From USA Today and Washington Post bestselling author L.J. Shen comes an enemies-to-lovers romance with a twist…
They say your first kiss should be earned.
Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky.
They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred.
Mine were broken before we left church.
They say your heart only beats for one man.
Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end.
I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit.
Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.
They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.
I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter.
One kiss.
Two men.
Three lives.
Entwined together.
And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.

“He was not my playmate. He was my monster”
First thoughts when I saw the teasers leading up to this book had me apprehensive because I am not the one for love triangles, they legit give me anxiety! But then I see the cover and I instantly fell in love! I put my trust into Leigh, and dove in headfirst to this story. This book has everything I love. Age gap, arranged marriage, jerk alpha, enemies to lovers, It Has It ALL!! I am so glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone and read this amazing story about fate and true love!
Oh my gosh this book was just absolutely everything I could have hoped for! What a way to start of my 2019 reads! The Kiss Thief put me through a wringer of emotions. I experienced the emotions these characters were feeling right along with them and I LOVED it! I had those moments of pure anger, moments where I chuckled, and of course moments where I completely swooned.
Francesca and Wolfe had such an intense story that it honestly took my breath away. Francesca has her life all planned out, not by choice of course, but because of who she is and the lifestyle that she has been born into. She knows that she will be married off at one point in her life because she is royalty. She figures it will be with Angelo who we meet in the beginning of the book as well. He is her childhood sweetheart who she has always been in love with and vice versa. Little does she know that her whole life is going to change after just a dance at a ball.
Wolfe knows he is out for vengeance and wants to ruin Francesca’s father no matter what. Her father has destroyed his life and he is determined to do the same to him. What he doesn’t realize is how deeply he is going to fall for Francesca. They both fight each other every twist and turn, but it leads for a story that was absolutely amazing in every way.
I honestly would rate this read much higher than 5 stars if I could. The story was absolutely breathtaking. The writing was beautiful and flowed so well. The characters had so much depth, even the minor ones. All in all this was one well written, well thought out journey. It’s a MUST read.
The Kiss Thief is pure escapist fun. I started and finished it in one sitting and while I’m a totally sleep deprived zombie creature right now, losing sleep was totally worth it. Wolfe and Francesca’s story was part fairy tale, part romance, part horror story and 100% fun to read. Their entire situation was so messed up and unlikely that I probably hate read Wolfe’s part for a good part of the beginning–was he a douche or what?! LJ Shen can write some crazy-hot alpha douches, can’t she? I have so much fun hating them and then coming to like them, or at least appreciate them, that I can’t wait to read them. And of course Francesca. Francesca, Francesca, Francesca. I didn’t know whether to shake my head at her or admire her…or both. She was such a unique combination of old fashioned and forward thinking, modest and outspoken that I couldn’t wait to see what she’d do next when it came to Wolfe. Actually, now that I think about it, they were such spirited and stubborn fighters that I think part of the reason why I flew through this read was because I loved to read their clashes–clashes that made their falling in love that much sweeter.
The Kiss Thief will lure you in with its fairy tale like qualities and keep you engaged through the War of the Roses conflicts and sexy romance–until you look up and realize that you one more chaptered it through your day and reached a very satisfactory end.

We are at the very beginning of 2019 and I already have a top contender for BEST BOOK of the year! Is that crazy or what?! I know I’ve only read two other L.J. Shen books, but I think it’s safe for me to say that is my absolute FAVORITE! This is a romance that you can completely lose yourself in. The writing is impeccable. The storyline is seductive, angsty, and gripping. The characters will blow your mind! Everything about this book screams BESTSELLER! Oh, and the thing that pulled me in, the cover, is incredibly beautiful! It speaks exactly to the theme of the story. I could go on and on about these characters and their turbulent journey, but let’s face it, you don’t have time! You need to stop whatever it is that you’re doing and scoop this GEM up! Don’t waste another minute in your reality and sink yourself into the beauty that is L.J. Shen’s world.

This is my first book from this author and I can’t understand how I’ve been living without reading her books, it’s a shame.
TKT captivated me since the first time I saw the alluring cover, and it was the reason I wanted to read it.
If I can resume this book with a word, it will be PERFECTION, this book has it ALL, even being a long book I read it in a record time because it was really hard to stop reading it, the story was so well written that mesmerize me to the point than nothing else mattered around me. And let me tell you that just a few books have done that to me.
