The #1 New York Times bestselling debut novel that introduced Khaled Hosseini to millions of readers the world over. The unforgettable, heartbreaking story of the unlikely friendship between a wealthy boy and the son of his father’s servant, caught in the tragic sweep of history, The Kite Runner transports readers to Afghanistan at a tense and crucial moment of change and destruction. A … change and destruction. A powerful story of friendship, it is also about the power of reading, the price of betrayal, and the possibility of redemption; and an exploration of the power of fathers over sons—their love, their sacrifices, their lies.
Since its publication in 2003 Kite Runner has become a beloved, one-of-a-kind classic of contemporary literature, touching millions of readers, and launching the career of one of America’s most treasured writers.

The Kite Runner and his later book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, are heart-wrenching yet I could not put them down.
I just finished this and there just isnt a better way to sum it up than haunting. I felt every emotion reading this book. Its definitely an emotional read, I recommend anyone wanting to truly feel while reading to pick this up.
Amazing story that will stay with you for years to come. Heartbreaking details and beautifully rendered characters.
One of my all time favorites!!
He drew a beautiful Afghanistan that I never knew existed before the Russian War.
Just wonderful
Khaled Hosseini paints a haunting picture of an Afghanistan we have never seen and hence is beyond our imagination. His characters are true and life-like. The conscience-stricken Amir in search of his childhood friend Hassan revisits the Afghanistan he had left behind and finds one he can no longer remember. It is vicious and gore-ridden version …
I loved this book and hated to see it end. Interesting story of the lives and traditions of a part of the world we don ‘t understand or appreciate.
This is one of the few fiction books where you knew that this person was actually writing their story. Mr. Husseini transported you to his life as a young child and takes you on a journey of their customs and the culture that is truly wonderful and believable.
One of the best books I’ve ever read. Also, I can’t remember a book that moved me more to tears!
Shocking at times
Sometimes, with famous books, I’m worried to be disappointed. I didn’t need to worry. This one was excellent – subtle, emotional and with the vivid backdrop of war in Afghanistan. We learn of one boy’s guilt and his lifelong search for redemption. I loved it.
I read this book and Three Cups of Tea several years ago. I found that both books gave me a real glimpse into that part of the world and helped me to understand a bit more about the people, politics, and ongoing conflicts.
One my top ten favorite book. I love his narratives. His books are so real and poignant.
A real page turner that both of my book clubs loved
A great, great book.
A beautifully written book about Afghanistan, religion and the people . Gives one a better understanding of the difficulties in arriving at a solution that enables the various tribes to live together in peace. An insight into the different interpretations of Islam and how it effects their daily lives, especially women.
This is by far one of the best books I’ve ever read. Highly, highly recommend it.
One of the best books I have ever read!
Very intense, I have friend’s from Afghanistan, they often comment on this book being right on. My friends escaped when the Russians arrived.
