Heather Frazer is the last of the Frazer line descended from Mungo Frazer who was reported to have been killed during a peace mission by Gavin MacGregor. Having been passed up for another promotion, she’s sent to Scotland for a job there. It turns out that she’s being sent back to the Middle Ages with an enchanted key to steal the knife reported to have been used by Gavin to kill Mungo and return with it thus improving the lot of the Frazers. However, things don’t go as planned when she’s drawn into the real story of what’s going and begins falling for Gavin. While the Barefoot Man has been defeated, it seems his mother has returned and is wreaking havoc in the highlands. Can Gavin and Heather defeat her and save the clans?
The fifth in the Clan MacGregor series, “The Key to His Castle” was as fresh as the first. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and kept hooked through the end. The story is full of intrigue as Gavin and Heather find their way through the events going on and to each other. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest reading in order. I’m looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
This is the fifth book in this series, it can be read as a standalone story. Another wonderful well-written and well described medieval romance. The storyline is fast-paced and well thought out, the characters are amazingly likable and charismatic. I loved the interaction between Heather and Gavin. I can’t wait for the next book.
If you had a chance to go to the past and change something that has negatively affected your family line for 700 years would you take it?
Heather has that chance because of a little silver key. But when she gets to the door she doesn’t want to go through. But she is pushed through anyway. So she decides to save the Frazier clan leader by taking the supposed murder weapon. Soon she discovers that things are not always what they seem.
What happens when she starts to have feelings for the handsome Gavin MacGregor, the one who is to murder her past clan leader, Mungo?
Only one more key left. If you haven’t started this series yet, there is still time to catch up. This is a clean romance.
I have chosen to leave my honest opinion after reading a free arc of this book.
Very well written and captivating story with nice storyline and plot. I like the characters and how they develop. You can connect with them. Their chemistry is hot. The Key series is one of my favourite series right now. I like that flow of them and this one did not disappoint me. It is a time travel story where she comes from the future to his world in the past.
She has been tought to hate the MacGregors because they ruined her family a long time ago, but now she lands in their world and what can she do now. She sees what happened from the side of the MacGregors and gets attracted to the laird of the clan.
A story with drama, action, steam, twists and that makes it really worth the read.
This is the fifth story in the MacGregor Clan series a well written story, this series is getting better with each new book. I wonder what the letter said, will we find out in the next book? I will be reading the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The exciting continuation of the MacGregor Clan’s fight against the dark mystical evil existing throughout decades of their history. The Druids had magic of their own and created six magical keys that would be spread throughout time for people in the future to travel to the past in order to help the people of Scotland fight the dark evil. This is the story of the fifth key. The Frazer clan in the present were a scattered lost people. They were a mighty clan in the past but the murder of Laird Mungo Frazer changed the fate of all the Frazers. Helen Frazer is a descendant. She, her parents and their parent before them and down the line hated the MacGregors for killing Mungo and changing their fortunes. After a tragedy and later a betrayal, Helen was assigned to the Scotland office for an assignment. She was misled and ended up in the middle ages only to meet the bane of her family’s existence, Gavin MacGregor. Fearful and confused Helen learned day by day not all was as it seemed. This is an exciting action and adventure surely to thrill any Medieval Highland Time Travel enthusiast. OH… I was remiss in not mentioning the attraction between Gavin and Helen. This is a CLEAN read. I highly recommend it and I look forward to the next book about the sixth key. Mayhap the evil is not over yet. We shall see.
What would you do for revenge? How far would you go? How about going hundreds of years in the past? That’s what Heather does. Yet when she arrives in the past she starts to realize that things might not be what she’s always believed. I’ve been a fan of Ms. Dabney’s since her first book. She has a way of “painting” a scene with words that you can see as if you were there. This story is no exception…loved it!
*I received an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
This is a very enjoyable sweet and clean, time travel romance. It was easy to get swept up into Gavin and Heather’s romance. There is lots of powerful emotions, drama, tension and angst as the storyline unfolds. I found the characters to be quite likable and the story was engaging as Heather’s head and heart warred over duty toward family and a love stronger than time.
The fifth key shows up and this time it’s given to Heather. She’s going back in time to try and change the future for her family. Then she meets Gavin and she finds out things are not at all what she had thought. Together they accomplish so much.
This is another delightful addition to the Key series and this time it’s Gavin and Heather’s story. He’s from the past and she’s from the future. Being a Frazer, Heather has grown up hating the MacGregors for what had occurred hundreds of years ago to ruin her family and now she suddenly finds herself in a position to go into the past and change the outcome. Once she meets Gavin, though, she cannot hate him and she learns the truth of what truly happened.
I thought this was a well written story that progressed quickly and was filled with adventure, romance and suspense. I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
When Heather Frazer is swept back through time to medieval Scotland, she has one goal, find the man who ruined her family.
The fierce laird, Gavin MacGregor, doesn’t know why the strange woman hates him so much. All he knows is that she’s the most beautiful creature he’s even seen.
The Key to His Castle is a spellbinding and well written time travel romance set in a magical world filled with intrigue and passion. This book like all of the others in this series can easily be read as a standalone. Read this one only or read the series in order of publication. It will not matter as they can be read either way. It has it’s passionate moments but none that are explicit in nature. I have read and enjoyed every book that this author has written including all of this series.
I gave this book 4.5 of 5.0 stars for story line and characterization.
