From the author of The Bride Test comes a romance novel hailed as one of The Washington Post’s 50 Notable Works of Fiction in 2018 and one of Amazon’s Top 100 Books of 2018!“This is such a fun read and it’s also quite original and sexy and sensitive.”—Roxane Gay, New York Times bestselling author “Hoang’s writing bursts from the page.”—BuzzfeedA heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves … page.”—Buzzfeed
A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there’s not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick.
Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases—a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.
It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice—with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan—from foreplay to more-than-missionary position…
Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he’s making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic…

The Kiss Quotient is a fresh, modern, sexy take on the romance. The writing is fast-paced. The characters are intriguing. The story sparkles with a warm, positive, optimistic vibe that goes straight to the heart.
I devoured The Kiss Quotient. It’s one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time. It has everything — it’s funny, sad, poignant, and impossible to put down.
An unexpectedly sweet romance that left me with a huge smile on my face. I dare you not to fall in love with these two characters and their story. Helen Hoang’s debut is quite simply delightful!
I read this wonderfully charming romance in one sitting. Michael is hero goals. And Stella is perfect. From page one to the end, I was in love. I cant recommended this novel enough.
Clever, sexy, and a breath of fresh air! The Kissing Quotient is intoxicatingly witty and romantic!
This is only the second romance I’ve picked up and the FIRST I’ve listened to as an audiobook, but it really swept me off my feet. As a reader, I really felt for Stella: she’s a high-powered professional with a job she loves and a great salary — everything a successful woman should be — but she feels pressured by both her coworkers and her family to start dating. On a personal level, Stella worries that her autism will keep her from ever feeling truly intimate with anyone, and decides to go out on a limb and hire a male escort to give her lessons on sex and intimacy. What starts out as a simple business arrangement with Michael (a smoldering Daniel Henney lookalike, according to the book) becomes so much more than that. I was rooting for Stella and Michael the entire time, and was not disappointed. If you love Pretty Woman, dirty talk, guys with tattoos, and Vietnamese food, you’ll enjoy this book!
I giggled maniacally / sobbed my way through this in one day. (I also felt really called out, as I share many of the heroine’s characteristics, right down to the special pattern I tap with my fingers that calms me when I need to escape.) I often wanted to shake the hero, but cheered for them both to find their HEA. Funny, emotional, sexy. Would recommend.
A beautiful and original story I’ll never forget.
The Kissing Quotient is an outstandingly good romance. It is romantic, steamy, sweet, witty, and eye-opening.
I loved this very sexy contemporary romance novel. It’s about an autistic woman who hires an escort to teach her to be better at sex and relationships. The chemistry between Stella and Michael is off the charts, the sex scenes are incredibly hot and the alternating POVs make this a totally charming read where I was rooting for them every step of the way. I highly recommend it, whether you’re a regular romance reader or not. If you like sexy stories, check out The Kiss Quotient.
There are not enough adjectives to explain how much I adored this book! For any lover of smart romance, this one’s a must read.
I was completely charmed by The Kiss Quotient. Ms. Hoang’s depiction of Stella is such an excellent window into how a person with Asperger’s navigates life. And Michael! Wow! What can I say about super yummy Michael? There is just so much to love about this book.
I’m a bit late to the party, but I’m happy I’m finally here with the rest of this book’s many fans. For those who haven’t read The Kiss Quotient, you must! You will fall in love with these characters.
What a refreshing surprise. I wasn’t expecting to absolutely love these characters. Stella is so unsure of herself despite being brilliant. I think we all have a little Stella in us which makes this super relatable despite the fantastic setup.
I LOVED this book and it gave me the best of all the feels.
I loved, loved, loved, this book. It was sexy and steamy, heartwarming and beautiful. I devoured the book in less than 24 hours.
Stella and Michael are the most perfectly-imperfect couple ever. I might be slightly obsessed with them actually.
This story gave me a little glimpse into the world of someone with Functioning Autism. It helped me understand her. I loved this book for that alone. Then throw in Michael’s struggles and the reasons he’s become an escort and this book is a gem.
Please read it. You won’t regret it. It’s an amazing story. And I hope it blows you away like it did me.
The Kiss Quotient, a debut novel by Helen Hoang swept me away from the very first page! It was such an unexpected surprise and a sweet, memorable romance.
Understanding these complex characters and really seeing them made this book extremely special. They didn’t allow their struggles to define them, especially Stella who has Asperger’s. She’s independent and strong and I felt a connection to her instantly.
Stella and Michael couldn’t be more opposite, yet one in the same. Their chemistry was undeniable and I loved the in’s and out’s of their relationship. What started out as a business arrangement soon became so much more. They were two broken pieces of a puzzle that fit perfectly.
This book was everything you love in a romance story. Angsty at times, sweet, and steamy with relatable characters. Helen Hoang put pieces of herself into this story and every single piece shone brightly! She’s truly a phenomenal writer. I cannot wait to read more of her books down the road!
So adorable, sexy, and well-written.
This steamy romance intrigued me. The heroine has Asperger’s syndrome and the hero is Vietnamese-American. It reads like a romance, but the refreshing twist comes from the characters’ backgrounds.
Loved this so much I one-clicked the sequel and read both in the same (very long) day/night.
Awesome book with well-developed characters. I’m looking forward to her next!
