauren Blakely the Queen of Rom Com she can definitely make you feel everything! I laughed, smiled, sighed and swoon while reading this book. I have yet to read a book by this author that I haven’t LOVED and she has quickly become one of my favorites.
Ryder, Oh how I loved me some, Ryder! He was just everything in this book and he made my heart melt. Ryder was burnt before and figured this no strings baby making commitment would be the best thing for him. As time progresses he starts to fall for Nicole. The battle he had over his feelings wanted to make me reach in my Kindle and hug him. Watching him let his guard down and fall in love again was amazing. There wasn’t any he wouldn’t do for Nicole and their Papaya and it was so heartfelt and genuine. Nicole was a perfect match for Ryder as well. She didn’t believe love and an happily ever after was in the cards for her either. Watching her go through the motions had me in my feels as well. Blakely always seems to write the perfect match for each character. I don’t know how she does it but I’m not complaining!
Let’s talk babies/kids shall we? I love them. I really do. And that could quite possibly be because I don’t have any of my own. But I love my friends’ kids, my cousins’ kids, I love the cute baby videos I see floating around on FB. Babies are squishy and cuddly and I just love kissing all over their faces and blowing raspberries on their bellies. Heck, I don’t even mind changing diapers. But when it came down to the thought of reading a book that’s main focus was on pregnancy, specifically one woman’s quest to get pregnant, I was pretty sure that wouldn’t be my kind of thing. I was honestly hesitant to read this book. At least those were my feelings before I began reading The Knocked-Up Plan by Lauren Blakely. I should have known better.
Let me tell you, this book is so much more than just a story about one woman wanting to get knocked up! It’s a charming and romantic and swoony and sexy and dreamy love story. It’s about great friends who become even better friends, and then even more, while going through something so amazing and life-altering. This is the story of Nicole, a woman who’s at a point in her life where she really wants to have a baby, but with no baby daddy prospects on the horizon decides it’s time to take matters into her own hands. It’s about Ryder. Nicole’s handsome, charismatic, smart coworker and friend. Ryder, who checks off every mark in her book when it comes to the type of man she’d want to father her child. And it’s about their journey through all the ups and downs and joys and fears of not only pregnancy, but of dating and love and everything that goes with it.
Nicole and Ryder have definitely moved into my favorite couple category- I don’t want to separate Ryder out as a favorite Blakely book boyfriend because I just love these 2 together. They get along so wonderfully as friends, you can see the mutual admiration they have for each other, and as they “work” together to get Nicole pregnant you can just feel the chemistry starting to spark between them!
I’m once again wowed by Ms. Blakely and her ability to make me fall in love with every single one of her characters and stories. You’d think at some point there would have to be some kind of drop off, but nope. She continues to spoil readers with her sweet, sexy stories and I for one hope that doesn’t end any time soon.
All the Zings!
Oh sweet Papaya I loved this book! There is nothing like a book that makes you feel like you are falling in love right along with the characters in the story. It reminds me of 25 years ago and falling in love with hubby for the first time, I say first time because he never fails to make me fall in love with him over and over with things he does.
Amazing story, made me laugh and cry! It deserves way more stars!
Lauren Blakely, she has never done me wrong. I adore every single one of her books. The Knocked Up Plan was something I was not expecting but I’ve got to say, in my eyes, this is her best work yet.
Nicole is a single, professional woman whose biological clock is ticking. Loudly. She is looking for the perfect specimen to father her baby, no strings attached. Nicole just wants a donor and she thinks she’s found that in Ryder, her co-worker. He’s sweet, smart and his DNA would be top notch.
Ryder IS the epitome of the perfect man. Sexy, smart, genuine, but he’s also a man burned by his ex-wife. He was completely blindsided by her and the surprises that came along with her secrets. Ryder just wants to put it all in the past and move on with his life. He enjoys his work and enjoys spending time with his co-worker, Nicole. When Ryder needs to take his radio show in a different direction, taking a woman out on a few dates seems to be the way to go. And who other than Nicole to be that perfect person to help save his career!
She wants a baby, he wants a few dates to save his career. What could possibly go wrong??
Five amazing facts about The Knocked Up Plan…
1. Nicole and Ryder are magnificent together. This couple was everything!!
2. This book has all the emotions rolled into one..happiness, desire, hope, sadness and love.
3. Date night ideas!! I actually highlighted all the dates to show to my husband:) Thanks, Lauren!
4. The way Ryder sees the baby and Nicole? It is what every woman dreams of. And it’s perfection.
5. SEX. I’m sure if you have read a Lauren Blakely book, you know there is no need to wear panties because they are going to melt off anyway. This book was no exception. HOT! HOT! HOT!
I was so impressed with the characters and how they were with each other. Ryder and Nicole were truly friends first before everything else came along and I enjoyed that aspect of their relationship. There were no games, no silliness, just straight forward talk and understanding. And at the end of the book when Ryder let Nicole know exactly how he really felt? It was THE best part of the book.
Lauren Blakely hit a homerun with The Knocked Up Plan. This book was romantic, hilarious, sweet and sexy and I honestly cannot say enough about this book! 5+ stars all the way!!
This was my first book I read by Lauren Blakely and I don’t think I could have picked a better book!!! The romance and comedy in this book are amazing and so refreshing.
Nicole is a single woman and know exactly what she’s wanting and isn’t going to wait around for it either. The “arrangement” made with her co-worker Ryder isn’t the most conventional but they are best friends and it’s not going to mean anything right?? Nicole and Ryder are best friends and the story shows you that sometimes you never know when you’re going to find the one person who truly gets you. The entire tale of the baby and how it comes to be is refreshing. I find Nicole’s character a very strong woman who takes no shit and doesn’t need a man for her to have a happy and full life. Ryder is a man who no longer has faith the words like marriage and love all due to his past. He s a man who doesn’t get involved with anyone and to many is labeled as a “player” cause of this.
I think for many woman you’ll be able to relate to Nicole and what she is going thru at this period in her life while at the same time you will also understand Ryder’s fears and lack of faith in anything involving love. The two help one and other and find love in the least expected place. You will not be disappointed in this book and is the prefer rom-com to read. It’s both naughty, nice and funny. HIGHLY recommend this book!!!
Very cute and fun story!
Engaging, quick, easy read
This was a great feel good book. It made me laugh out loud and cry a few tears. It reminded me that Date night is so important and gave me some great ideas and ignited a fire that I thought was only smoking. So read this book and grab that someone special and have FUN.
Fantastic! This is one of the best romances I’ve read. It is simple in nature with fun, realistic characters and a storyline filled with all kinds of love leading to a true and everlasting love.
Nicole and Ryder are excellent characters that you can easily relate to. They’re smart, funny, respectful and romantic (even if they don’t realize it). Everything about them just works, the sex, the dates and the baby.
I absolutely believe this is a must read for anyone who loves a true love romance. It’s a don’t miss read.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