The story begins with a lovely tale, the Rossi women have a tradition, they have notes on a wooden box that will seal their fate prior their wedding, Francesca opened it earlier and she knew that that night she will kiss the love of her life, what she didn’t expect was that Wolfe Keaton will steal that kiss and will change her fate forever.
Wolfe Keaton was ruthless, merciless even cruel but I love him, he might not steal a kiss from me but he definitely stole my heart forever.
He is heartless and indifferent towards Francesca but he knows too, that since he stole Francesca’s kiss, she stole something from him as well. And despite he got Francesca for the wrong reasons, he is capable of loving her and learning how to forgive in order to not lose his most precious asset.
Francesca Rossi was raised to be an arm candy, an obedient and pleasant wife, but she also is strong and when she has to face her new future, she got empowered and start to live a life she always wanted, go to college, find a job. She didn’t think that living with Wolfe will mean to get the freedom she always wanted to have and her feelings toward him will change shortly.
TKT is the first book I read in 2019 and I couldn’t have a better start, this book has all a reader wants, romance, sexiness, forbidden, danger, betrayal, forgiveness and ALL THE FEELS. It was a pleasant read, an epic read, I felt so good while reading that I wish I couldn’t leave this amazing world that this amazing author has created. I definitely recommend it, you can’t live your life without reading this book.
WOW. I thoroughly enjoyed this rather different, drama filled read. I wasn’t sure what to make of Wolfe, to be quite honest, initially, but as I read on he sort of redeemed himself, although it took me quite a while to even think about liking him. He was quite the wolf though!!
I admired Francesca and her tenacity, her zest for not wanting to be told what to do.
This book was riveting to the point I just had to keep reading till I finished.
Yes there was some nasty characters, some suspenseful moments and especially some things I never saw coming.
All in all this was a thrilling story that kept my undivided attention.
I felt sad for Francesca as to how her life was and now is but I absolutely loved how it ended, never thinking it would be the direction this story went.
I won’t say much more than if you want a book that will capture your soul and spit it out at the end then this is the book for you!!!
I am no stranger to LJ Shen’s books. But I knew this one would be different. The cover. The teasers. The mystery of it all had me intrigued and curious months ago. But I still was not prepared for what was in between the pages of this book. Shen knocked this story out of the ballpark. She wrote like a poet – every page, every scene was written with a language that I wasn’t expecting. She took a fairy-tale love story and somehow made it dark, mysterious, forbidden, and the star of it was the villain, not a prince.
Senator Wolfe Keaton is arrogant, impersonal, conniving, and a thief. He stole Chicago’s young, beautiful and innocent mafia princess’ first kiss. And from that moment on – nothing was the same. This story is told magically – I felt like I was at the masquerade ball, watching both Francesca Rossi while she adored her true love from afar, and Wolfe Keaton as he sat back and ate her up like a cat and a canary.
Wolfe is devastatingly handsome, dark and broody – and I was drawn to him from the start. He is all alpha male – he intimidates everyone around him, can command a room, and doesn’t care what anyone has to say about him. I loved his drive and passion. What made this story for me was his transformation from the proud villain to the humble and forgiving hero. He has a tragic past, is driven by hate and vengeance, yet as his story unfolds with Francesca you see his walls come down as he is drawn more and more to her. His tender moments made me swoon, and his possessive and dark nature turned me on. He is the epitome of the anti-hero, and I loved every second of it!
Francesca Rossi is one of those beautiful heroines you can’t help but love and want to be. She is compassionate, generous, brilliant and driven. But she has been put in a cage by those closest to her for most of her life. Although she is a mafia princess, she does not want the title nor cares for the lifestyle. She has been bred to follow orders and find a man to take care of her, but she shows a rebellious side to her right away in the Prologue that I immediately fell for. She likes to break the rules a bit, challenge the men in her life, and push her boundaries. She was like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn, and LJ Shen did a remarkable job of creating this classy heroine who had enough bite in her to put the Big Bad Wolfe in his place.
