The power of pleasure…Gabriel Miller took everything from me. My family. My innocence. My home. The only thing I have left is the determination to get back what’s mine.He thinks he’s beaten me. He thinks he’s won. What he doesn’t realize is that every pawn has the chance to become a queen. And the game has only just begun.
Love this trilogy. It’s violent, sadistic but that is overridden by the trust and love. Her virginity is auctioned off to save her father. Couldn’t put it down
This is 2nd book in series. Need to read The Pawn first and have The Castle available to read.
She knows she was a pawn. But she doesn’t know whose or why.
The right information at the wrong time…
Feeling like the pieces of the puzzle are sand slipping through her fingers. Learning that not only was she caught in the spiders web, but she is already in a cocoon.
When you think you know the game and it’s just the players changing…It must be a total shock to learn you are playing the wrong game.
Cryptic…yes
Edgy…maybe
Dark…hmmmm
Left wanting…absolutely
Avery thought she had her big girl panties on. She thought she was finally in control. She thought she was done…naive
But now Avery isn’t quite as shiny and new, she isn’t quite as naive, and she isn’t nearly as innocent as she used to be. Distrust, anger, and despair still rock her but this little virgin won’t lay down and take it anymore.
reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood
I bought this book before I even finished reading The Pawn. I had to have more.
The games get deeper in The Knight. Avery has left Garbiel and is now staying in a cheap motel while she figures out what needs to be done to save her mothers home. Things are not what they seem and Avery is slowly finding that out. All the other players in the game know what the stakes are, know everything that’s been kept away from Avery all her life.
Gabriel is more determined than ever to keep Avery in his web. He gives her hope just to watch it be snatched away. And he loves it.
This is a bit darker than the last but by much. I still love all the games, the unknowns and the knowns that come to light in this one!
The Knight by Skye Warren is a seductive romance that gives the reader a peek into the dark mysteries and betrayals of the rich and privileged. I enjoyed The Pawn, but The Knight was so much more exciting and revealing in my opinion. I devoured every new little revelation about Gabriel’s past and the mystery surrounding Avery’s family. The many twists and turns of this story kept me guessing at what was going to happen next and loving every minute of this book
Gabriel has bought Avery at the auction for her virginity, but why? He’s already taken everything from her: her father, her home, her social standing, her schooling, her dignity. What’s left?
Avery is down and out in circumstances, but she’s not beaten yet. She won’t be beaten. This is as strategic as the games of chess she’s played her entire life with her father. It seems everyone in town knows the secrets of her family except her. She wants answers but Gabriel seems as determined to help her as much as he is set on seemingly destroying her.
There are very few authors who leave me in a quandary as to how to leave the review. Not that this book is not worth the price or time, because by all means it’s a 5 star rating and more if it could be. But if you’re reading the review to find out if you want to read the series, then I don’t want to give anything away in this review that would be a spoiler for previous books. So I’ll leave you with this: I devoured this book as soon as I bought it, knowing it would be a cliff hanger. Why you ask? Because the characters and storyline are so gripping, so steamy, and so heartfelt that I have to know what happens. Where did Sky Warren’s mind take them and what is their destination. I wasn’t disappointed in the least and neither will you be.
This book continues where The Pawn left us. Avery is now sleeping in a downtown cheap motel whilst she tries to win back everything that was taken from her father. The trouble is she is going up against Gabriel Miller, master game player. The guy who never loses. The secrets, twists and turns continue in The Knight… This series so far has been incredible, addictive and mind blowing.
Avery finds the diary of her dead mother and so sets off a chain of events in motion. Secrets, lies all start to spill out. We are still left waiting for the biggest secret of all to be revealed… How did her father lose the family fortune. We still know much about the father and this is going to be the pinnacle of the story as events begin to unfold.
I am actually starting to fall in love with Gabriel and this book sees a more caring side to him. He’s not just the hard faced business man that every is scared of but respects. I just love the way Gabriel calls Avery “little virgin”; Gabriel is very cryptic in some of his responses to Avery. We know he is trying to protect her… but from what?!?
Some questions have been answered but there a still a whole more to come. With every answer comes another 2 or 3 questions. The suspense is actually killing me know. I am so desperate to read The Castle it’s not even funny! You need to read this series!
~ 4.5 Stars ~
I’ll start with this… I’ve never wanted to play a game of chess so fucking bad in my life. If you haven’t read The Pawn, then stop right now and start with that. You need to know the back history of the two man characters. This is the second book in the series and it is one hell of a ride. I couldn’t put it down.
Avery St. James has lost it all. The life that she grew up with has been demolished and she had to sell her soul to the devil, so to speak. Even that didn’t seem to work out for her. In fact, the one man who she thought would save her might just be the man to destroy her. Not willing to give up, Avery fights for her past. For her house. For her father.
