J-Bird: I finally felt that itch to settle down that my parents and older brother, Deck, had been hounding me about. Lindsay Parker was the first girl to stir that itch in me. Which made it that much more unfortunate when she introduced me to her best friend, Christina. That girl blew me away the first day we met, but she would forever remain off limits because she would never betray her best … her best friend even if I scraped Lindsay off first. So, I stuck it out with Lindsay and longed for her best friend for seven long months and the announcement that I was about to be a father. Then it all crashed down around me in the most literal sense possible along with the lies I’d been fed. There’s an evil inside me that destroys the women who dare to love me. Never again, and especially not with the one I really wanted, needed, fell so hard for. I would spare her my curse, even if it killed me.
Christina:
I was in love with my best friend’s man! It was getting harder to hide my feelings especially when I had to watch them cuddled up together. My feelings sent me running away to Savannah, Georgia. Sure, it wasn’t far, but I moved in with my aunt to become her nanny while I suffered through blind date boredom on top of blind date disaster trying to find anyone who could make me forget the one man I couldn’t have. It seemed to work until they came to visit to share their good news. I wish I could have been happy for my friend while she got everything I wanted. Instead, I smiled to her face and cursed the fates that night for her meeting him first. I wished I could go back and shove all that bitter resentment down, because by morning, I blamed myself for the ill wishes I had thrown into the universe. By morning, reality came crashing in, and it changed everything.

I wanted to fall in love with the 4th book in the series like I did the first two books. It didn’t quite hit that spot for me though. That being said, the first two books are a TOUGH act to follow. Brilliantly written as two lost souls that are both dealing with shame, anger and unanswered questions find each other and the redemption they each need to move forward in their lives. HIGHLY recommend reading The Other Princess before reading The Killing Ride. Love the way the author incorporated some of her other stories into this one. Made it a fun read.

She did it again!! Twists and turns I did not see coming and all the “gasps” and “hell no!” moments, awesome book! Taking Christina and J-Bird on a journey of growth and healing was inspiring to read! LOVED it!!!

I cannot get enough of this series. I was so glad to read about J-Bird getting a happily ever after all of his own. And the way that Christine Michelle presented it, absolute perfection. Way to bring J-Bird around!
I LOVE THIS SERIES!
This is Jay’s story and even though I didn’t like his character in book 1 he starts to grow on you as the series goes on and now, He’s a complete different man. His heart was filled with so much pain but now it’s opened up and over flowing with love. I thought the story started out kinda slow but it continued to grow and at times things got pretty crazy. There is one point when The Aces have Crow in the basement that Jay turned into a completely different person, it was kind of shocking to see that side in him but then again he was taking out his pain and anger over Toby and Ever to finally lay it to rest. As things about Lindsey and Steven come to light it was insane. Lindsey was so delusional and totally batsh*t crazy. I can’t believe what they did to poor Christine. I was so glad when Lindsey was finally out of the way and Jay never gave up on Christine. Then as feelings started to grow between them it was so heart warming I absolutely loved it. They deserved so much happiness. And when Jay and Ever were at the cemetery I was crying. I love Ever and her forgiving heart, laying old feelings to rest and old wounds to heal. The ending was perfect. The outcome couldn’t have been better. Oh, and I love the introduction of the S.H.E. MC. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES TO EVERYONE.
This is the 1st book I’ve read written by Christine Michelle; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

Every time I think that about one of Christine’s books I am always blown away. I REALLY didn’t want to feel anything for Jay, but alas I did. I refuse to give spoilers in my reviews, but WOW. Some of the things that came out in this book…just wow. Grab your tissues and hold on for the ride!!!
Oh man I wasn’t sure if I could handle J-Bird’s story but I was extremely wrong in so many ways. J-Bird is a true redemption story. After hating him so hard in the Other Princess I have a new respect for him and his losses. Poor Tina!!! If you want a greatly written story of love loss and healing, this is it