This story will make you swoon, sigh and dream of living in castles, going to balls, and driving a car with the top down in the hills with the love of your life. But just like most dreams, there are twists and turns, villains, and broken hearts. I was drawn to this story immediately and it kept pulling me in deeper and deeper – I couldn’t put it down. The character development was outstanding – it was real, raw and genuine. The passion, possessiveness, tenderness and determination of these characters both broke my heart and then put it all back together. Every revelation they made, I cheered more and more and cried both tears of sorrow and joy for them. This book will be a favorite of mine for 2019, and I’m so glad it was my first read of the year. Well done once again LJ Shen! You set the bar high
The Kiss Thief by LJ Shen Francesca Rossi is a sheltered Italian- American princess to a mob boss. Growing up she always knew she would be betrothed to Angelo the son of a fellow mobster. She has had a crush on him for years. Now at 19 she is looking forward to the announcement of her engagement to Angelo. She is floored when she discovers she has been given to Senator Wolfe Keaton to marry. Senator Keaton is a good looking wealthy manwhore. Being the dutiful daughter she moves into his mansion. Their relationship was definitely contentious. She was in love Angelo and not Wolfe. There is also the age difference. She is a virgin and he is a manwhore. She is Italian and he isn’t. There was so much to this story. I loved it. The constant difference made for a good story. Keaton had an plan when he asked for Francesca hand in marriage. She was a means to an end. While they were so busy hating each other something happened. By the end of the book secrets were revealed and what you see isn’t what you alway get. Was a good read. 4 stars for me.
The Kiss Thief was intoxicating, angst ridden and at times heart wrenching. L.J Shen is one of my go to authors when I’m looking for something thats unique and full of angst.
An L.J. Shen character in her book ‘Vicious’ once said that ‘Love and Hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances. The Passion is the same. The Pain is the same.’ This quote has always resonated with me and helped me understand why my favourite types of reads have always been the hate to love kind of read, they’re passionate, angst ridden and always addictive and The Kiss Thief was no different.
Set in modern times, TKT had such a unique Historical vibe to it and was a breath of fresh air in what has been a previous year of stale reads for me. While the genre is nothing new, the intricately woven storyline was very much something new.
An arranged marriage? Check.
A Virgin Bride & A Lothario Groom ? Check
Starcorssed Lovers? Check.
TKT had everything I didn’t know I was looking for in my first read for 2019.
Francesca was an interesting herione, at the beginning of TKT I found her incredibly hard to connect with. She seemed like a docile lamb that couldn’t make a decision for herself and made all her choices based on what her parents wanted. She was 19 and quite content to marry her fathers friends son she had known since childhood and spend the rest of her life being a mother with no ambition for herself. Francesca’s character development was incredible, she went from a teenager to a woman who knew what and who she wanted from this life and by the end of TKT had taken strides to get what she wanted. She learnt her worth and would not cower to anyone.
While Francesca was the lamb, Wolfe most definitely lived up to his name. He was the Big and Bad they told stories about. Wolfe’s character development was subtle and staggering at the same time. I don’t think I ever fully warmed up to Wolfe until the last 20% of the book. He was arrogant, commanding and blinded by his past. In that last 20% he was the complete opposite. There’s one point in the book where he makes an ultimate sacrifice for Francesca and that was where I finally understood him and fell for him.
TKT was a tortured, heart wrenching love story that was written so beautifully that even with all the hate between the pages you could feel the love and passion between these two characters.
L.J Shen is a flawless writer of angst and the enemies to lovers genre. Her passion for writing shines through in every word she writes. Her writing style is poetic and excruciatingly exquisite. She’s fast becoming a favourite author of mine with her unique takes on typical themes in the romance genre and is an absolute breath of fresh air! TKT has fast become one of my favourite Hate to Love Romances and will always hold a special place in my heart.

THE KISS THIEF by LJ Shen is the story of Francesca Rossi. OMG where do you even being with this book….I Loved it for one. It kept you on your toes with the story line. Francesca is a mob princess and as such you know that you are taking care of but life isn’t always easy. Francesca marriage was to be arranged to Angelo Bandini but things in the mob life don’t go as planned. Senator Wolfe Keaton a hard man determine to get the revenge he so greatly wants. Forcing a marriage between him and Francesca is just a step in the direction he needs to go to get the revenge ball rolling. But he doesn’t count on his feelings starting to take a turn toward her.
This book was a page turner for me…to hard to put down. Will be looking for more books by this author for sure!!!
Oh wow, wow, wow. I’m in awe right now.
If you’re a lover of L.J. Shen’s Hotholes then The Kiss Thief is going to be exactly what you want because ladies (and gents), we have a new alphahole in town. Mr Wolfe Keaton, the man that makes men quiver in their boots and women drop to their knees. He’s sexy as sin with an attitude to go with it. He’s ruthless and harsh and keeps his true feelings locked away.
