Unlike most of his contemporaries, however, Jim actually had … of his contemporaries, however, Jim actually had the goods: a plethora of super powers that would have been the envy of any meta on the planet. But when his tryout with the Alpha League – the world’s premiere group of supers – goes disastrously wrong, Jim basically becomes an outcast.
Two years later, Jim is still bitter about what happened to him. However, he soon finds himself the centerpiece in an odd turn of events that gives him a second chance at his dream. But nothing is as easy as it sounds, as Jim soon discovers. Among other things, he’s made an enemy of a prospective super teammate, he’s being stalked by an unknown pursuer, and a shadowy cabal bent on world domination has identified him as the only obstacle to their plans.
It’s a lot for one super to handle, even with a smorgasbord of abilities. But if saving the world were easy, everyone would do it…
____
MUTATION (Kid Sensation #2)
Kid Sensation is back! The intrepid teen super with the plethora of powers returns in a new adventure.
Having saved the planet and earned a place with the world’s premiere superhero team, Jim (aka Kid Sensation) is preparing to attend the prestigious Academy, where teen supers from every corner of the globe learn to master their abilities. At the same time, however, he is approached by a mysterious government organization that wants Jim to work for them – and they won’t take “No” for an answer.
Moreover, at the Academy itself, an insidious and highly contagious virus is running amok through the student population, striking at the heart of their abilities. Students are losing control of their powers, with lethal consequences…
Now, in addition to evading the machinations of government agents, Jim must solve the mystery behind the virus – and how to stop it – before every super everywhere becomes fatally infected.
_______
INFILTRATION (Kid Sensation #3)
Having a surfeit of super powers is great for battling bad guys and saving the world, as Jim (aka Kid Sensation) is finding out, but less useful in dealing with day-to-day situations – like bonding with his superhero father, adjusting to a team environment, and coping with what might be perceived as a growing rivalry between himself and another teen super. On top of all that, despite having a serious girlfriend, he finds himself inexplicably drawn to a new female super he’s just met.
At the same time, some villain has just gotten himself a new toy: an unknown weapon of tremendous power that is able to strike without warning, causing unprecedented destruction and loss of life. Perhaps more terrifying, the wielders of this weapon make no demands and issue no threats; they simply attack. Even the Alpha League, the world’s greatest superhero team, is not immune, suffering an assault on their very own doorsteps.
It quickly becomes clear that the only way to stop this new evil is from within. With his unique abilities, Jim is the only person capable of infiltrating the enemy’s ranks. It’s up to him to figure out who is behind these attacks, what they want, and find a way to stop them – and their secret weapon – before they bring the entire world to its knees.

Fun for Superhero Fans
The Kid Sensation series from Kevin Hardman is a blast if you’re a fan of superhero/comic stories. Even if you’re not a fan yet, these books are a lot of fun for all ages. These books basically reminded me of a comic book in the way each book deals with specific situation and one book feeds into the next book, which happens relatively soon after the previous book. As a fan of both comic books and superheroes, I loved them!
Jim is a teen up-and-coming superhero with an enviable power set. He’s got the lineage and a bunch of abilities, but has a lot to learn about being a superhero. While he’s more than earned the “Sensation” name, his own youth and inexperience are what limits him from being over-the-top powerful, and that’s a good thing. On paper, he looks to be more than a match for any villain, but that would quickly get boring if that’s the way Kevin Hardman had written these stories. Instead, the stories and Jim are entertaining as Jim learns the ropes of being a superhero, becoming a good family member and friend.
These books were a lot of fun and I’m really happy that Kevin chose to write these books so that I can listen to them with my kids. They are big superhero fans as well and this series is good, clean fun. There’s no bad language or questionable “scenes” between characters outside of the typical comic book-style superhero violence (nothing graphic or overly violent). The stories were quick, but satisfying. The characters were interesting and there is some growth, but these books do happen soon after the previous book, so don’t expect big sweeping changes in how the characters act from one book to the next. All three of these books happen over the course of a couple of months.
Narrator:
Mikael does a great job narrating these stories. He’s got a variety of voices that are perfectly suited for superheroes and villains alike. He was enjoyable to listen to and doesn’t detract from the books in any way. I definitely recommend this series.
I really enjoyed this. Kid Sensation is trying to navigate life as a young man with superpowers who was rejected from the superhero league. There’s some action and a little mystery but I really likes seeing how Jim deals with the rejection and the new situation he finds himself in. Kevin Hardman’s world building was great, I was really intrigued by the school location.
Mikael Naramore’s narration was fantastic and really brought the story to life.

I have really enjoyed listening to this.
Great humor and imagination. I totally related to the characters, and relived so many thoughts and feelings I had at that age. It also gave me many perspectives to think about. Uplifting.
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review
This series is amazing! A fun, entertaining story appropriate for all ages. Jim is a good kid who has a great attitude and outlook on life who also happens to have more superpowers than anyone else in the world. And with this bundle, you get the first 3 books for a great price!
Sensation: Book 1 – Very enjoyable! Very enjoyable story about growing up in a world where some people have superpowers with enough twists and turns to keep it entertaining.
Mutation: Book 2 – Outstanding! A great continuation of Jim’s entry into the world of superheroes. Action, adventure, good friends, and saving the world…what more could you want?
Infiltration: Book 3 – Awesome! Action, adventure, great humor and unexpected twists. Wonderful!
This review is for the audio book but still applies to the book.
Wow so glad I discovered this series, I just loved it and was hooked from the very start. It has everything you could want with a for good story – action, plot twists, mysteries super powers, family life, good guys and bad guys. What’s even better is in this one book you get three great stories for the price of one. So what’s stopping you from getting it?
Book one Sensation- A teenage boy finds himself talked into trying out to become a super hero but having previously tried out before where it ends disastrously he know he has his work cut out for him. To make matters worse there is also a bounty on his head, it’s a good job he is a shape shifter. Things get really serious when a team of super villains start to target him.
This was a great story and a really good introduction to the characters and there individual powers.
Book two Mutation – Jim and his friends are off to super hero academy to learn how to become better hero’s. School life is hard enough but add in a group of teenagers with powers and things are bound to go wrong. Then pupils start losing control of there powers and the virus seems to be spreading. Can Jim save the day?
I love the twists this book takes and the way Jim has to out smart his deadly foes and with all the action it keeps you listening. You could easily see this being made into a film.
Book three infiltration- With super heros popularity waning slightly from a few mishaps lately they decided to hold a charity competition between the teen super heros to boost morale. So Jim not only has to compete in the televised event but he also has to take down a mystery force that keep setting of bombs all before someone gets hurts and as the main targets seems to be his father he had better hurry.
I think this was the weaker story out of the three as there was a lot of information about the teenage trails which was fun but it took a long time before Jim engaged the hunt for the bad guys. Still worth listening too though.
I really liked the narrator and he definitely helped bring each of the characters to life.
I can’t wait to start the next book in the series.
