The Kiss of Love is the sixth book in The Book of Love series but can be read as a stand-alone. I haven’t read the entire series, but I always enjoy this author’s books. The characters are always so charming, and the Farthingale family is always fun and entertaining! This series is based on a book the cousins are sharing that tells of courtship. They believe that whoever has the book and is reading it will find their true love. This was a fast-paced book to read and full of charm.
Honey Farthingale didn’t want to take the Book of Love when her cousins gave it to her. She just learned something about herself and believes it will make her unmarriageable. She is trying to come to terms with it, but Thomas is too tempting for her to deny.
Thomas Halford, Earl of Wycke, has admired Honey from the time he saw her across the room at a Society event. He has been watching her all Season but can’t figure out why she affects him so much. His mother’s health is fragile, and he decides to have a house party at his estate to help her. He convinces Honey to come and his admiration grew as he watched her assist his mother. Can he convince her to confide in him her secret as to why she won’t marry?
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Honey Farthingale has been given “The Book of Love”, hoping it would help her find a true love. But Honey has a secret that most of her family does not know and she feels that she cannot share it with anyone. The Earl of Wycke, has invited her to a weekend party at his estate and offers to take her in his carriage along with his aging Mother. The characters in this book are wonderfully described and brings the book with her to read. As the Earl and Honey become to know one another, they find that they are very well-matched. However, there are spiteful young women that have their eye on the Earl and will do anything to keep him to themselves. I enjoyed reading Book 6 of the series and believe that Meara Platt did a great job in creating a page turning adventure.
I just love this series so much! Honey Farthingale has a secret and will not share it with the dashing Lord Wycke. Tom is responsibilites that are tearing at his heart. I love how he was so willing to see Honey for who she is and even explore his own feelings. It was a lovely read that sucked you and gave you all the feels. I finished it one sitting and was thoroughly satisfied.
The Kiss of Love by Meara Platt is book 6 in The Kiss of Love Series. This is the story of Thomas Halford, Earl of Wycke and Honey Farthingale. I haven’t yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book. Thomas’s mother has health issue that has created issues within him and his family. Wishing to give his mother some enjoyment he host a house party. This leads him to get closer to Honey who is the only debutante that runs from him. Thomas is highly taken with Honey and he just becomes more smitten with her each day. Honey has learned a devastating secret that makes her settle into becoming a spinster along with settling down to help with her family. But it doesn’t stop her from attending one last house party and a chance to enjoy Thomas before taking off to her spinster life. I really enjoyed this book and the handling of each of their secrets.
I’ve read all the books in this series and I am glad the author changed it up for this one. If you read them all, it got to be repetitive in going over the Book of Love. The same parts were rehashed in each book. This one only a few mentions of the book and I appreciated that. The stories can be stand alone, but it is like going to a family reunion and meeting up with your beloved family. I enjoyed meeting the character’s from the previous books.
I thought the h held onto her secret too long. Why wait to tell the H and have your hearts already engaged? There is lovemaking, outside of marriage, heat level 4 out of 5 and described several times.
There are several villains in this story. Even though you knew what the one villain was going to do. I would like to know how the villain discovered something she announced.
I liked how the story of the H’s mom getting dementia was handled. It shows how the illness effects everyone.
We have no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and spice. The story ends at the 95% mark and the rest is a blurb for the next person to hold the Book of Love. It sounds like another hit. (ljb)
This is the 6th book of the Book of Love Series and it is about a lovable Farthingale Family member, Honey. It also has the famous Chipping Way in the story, so I knew I would love it. I was not disappointed. Meara Platt always writes a nice entertaining story which I enjoy very much. Honey and Thomas have secrets but cannot help falling in love and neither will you.
I received a free copy of this book for my honest review.
Sigh. These stories keep getting better and better if that is possible!
A heartwarming, lovely story about Honey Farthingale and Tom Halford, Earl of Wycke. The book of love makes an interesting appearance in this story and ends up being read by Honey and Tom.
Tom had held a house party at his country house with the hope it would help his mother, who had been experiencing dementia. Of course it was not called that then but it was evident she was getting forgetful.
Honey is such a compassionate, beautiful soul, who helps watch out for his mother and Tom is just drawn to her. She is determined to live her life as a spinster because she knows he secret she holds will make her unmarriageable. But she does want to experience a kiss.
Tom cannot figure Honey out. Women love him, mother’s stalk him for their daughters and those daughters do everything to get his attention. When Honey asks him for a kiss, he is eager to fulfill her request!
Delightfully charming story that I could only sigh several times as I followed their journey to their happy ever after.
Honey Farthingale kind, beautiful & compassionate but she has a secret that, if found out, could ruin her & damage the family’s reputation too. Even though, she is a romantic, she has decided to become a spinster for the rest of her days & therefore; her secret will stay safe as she won’t be forced to tell a future husband her secret. Since she will be a spinster, Honey wants to experience a kiss but not just any kiss, a kiss from man that had attracted her, the handsome Thomas Halford, Earl of Wycke – the most sought after bachelor in society.
