Beautiful book
Heart-breaking. Unforgettable. This book will leave footprints on your soul. You have to read it.
Loved learning all the history and the book was extremely well written.
It stays with you. Sad story. Life is awful and good, I’m not at all sorry I read it even though it was a hard story.
This is an important book. It takes place in Afghanistan as the Taliban’s influence is starting to grow. A very well written book, with developed characters. I read it with both pleasure and trepidation. I highly recommend it.
Read this book when it came out first. I have always been interested in learning about other cultures and various parts of the world, My book collection (digital and print) include a number of non-fiction books about that topic. The Kite Runner helped me learn about Afghanistan as well as part of that country’s history. At the same time it was so …
Wonderful story with a lot of sadness that turns out to be inspirational. Fully satisfying read
I struggled to maintain interest in the first 1/3 or so of this book, but then it suddenly turns into a really intense page-turner.
I was sucked into the story from the first page. Khaled Hosseini paints pictures with words and what you see is a vivid portrayal of the relationship between the son of a wealthy family and the son of one of their servants. The story is heartbreaking at times, as it shows how cruel and heartless people can be towards a child. I read this just …
This book was amazing. It showed me another side of the war in Afghanistan. It showed me the sorrow and pain as well as the boy of the people effected. Its beautifully written.
amazing and informative
This is one of the books that stays with you for a lifetime.
I’m reviewing this after several years have passed because Bookbub asked if I’d read it. Well, yes, and I can easily recommend it. The story and the characters were all very engaging …. I’d say almost haunting as that’s why I decided to write this belated review.
One of my all time favorite books! I could not put it down!
This is probably one of the most powerful books I have ever read. The tragic story is heartbreaking and ultimately redemptive at the same time. The writing is poetic, lyrical even and so honest you want to just stop and cry. This story resonates within my soul years and years later.
Moving story! Beautifully written!
I loved getting to know about the life and history of Afghanistan in the shoes of these endearing characters.
A must read!
“For you a thousand time over” makes me cry every time.
This book is so haunting that I read it the third time. I particularly liked the character development and the way the author depicted the politics of the region. And of course, it has immensely powerful world-building.

I read this for school, but due to another book taking longer than expected, I ran out of time and watched the movie instead. Really enjoyed the movie, though! Might at some point return to this book when I feel like continuing.
Wonderfully written. Once you start reading, you cannot put this book down. Well developed characters, vivid descriptions.