The Kiss Thief isn’t your typical romance. It’s a story about a nemesis and a villain. One that starts with hate and anger, with pain and heartache and turns in to so much more than you could ever expect. A romance that has you gritting your teeth and ready to pull your hair out in frustration. One that has you melting on the spot and clutching at your heart because of all the emotions it inflicts upon you.
This story is incredible, one that I won’t be giving away. You HAVE to experience this book through fresh eyes and no spoilers to 100% enjoy it and enjoy it you will.
LJ Shen has gone and written a book that’s far from her normal style of writing and absolutely slayed it like the queen she is. Leigh, hands down, takes the crown for writing THE BEST ALPHAHOLES in book land.
Since the announcement of this book and the updates from Leigh I’ve been eager to read it but I wasn’t ready for what she gave us, it was definitely a pleasant surprise. The amount of time, effort and love that’s gone in to this book shines brightly and I’m in awe of this woman, she’s truly incredible.
This book is most definitely my favourite book from this author. My favourite read of 2018 and no doubt my favourite book from 2019. TKT is everything I love about romance’s. The struggles and the real ness of it all hooked me from the get go. If I could give this beauty a higher rating than 5, I would. It deserves all the stars and more.
When Leigh says she’s bringing out a new book you damn well know you will love it.
But damn…. I had no idea I would LOVE IT SO MUCH.
This is ‘The BEST BOOK EVER from her to date’!!
I seriously can’t even begin to tell you how much love I have for this book…
Francesca Love her!!! She wants to be taken seriously and be independant. But because of the way she’s been brought up she’s been told she isnt going to college or getting a job because thats not what’s expected of her. ‘That’s not what Rossi women are meant to do’. She’s always loved Angelo and is hoping they will finally kiss. But that all goes to hell lol.
Wolfe Gahhhhh I love this man. At times I wanted to slap him. But majority of the time I wanted to kiss his face off lol. Who wouldnt!! So when he was younger something sad happened and that made him want to make the world a ‘better place’. He put up wall around his heart so he wouldnt get hurt and wouldnt feel things.
But things dont always go the way you hoped. Both Francesca & Wolfe meet and lets just say ‘It’s not Sunshine and Rainbows’ haha.
I just loved how I felt whilst reading this. My poor heart…. falling in love with Wolfe. The damn Butterflies.. I swooned so damn bad I was so giddy when something sweet was said or happened.
That epilogue… Damn perfection!!!
This is the first book I’ve read in 2019. It definitely won’t be forgotten!!!
I damn near swooned and giggled all the way through this book. I also shed some tears too lol.
Loved this book so damn much. Well done Leigh xx
This was an absolutely amazing read! I’ve always said Blood to Dust was my favorite book written by LJ Shen, but I think this one may have just taken its place. This may be her best work yet! It was an absolutely spellbinding story that I promise you won’t want to put down. A beautiful romance full of young love, first love, romance, lies, betrayal and heartbreak. It’s sweet and suspenseful, you’ll both love and hate the main character, and you may even question your sanity for falling in love with such a jerk. That is one of LJ Shen’s biggest talents… writing lovable a-holes…and once again, she doesn’t disappoint. This may be one of the first books I’ve read this year, but I can already say with confidence, it’ll be one of my favorites. I’m going to have to buy a hardback so I can add this one to my collection! Plus, that cover is gorgeous! Read the book, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
The Kiss Thief is a book unlike any other I have read before and I think the author does a wonderful job at weaving the story. And while I did love the world building and the feelings that emit from the hero (he’s a total alpha hole hellbent on revenge) I felt myself to be a bit disconnected to the heroine. I think it’s because I believed she was going to be a certain way (view spoiler) when she truly wasn’t (at least that what I took from the story). Nevertheless, despite my overall feelings for the heroine, I did enjoy the overall journey that the book took me on. I certainly breezed right through it and found myself anxiously awaiting what would happen next.
If you are a fan of original and sexy novels that incorporate unconventional marriage arrangements then this is your book! L.J. Shen did a great job in writing this one.
5 Stars
I was initially drawn to The Kiss Thief, because of it’s phenomenally gorgeous cover, and L.J. Shen does not disappoint.
I went into this story having only read the blurb, and it doesn’t give much away, which is why I’ve struggled with writing a review. Everyone needs to read this book with no preconceived notions so that they feel all the emotions, and be just as surprised, and amazed by the twists and turns as the initial readers felt.