** spoiler alert **
The book was good
Let me start by saying that I received an ARC of this book but I also purchased from Amazon to have as part of my collection. Jay (J-Bird) is not my favorite character in the Charleston series so I was not as excited for his book as I was for others in the series. I was disappointed that the main characters hardly had any interaction in the first half of the book. Jay spent to much time crying over Toby’s death and his relationships with Ever, Deck, and his father and the story dragged a bit because of it. I would have enjoyed the story more if the relationship between Jay and Christina had been developing earlier in the story. SPOILERS AHEAD: There is always character deaths in these books but Christina lost her parents to a murder/suicide, her husband to suicide and her best friend to a motorcycle accident. This did not make me feel sympathy for Christina, I just wanted to say “Jeez, how many more people are going to die?”. I did not feel the angst level in this book as I did in the previous books and it did not make me want to cry. I really just wanted to get to the end of the book. The last 25% of the book was great and I wanted more of that part of the story. I was excited that we got to visit with the ladies of SHE and I’m looking forward to reading their stories in the future. It’s incredibly hard to create characters and an entire MC world much less several worlds (MC Chapters), having the various characters interact in all the books and keep their stories and timelines straight but the author, Christine Michelle, does manage this pretty well. There are the usual grammar and punctuation mistakes normally found in self published books but it was not an issue for me.
How do I find the words that justify the awesomeness of this book? The talent that Michelle lays down on paper for us, is astounding.
I didn’t think that J-Bird could ever be redeemed after what happened in The Other Princess, but here comes Christine Michelle to prove me wrong! And boy, oh boy did she do it in a spectacular fashion! Christina is just living her life when a few bombs are dropped on her. She is an amazing woman with a big heart and a better woman than I’ll ever be!
I wear my heart on my sleeve and convey that into reviews. AKA- I’ll spoil the book for you!! So to keep it short and sweet with NO SPOILERS – READ THIS BOOK! You will have all the feels. You’ll be pissed, you’ll be happy, you’ll want to cry but that’s followed up with many smiles.

Christine has done it again. I just love all the angst and turmoil that build up in her books that she just manages to round out and resolve so we’ll.
I’ve been waiting to see Jay’s story. I was always intrigued by what his perspective was and his resolution to everything that has happened in previous books. I rooted for him and Christina the whole way. Can’t wait for what’s next.
Christine’s writing talents skillfully pull you in from the get-go, taking you on the rollercoaster ride of your life. Her breathtaking ups and downs will have you cussing a blue streak to hold off the anguished tears that wanna fall. You’ll be reading on through even though you promised yourself you’d stop for the night at the next chapter. You’ll find yourself noting parallels between your own life and those of these character’s and all of that is what makes for the perfect book, which is what you’ll find in The Killing Ride.
Enter the world of Christine Michelle and her hard-hitting novels that are guaranteed wrap you up from line one, hold you tight through mid-book and then have you giving a long, breathy sigh at The End as you hold her story close to your heart and bask in the warm, happy smile pulling at your lips.
Buy this selection for your Favorites Collection, you’ll be very glad you did.
I have to say that I never liked Jay. When he was introduced in The Other Princess I thought there was no way I would ever like him. I’m glad I was wrong. Jay’s book was so emotional. I think that Christina was a perfect match for him. They have both been through so much. Jay was definitely able to redeem himself in my eyes. He became a character I loved and cried over. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I’m so happy with the way that Jay and Christina grew in the book. They had a great ending and I wish there was more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
What an emotional roller coaster. This book was filled with so many betrayals and lies but also with forgiveness and love. My heart broke for both Christina and J-Bird. They go through a lot but they grow stronger together. I was so happy to see some of guest appearances from the S.H.E MCs. Love those women. I can’t wait to read more.
If you’ve been following this series (Charleston chapter of Aces High), you won’t need an introduction to J-Bird! He’s spent the first three books dealing with consequences of his actions from “The Other Princess” and also, the fallout from what happened to his best friend, Toby. If you’re like me, you absolutely don’t expect J-Bird to find redemption because: 1) He doesn’t deserve it. 2) He might not even realize what a jerk he’s been and finally, he doesn’t deserve forgiveness.
So imagine my surprise when Christine Michelle finds a way to weave all of the previous hostility and anger towards J-Bird and then allows him to turn it around. The best way to help J-Bird find redemption? Introduce Christina, his love interest, who is damaged and broken throughout the book. She’s also seeking her own redemption and forgiveness. As you continue to read the book, it becomes apparent that perhaps it’s misplaced.
***Possible Spoilers***
What a rollercoaster ride these books have been when it comes to J-Bird. He’s easy to target with hatred and resentment for his treatment of Ever. Yet, his own book gives a perspective that we haven’t seen before because I wasn’t ready for it. By the end of the book, you’re rooting for his redemption. And you’re grateful for the person, besides Christina, that helps him find his way towards redemption.
Side notes: You will learn more about PeeWee and Crow! My satisfaction level is off the charts! Thank you, Christine! While this book is somewhat dark, it’s not like the previous books. Plus, you’ll find a female that will be easy to hate. One more thing: You’ll see some old favorites, but not too much.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants all the feels, redemption, and an HEA! You won’t regret it.
Another heart puller! I was hooked from the beginning and just waiting to see where I’d be lead! I wanted to bodily injure both the “husband” and “best friend”, hell I wished she would get hit by car All I can say it was another great addition to the series and I cannot wait (hint hint) for the next book!
Christine Michelle has a way of ripping your heart right out of your chest and putting it back together all in one book! The unexpected twists keep you on your toes, the little hints keep you in suspense, and the redemption of a previously hated character warms your heart. I recieved a free copy, but just had to go buy it as well for fear of accidentally deleting it, now it is safe and sound in my kindle forever. Will definitely read it again and again.
