The King of Hearts trilogy can be read as a stand-alone, or can be preceded by A House of Cards…Cassie’s had a rough few months. Being a vampire came with its own risks. Being a con-artist vampire was even tougher. Being forced to fake one’s own death to keep from getting thrown in the slammer or murdered and then resurrecting oneself? Really takes a lot out of a girl. Frankly, she could use a … could use a little down time. But, true to form, she’s skipped that and opted to jump straight from the frying pan into the fire as a new recruit-in-training for the Old Guard. They think she’s got the skillset to help them ferret out some troublemaking vampires in the Undercity, and she’s just interested enough to agree.
But when she struggles with the whole “obedience” portion of her training and decides to make a break for it, she’s suddenly thrust into the center of a centuries’ old battle for power. A battle that will pit the world’s strongest, most revered vampires against one another…and Cassie herself.

I read and enjoyed this book as part of the Undercity Chronicles #1 by Savannah Skye which is a collection of the first four books in the Undercity Chronicles. This collection includes: A House of Cards, The King of Hearts 1, The King of Hearts 2, and The King of Hearts 3. Each of the four books revolve around a central character named Cassandra or Cassie. In the first book Cassie fakes her death and her best friend a human named Hanna comes to find out what happened to her. This book has a exciting and sweet story of how Hanna falls in love with a vampire and they work together to save Cassie. The other three books all focus directly on Cassandra and her partner born vampire Ryder and the many dangerous adventures they get into together as their relationship develops. This four book series is a wonderful set of vampire stories set in a very well thought out world. This is most definitely the best, most exciting, and well written vampire series I have read. Anyone who loves to read about vampires will be as enchanted by the a unique vampire society found in the Undercity Chronicles as I am. Furthermore, these books are so entertaining with lots of action, adventure, mystery, and romance that I could not put them down until the end. Any paranormal romance reader will love this collection as much as I do. The King of Hearts 1 is one of the best romantic vampire romances I have ever read!
Holy shiznet!!! Cassie is one strong, sarcastic female. I love her. Ryder is a straight-laced, by the book kind of guy, and it’s so much fun listening (or reading), to their interactions. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up
Really good book! I really enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more in the series.
This book was a real page turner with the well written storyline and characters that were so well developed that as I turned each and every page I felt like I was looking through a window watching as the story unfolded between the characters!
She has had a few months of problems and now it seems to be getting better. She is a vampire but she is also a con artist. Not easy and she has had to take her death a few times. She takes on another challenge and things are about to hit the fan again. What is going to happen? See what will

Our heroine isn’t a “buy the book” person, so of course she is paired with someone who is. Let’s see how that works out…
This is an urban fantasy novel with lots of action and intrigue. While it is a follow on to the author’s previous serious, it is not necessary to read the other first. This book makes an excellent starting point to join in.
The story is well written, with a solid plot that includes lots of action and intrigue. It is a real page turner, with the reader constantly wanting to see what comes next. Finding time for sleep could be an issue.
But as good as the story is, my favorite part are the characters, particularly the heroine. I love strong, sarcastic heroines and this one fits to a tee.
A very entertaining read and highly recommended.

Loved it!, Love this series
Cassie, story picks up not long after House of Cards ends, and can be read as a stand alone. Cassie has been recruited by the Vampire Old Guard. Her instructor, mentor, and P.I.T.A, Athos, sees her years as a grifter an assert, her sassy mouth, cavalier attitude, and love of movie quotes, are all part of the package. He pairs her up with Ryder, a hot, blond, blue eye, by the book agent, for her first assignment. They mix like oil and water, and can’t keep their hands and other parts off each other.
They are assigned to find a spy from the King of Clubs London territory. Her throw the book out approach lands them in trouble. When things aren’t adding up, Cassie does some investigating on her own. She doesn’t like keeping secrets from Ryder and Athos, but the stakes are high, she isn’t sure who she can trust, because the King of Hearts just may have war on his mind.
Great story. Loved Cassie and Ryder. Fast paced, fun, funny and steamy. Ends in a cliffhanger.

Exciting Vampire Escapade!
Cassie is a snarky, sexy vampire who loves to break all the rules but she’s partnered with Ryder, a straight-laced “follow all the rules” type. They battle out their differences in bed while trying to capture an assassin. Proof that opposites do attract. Great story with plenty of action, drama, suspense, twists, steamy romance and cliffhanger ending. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series. Enjoy!
I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review.

Cassie is now one of the old guards, but she still doesn’t like playing by the rules.
She got Ryder as her companion a man who lives for rules.
First they don’t like each other but they have an amazing way to blow of some steam, just wow!
But when they do those hot moves more and more there are growing some feelings between them.
But Cassie still has her feelers out and when she discovers things aren’t what they look like she can’t let go and has to go looking.
Fantastic read. Pity it ends with a cliffhanger so I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Engaging, exciting, action filled read.
Cassie is a snarky and sassy character with witty dialogue. The chemistry between Cassie and Ryder us on fire!
I liked that there is an insight into the Old Guard from training to imitation to missions.