This title is captivating, intriguing and engaging with characters that will draw you in and have you experiencing a gamut of emotions. This is not a sweet romance it’s dark, raw and passionate. It’s a tale full of tension, angst and vengeance with blackmail, betrayal and danger around every corner.
The cast of characters within The Kiss Thief are incredibly complex and well developed. The hero is quite formidable and incredibly ruthless in going after what he wants. He’s intelligent, driven, charismatic and ambitious. He’s quite closed off, but when he does gives his heart, he will do anything to protect those he holds dear. The heroine is sophisticated, beautiful and comes from a background of wealth and privilege. But she’s so much more than her delicate appearance, and she’s far from fragile with backbone of steel, she’s incredibly strong, resilient, courageous and not at all afraid to speak her mind.
The interactions between this pair are raw, but very clever and witty. Both are incredibly intelligent and prideful, their barbs are meant to flay, full of sarcasm, ridicule, and emotion.
Honestly I was quite surprised with how much I enjoyed this title, It’s not the type of story I’m usually drawn to, and I was completely surprised by the unique and heartfelt plot, and I’m sure The Kiss Thief will feature heavily as one of the top reads of 2019!
4.5 stars
“Your love story was no fairy tale. More like a witch tale. Wicked and real and painful.”
Leave it to Leigh Shen to come up with the most infuriatingly delicious Alphahole in the world. The type you want to strangle, slap, devour and fall at their feet at the same time. This was a great way to start my reading year.
The Kiss Thief was not what I was expecting from Shen but I did love it nevertheless. This is not a fairytale because in here the VILLAIN wins.
TKT has a bit of everything you like in a story. From an arranged marriage, mafia, intrigue, old romance feel, forbidden love, age difference, passion and even a bit of darkness. I devoured the first 70% of this book in one sit. I just couldn’t put it down. They way Leigh writes suck you into the story. It’s powerful and unstoppable. I literally had to make myself put it aside and go to sleep because of work. It had me biting my nails in anticipation, pulling my hair in exasperation. Wanting to get in the book and strangle the characters. They were driving me insane with all the love-hate and every situation that was presented. I was swooning and hurting at the same time. There was scenes that made me ache so much and ask WHY. For me when a book has you in an overload of emotions is a pretty great book.
“He was fire. Gorgeous to the eye, lethal to the touch.”
Wolfe Keaton is rich, powerful, dark, brooding, cunning, vengeful, a politician and a force to be reckoned with. He is a KING among men, sex in a suit, a villain. He is power and perfection. Always in control and very very sure and direct on what he wants. You will hate and love him. You will hate that you love him but there won’t be any other way. He is definitely one of my book husbands.
“I was born into a gilded cage. It was spacious, but locked, nonetheless.”
Francesca Rossi was sweet and innocent. Treated like a princess. Protected and shelter to no end. I love that we got to see her grow as a woman in this book. The fact that after everything she is put through, she didn’t let herself be broken made me like her more. Still I wanted her to fight and be more resilient. I’m sorry but I wanted her to make him suffer a bit more after all that was done. It’s just the latina in me looking for fights jajajajja. At the end of this story I was so happy for them and everything they achieved as a couple. I wanted for Francesca to show more of her power over the situation because she was not a victim after all, she was the end game, THE PRICE.
“She was sweet, and she was all mine.
Not just her body but also her words and her courage.”
So if you want a read with a mix of alpha macho sexy infuriating man you know from Leigh; sweet, innocent, sensitive gorgeous heroine and a historical old romance feel with modern twists and turns this is definitely the read for you.
There are truly not enough words to even begin to describe The Kiss Thief by LJ Shen. LJ Shen has created a world in which I never want to leave. This story will suck you in and spit you back out. It will make you fall head over heels for the Villain, yet you will still despise him with all you have. A debt needs to be paid and this story of retaliation and retribution will have you turning each page, hungry for more. Wolfe & Francesca were a couple like no other and I cannot say enough about this book. LJ Shen has crafted a story like no other and in my opinion, the perfect read to start of 2019!
LJ Shen has messed with my mind and I don’t know what to think about it. I think I like it and am ok with it. If you are going into this thinking it sounds like such a romantic read, you might want to actually read the blurb and re-think the word ‘romance’.
Imagine this:
~A masquerade ball
~She dressed as Nemesis; He dressed like a villainess thief in the night
~The princess anxiously awaiting a kiss at the ball like Cinderella; The prince grants her the first kiss, but wait, who is the prince and what does this mean for the princess’ future?