Thomas Halford, Earl of Wycke or Wicked Wycke as nicknamed by society & has earned being called a scoundrel and rakehell but he is also powerful, handsome, a loyal friend & a loving son & brother. He has debutantes falling all over him and has tired of it and the one lady he wants keeps avoiding him at all costs. He must discover why Honey Farthingale is hiding from him and then she asks him to kiss her. He is happy to grant her request but the more time they are together the more he wants from her and she is changing her mind about the spinster business. I loved both Tom & Honey & the journey to their HEA wasn’t easy but I loved it. I also loved how characters from other books featured.
The road to happiness was not an easy one – her secret kept them apart & she did not tell him until close to the end, Tom’s Mother was experiencing Dementia & there were some very emotional scenes. We met some new characters, we re-visited some from previous books and most importantly, JASPER (Ewan’s looby Old English Sheepdog from My Fair Lily, Book 1 in The Farthingale Series)!!
I highly recommend this book and the entire series – Meara Platt knows how to create hunky heroes, lovable ladies and magical stories to bring them to life!
Thomas Halford, Earl of Wycke is attracted to Honey Farthingale, but he can’t seem to figure out why she keeps avoiding him. Honey knows with her background and secret she is above the lower class and a class lower London’s society and the Earl Thomas Halford so to avoid heart break she keeps hiding from him. Tom continues to peruse Honey in an effort to see why all the other woman are flocking to him, and she’s not and finds himself even more intrigued by her. As they spend time together he sees her patience and kindness to his mother who has early signs of dementia. Love grows between them and Honey confesses her secret afraid it will ruin her chance of marriage. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this amazing story.
This book was a wonderful addition to the series. I had already adored Honey and Tom from the previous books and was excited to read their story. It was perfect! This book had love, humor, and some sadness. It was a well balanced book that flowed smoothly. The characters are all well-written and loveable. Meara Platt is a very talented writer. I have enjoyed all of her books that I have read. This book makes me want to reread this series and the Farthingale series. The excerpt for Holly and Joshua’s book has me wanting to read it immediately.
Honey Farthingale has sworn off marriage but is very attracted to the Earl of Wycke. When Thomas starts paying attention to Honey she sees no reason why she could Steel a couple of kisses after all it is just a kiss. Thomas Halford has not found a woman that he was interested in. Looking to find someone that is intelligent and interested in more than what to wear to a ball. He finds that in Honey, but she has a secret that she does not trust him enough to tell him. He more Thomas chases the more Honey pulls away. Honey has been fighting her attraction to Thomas and is definitely falling for him. This was such a sweet story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the book of love! Definitely recommend reading this book!
The Earl of Wycke, Thomas Halford, has fallen for Honey Farthingale but he hasn’t quite realized it. You always have a fabulously, fun romp when the Farthingale curse and the Book of Love are both involved. Will Honey’s tragic secret destroy their chance for love?
The fun and chaos that finds the Farthingale family is never ending. Honey is no exception. She will find love if she will take a chance. Can she get past her secret to the love she deserves? This is a wonderfully rich, funny and well written series. So ready for the next book.
It’s That Book Again.
A house party quickly becomes more when Tom and Honey are together. Suddenly they’re both reading the Book Of Love …and falling in love. Tom’s mother is fading way and only Honey can give him comfort, but Honey has a secret that could tear them apart. If Tom asks her to marry him, she has to tell him the secret first. A sweet romance with a lot of angst with this book.
This is the first book I have read by Meara Platt. I LOVED IT!!! The story is filled with love and compassion, lust and heat and of course the nefarious person. Ms. Platt’s writing is unique. I found that the book does not contain fluff or fillers to complete the story. It is the main course all the way. I really enjoyed the main characters Honey and Tom. They both were dealing with heavy burdens in their lives. Somehow, they gave each other hope and peace. I like the way Ms. Platt dealt with Tom’s mother’s declining health it sounds like it could have been Alzheimer’s disease. Ms. Platt wrote realistically with feeling, sensitivity and understanding how it affects the patient and the family members. This is a wonderful emotional and at the same time fun to read book. The dynamic relationship between Honey and Tom made me smile. They playfully teased each other which lightened up the story. This is a must read. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Thomas Halford, Earl of Wycke, is not ready to settle down. He enjoys his bachelor life, that is, until he invites Honey Farthingale to his house party. He’s intrigued by the sweet young woman, but she tries to avoid him and vows she’ll never marry. The more she resists Tom, the more he wants to get to know her and find out her ‘terrible’ secret.
Not having read any of the other stories in this series, I was a little lost with all the characters that were introduced in the beginning. I’m also not a fan of the ‘insta-love’ aspect of stories and wasn’t impressed when after only 2 days at the house party, Tom is willing to give up his bachelor life to marry her. Honey’s terrible secret did not end up being all that important in the end even when the mean girl Lady Sarah announces it to everyone at a ball. Beside this one thing, there wasn’t much conflict in the book at all.
I voluntarily read the advanced reader copy and all opinions are my own.
Two people, Honey and Tom, say they will not marry. Honey won’t marry because of a terrible secret and Tom because he is not ready to settle down. Intrigued by Honey’s dismissal of him when all the other woman fawn over him, Tom sets out to seduce Honey. He succeeds. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.

The sixth book in this lovely series, it could be read on its own but if like me you love series I’d recommend reading from the beginning. I loved both Tom & Honey & the journey to their HEA wasn’t easy but I loved it. I also loved how characters from other books featured. A lovely heart warming romance
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
