Tim is a mortician, a quiet unassuming man. He’s married to Susannah, a classically trained chef, an artist of sorts … and a serial killer.
Having escaped jail by killing a deputy, she’s on the run, but she’s also looking for her husband, who has packed his bags and gone … somewhere.
He’s the only man who ever accepted her, loved her in his own way. But he’s made a mistake in thinking that his wife would let him leave her … alive.
I really liked the characters, as flawed as they were. Even knowing she’s a serial killer … she has a line she won’t cross. She won’t kill animals or children or anyone who is an innocent. Most of her victims are men … cruel men, arrogant men, men who use women. Tim comes across initially as a little uninterested in life in general. His basement was filled with his wife’s trophies … and asked why he did not know what she was doing … his response was that she didn’t allow him down there. But now that he knows, he’s afraid she may be coming after him next.
The reader gets to watch both parties on their adventures .. his looking for somewhere new and hers looking for him. Bodies continue to follow Susannah while Tim becomes a stalker of sorts.
This is a well-written psychological crime thriller with memorable characters. THE KILLING GIRL is definitely a page turner …. I read it in one sitting.
This is the follow-up to THE QUIET TYPE, but is easily read as a stand alone. Warning .. there is a slight cliff hanger, which I’m hoping means there is a 3rd book in the making.
Many thanks to the author / S Prescott Thrillers / Netgalley for the digital copy of this thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
What a thrilling ride The Killing Girl provides. Prescott grabbed my attention immediately and held it throughout this thriller. The exposition, for me, is perfect ; there’s no fooling around. Bam! Immediately the action starts with quick details on the protagonist and the character ‘s external and internal conflicts are revealed . Prescott cuts to the chase, literally. Susannah is revealed as a maniacal serial killer on the lam after her arrest. She deftly kills the deputy guarding her and begins her journey away from her home, the police, and her estranged husband Timmy about whom she has decidedly mixed emotions. Her estranged husband also leaves town feeling shunned by neighbors and upset about the collapse of his business after his wife’s terrible “hobby “ is revealed. Susannah explains her reasons/desires to kill her victims, but we are never told what in her background caused this compulsion. I needed to know this., Susannah does seek to find her husband eventually locating him in Florida. As she moves toward Florida, she commits several chilling crimes and upon finding Timmy begins terrorizing him and his attractive female next door neighbors of whom she is jealous. Prescott skillfully structures the novel and the suspense is nerve wracking, not to mention the ending! Read.this.book.

Susannah and Tim are on the run for very different reasons, she needs a padded room with a straight jacket Maybe some shock treatment too. lol her husband will be ending up in the nut house too, maybe they’ll have matching rooms lol. I really enjoyed this and hope the story continues. A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author
The Killing Girl is a page turning thriller about Susannah a serial killer on the hunt for her husband. Her Husband Tim, is a quiet mortician who has no idea that his wife was a serial killer and is now on the run, a fugitive from his serial killing wife who will stop at nothing to find him.
The story is told in alternating perspectives between Susannah and Tim which adds to the complexity of the plot. Susannah does not let anyone or anything stop her from finding her husband killing anyone on the way.
The characters are so multi-dimensional it is as if you are in their heads. Dare I say I was rooting for the serial killer because this book is THAT good! This psychological thriller will leave you on the edge of your seat flipping pages as fast as possible.
Many readers know Summer Prescott for her fantastic cozy mysteries. This is a psychological thriller that is so well done. It takes a very talented author to be able to cross genres and do it THIS WELL. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves thrillers and stories about serial killers. You don’t want to miss this one! Trust me!!!!!!
A horrifying, stunning, emotional and
riveting read!! This book is supercharged,
psychological thriller!! It is power packed
with thrills and chills that will take your
breath away.
The story puts you will the serial killer as if
you are right there beside her. The fear,
smells, dirt, blood are communicated so
vividly that you will be left haunt the story.
The characters are complex, multifaceted
and three dimensional.
The story rotates between the killers view
and raw intensity for killing and her husband’s
action in trying to avoid being found by the
killer.
Drama, tension and intrigue is heightened to
mountainous proportions.
Once you start reading you will keep going
from the first word until the surprising ending.
I volunteered to read The Killing Girl. Thanks
to the author via Booksprout for the opportunity.
My opinion is my own.
As the sequel to The Quiet Type, I felt like maybe I was missing some information. However, I can always go back to read that book, this book was easy enough to get into. The main character, incredibly sick and most likely a true example of what a serial killer would be like, I cringed on many occasions throughout this story. That is what horror is about. Well-written, though at times, awkward language, overall, very good.

This was slightly disappointing and not quite what I expected as I wasn’t aware that this was a sequel, so I hadn’t read book 1. I was able to eventually get in to the story and follow along. There is a lot of drama, suspense, intrigue and gore in this book, but then again what else would you expect when reading a book about a serial killer!?! The story moves along nicely and is very well written, you may have a bad dream afterwards if you read this just before going to bed, I suggest reading it in daylight!

OMG Summer has done it again!!!!! This book is something else! It grabs ahold of you from the very first sentence to the very last! In fact I had to read the last page twice to make sure I really had read what my mind thought I did. WOW!
This is her second thriller and if this and the first one are any indication she is going places.
In this one Susannah is in jail and Tim is selling everything he has to leave town. Little does he know that she has escaped and is on the hunt to find him and reunite. He finds a place where he can settle down and maybe become a baker. He has neighbors that sort of accept him and he is starting to relax…then his nightmare comes true and he realizes that Susannah has found him.
Susannah is after the only man that ever loved her. Then he left her. That was a terrible mistake Tim! After all, Tim knows what Susannah does, she kills people she thinks deserves it. Tim is her obsession and she always gets what she wants. Can Tim keep ahead of her and stay alive? This is a strange love story to say the least. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.
The Killing Girl is a thriller about serial killer Susannah who is on the run from the police. The chapters alternate between Susannah’s point of view and the point of view of her husband Tim, a mortician who has been blindsided after discovering the truth about his wife. This was a page-turner and I was unable to put it down, alternating between hoping Susannah would get caught, and rooting for her to get away. The way the author is able to get you into the psyche of Susannah and Tim, while also letting you know how their actions are being perceived by those around them is incredible. There were moments, when reading, where I was just as anxious as the characters, wondering what was going to happen next.
Be forewarned: As this is a book about a serial killer, there were some parts of the book that were a bit too gory for my liking and made me queasy. If you are sensitive to those kinds of details, like I am, this may not be the book for you. For this reason, I couldn’t give the book five stars.

I was hooked from the beginning and thought I would really like it. And I did enjoy the first 40% or so. But then I got bored. I could not connect to either character at all. I am not sure what caused them to act the way they did. And the ending was strange. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