~Nemesis’ prince turns out to be as villainous as she thought. He was not to save her, but torture and torment her.
~The princess realizes her fairy tale is an actual nightmare and she’s on her own in a very luxurious prison.
I finished reading this a few days ago and honestly, I’m still gobsmacked. I FLIPPING LOVED THIS BOOK, but what does this say about me regarding some scenes? After you read ‘The Kiss Thief’, you will understand. Is this an ooey, gooey, sugar sweet cavity laden romance? No, it’s not, but it is so much more. Love is messy, it has its ups and downs, and is not predictably planned. As Francesca soon finds out. Through this situation that she is in, she begins to realize her worth as a person and starts to feel that inner strength that she has always had, but never needed. She is mistakenly viewed as weak with no worth, because she is female. Her only worth is to be obedient, arm candy. Unfortunately, for everyone that isn’t Francesca, they better watch out and not get in her way. Francesca is such an incredible heroine with as many layers as an onion. It was thrilling to see her evolve from arm candy to her own person. She is the perfect match for Wolfe Keaton. Being Mrs. Keaton though is not going to be an easy task, but Frankie is up for the challenge. Being the type of man Wolfe is, he will take care of her every need, even if he is detached and relegates these tasks to his staff.
‘He was fire. Gorgeous to the eye, lethal to the touch.’
Let’s talk about our Hero (if he can/should be called that). Senator Wolfe Keaton has an axe to grind with a particular crime called The Outfit. I should say precisely more the head of The Outfit, Arthur Rossi. Through some questionable, smart and long term thinking on our beloved Senator’s behalf, he ends up with the beautiful, Frankie, as his soon to be wife. Frankie is less than thrilled, considering she had been promised her hand in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Angelo.
‘You’re a collected debt, a retaliation, and, quite frankly, pretty decent arm candy.’
Wolfe is a different breed. He is wickedly intelligent, has more charisma in his pinkie than a whole auditorium of used car salesmen and male strippers combined. Wolfe is lethal with his charisma, so don’t think that wins him very many points with his soon to be bride. He has more walls erected than the Winchester Mystery House. Despite all his flaws, I was utterly swept up by Senator Keaton. He is the clean-cut exterior of a good guy that would make you want to take him home to meet the parents. However, don’t let the exterior fool you. Internally, he is every inch the bad boy that your parents would warn you of. I will go on record and say that I loved Wolfe. He was so broken, brooding and injured, that despite what he did, you wanted to gobble him up and hug him until everything was ok. Seriously, book boyfriend material!
Leigh Shen has outdone herself with another broody a-hole male and a heroine that is understated but bursting with inner strength. Wolfe in The Kiss Thief gives my favorite LJ Shen Hero a run for his money and I don’t know if Vicious would stand for it!!
This book is L.J. Shen at her finest. This is a book that is a mix of old and new. Set in modern times, he has a lot of historical romance vibes. The book is pure elegance, speaking to the soul of the reader. The pace was as amazing as the plot. The story is original and fresh. I would say Wolfe Keaton gives Troy Brennan a run for the money in the jerk department for sure. He is also way more redeemable. Story is told in dual POV.
The setting of the story is rich old world Chicago. Where mobsters and politicians alike are all crooked and deceitful. Intrigue, love, lust, hate, loss, and gain are all in this story. It’s complex, it’s layered, it’s phenomenal. Elegance runs through every page, and you can really feel the heart behind the pages, you can hear Shen’s voice in this story, and I promise this is a wonderful read.
Addictive. Suspenseful. Stunning beyond words.
LJ Shen never disappoints. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. She is my word dealer and I’m addicted to her product.
Wolfe Keaton has risen to his thrown.
The anxiety and anticipation while reading this masterpiece was immense. I was glued to my kindle screen. I needed to know all the words.
LJ Shen created a whole new fictional world that I wanted to dive right in to. Despite the casualties, you couldn’t look or turn away.
Im a big believer in things happen for a reason. This was a theme I thoroughly enjoyed in The Kiss Thief. All the plotting and calculating can never mess with fate.
Francesca, so young, so hopeful. Although sheltered, I loved how even though she did resign in being a pawn in multiple men’s games. At the end she held the most important piece.
A king can and will bow down for his queen.
When the big bad wolf came, she bared he teeth right back.
This is not your typical love story. You think you’ve read similar before, trust me you haven’t. But once you do, you too will left in pure awe.
Well done miss Shen. Your words will continue to feed my addiction, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