Gabriel Miller is known to be ruthless. No one messes with him and gets away with it. Including Avery’s father. He has constructed everything precisely so that he gets what he wants after being deceived. Everything to him is one big chess game. Everyone has a place and there’s always a strategic move behind what he does. Including his interactions with Avery.
As this game progresses, will feelings start to muddle the water? Will the pull between Avery and Gabriel be too much? Or will this continue to be the mastermind chess game that Gabriel started against a worthy opponent?
Wow, that was a ride. Every single time I thought I knew where Skye was taking this, it took a left turn and then some. There where so many twists and so many pieces to put together that I was constantly on the edge of my seat. I read this book in one sitting. Biting my nails and forcing my heart rate to slow down due to both the suspense and gloriously, delicious steamy times. Did I mention delicious? Or steamy? Or fucking hot?
The chemistry between Avery and Gabriel was off the charts and not only have I never wanted to play a chess game so badly before, I’ve never wanted to be “little virgin” like I did reading this book. I seriously has some envy. The idea of the chase and the games played were extremely hot.
I loved that each person played such a huge part in the pieces of the story. Towards the end, you start suspecting everyone for everything, which is just fantastic. Always, guessing, always thinking. This is a testament to how well Skye wrote the story. The writing flowed and the pace was so fast, as indicating by my one sitting read.
Overall, I loved this book and I love this series. If you are looking for a suspenseful, steamy read with a bit of twists, some darkness and one hero that makes you melt, then this is the book for you! Don’t miss out on this series. Trust me!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
The Knight is the second book in Skye Warren’s Endgame Series. You must read The Pawn before reading The Knight.
Avery has lost everything. Gabriel Miller has taken her family. Her Innocence. Her home. All Avery has left is her strong determination to get back what is hers. Gabriel may think he has won, but what he doesn’t realize is every pawn has the chance to become a queen. And, the game has only just begun.
If I was Gabriel Miller I think I’d run. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Avery is coming for you Gabriel!!!! Oh how I couldn’t wait to get this book in my hands as soon as I finished The Pawn. Thankfully December flew by and here I am with The Knight. So many questions from the ending of The Pawn and I leave The Knight feeling like I’ve got my answers. I think……I hope. I wouldn’t be shocked to find out I don’t have all the answers but at lest I feel like I have a grasp on thing. Gabriel and Avery are back and Avery is livid. However Avery doesn’t understand everything that is going on but she’s about too. Gabriel’s about to turn her world upside down and right side up again. Oh how I love these two characters. I thought Gabriel was the broody alpha in The Pawn but I loved what I got to see of him in The Knight. The pull between Avery and Gabriel in this book is absolutely there along with the secrets that are spilling and an understanding of just exactly what is going on. The Knight is filled with twists, turns, and some surprises. It’s a definite must read in my book.
Skye Warren has once again blown me away with her Endgame Series. I so can not wait to get The Castle. I just know deep down in my heart I’ve gotten the groundwork laid out in the Pawn, the secrets spilled in The Knight. The Castle is going to be one of those books that you better buckle up and hold on tight because your about to have heart failure or you mind blown. I for one can not freaking wait.
Again long on details short on sexy.
Couldn’t put down this wonderfully well written story and characters!! On to The Castle!!
Once I started reading this one I couldn’t put it down. I had such love/hate feelings for Gabriel he was such a jerk but so protective of Avery and she was such more fierce in this book I loved it. The chemistry between these two is just so intense and panty melting. I can’t wait to see how their love story ends.
Again brilliant! And titillating! Phenomenal!
Soft porn.
The second installment of the Endgame series is even better than the first…some questions answered but even more have emerged…this plot line is so intricate and engaging.
I think Gabriel Miller may be my all time favorite Skye Warren hero/alpha…he’s a total a$$hole and he owns it…loud and proud. Although when it comes to Avery, we see the tiniest cracks in his hard veneer. At the point in the story where hard to hear truths are revealed and confessions are made I experienced so many emotions…I don’t even think I can coherently describe everything I felt when he knelt at her feet…good heavens, my heart *explosion*
There are so many subplots, I’m always in awe of an author when they can weave so many threads together…I’m not sure how many books Skye has planned for this series, but I don’t even feel close to knowing everything that needs knowing. Thank you for another fantastic read Skye!
The Knight is the second book in the Endgame series. You have to read The Pawn first to understand the story. Avery ends up in a very low, undesirable situation after Gabriel throws her aside after getting what he wants. The lies, deceit, mystery, and chemistry are still front and centre but the story takes you to places you won’t expect. This instalment ends with a cliff hanger and I cannot wait to see how Avery and Gabriel’s story will end.
