Really enjoyed this series
A great start to a new series called Clan MacGregor and I know I want to read the next book. History student Rachel Fisher gets sent back through time to twelfth century Scotland by a mysterious box she has found. Grizzled warrior Cam MacGregor finds her and takes her to his home. This is a clean romance with strong Scottish Highlanders. I will be reading this book again. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book in the Clan MacGregor Series. A clean historical romance was was fun to read. Well written with interesting characters and an entertaining storyline. A time travel story that takes you back to twelfth century Scotland. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review this book.
This is creepy, suspenseful, fascinating and entertaining. It’s a cross between a romance novel and a Stephen King book. It would make an interesting movie. Cam is fierce, brave, protective and not easily shocked. Rachel is a vulnerable, naive, caring and sweet woman who has been mentally and physically abused her whole life. Her brother is an unfeeling jerk who likes to mess with her. He calls to remind her about their adoptive mother’s funeral two hours before the funeral, claiming that he sent an email, then accused her of trying to steal his inheritance when she went. Right before he called she received a package, a locked box with no key. She happens to find a key in her room at her mother’s house when she’s there after the funeral. When she gets back home she uses the key to unlock the box, inside is a necklace. When she puts it on and closes her hand around the pendant, she finds herself in the past in Cam’s bedroom. When Cam wakes up and finds her there, he has no problem accepting her story. The clan thinks she’s part of a prophecy and wants to sacrifice her, Cam feels the need to protect her. Then the story gets creepy and intense, with a few twists it makes for an intriguing story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
The key to understanding the past is to live through it…
History student Rachel Fisher has dreamed of the past all her life. When a mysterious box sends her back through time to twelfth century Scotland she thinks her dreams have come true.
Grizzled warrior Cam MacGregor knows one thing. He must not fall for the beguiling lass with the flaming red hair. Already whispers are spreading among the clan that he has taken her in because she’s bewitched him.
The danger is inherent with the barefoot man who is wreaking havoc across the highlands.
Who is this dangerous stranger really?
This first book in this new series draws the reader in with all of it’s paranormal aspects. Time travel, commanding demons and love for a previously unloved heroine and a man who refuses to have anything to do with love are just a few of the things that make this another winner from this author.
This book drew me in and didn’t let go.
I gave this book 4.75 of 5.0 stars for story line, plot and character development.

A clean time travel romance set in Scotland. This one follows Rachel as she tries to find out who her real mother is and she get taken to the past through a necklace and a key. She arrives in the midst of trouble. A evilness is spreading through the land. Someone called “the barefoot man” is killing people and destroying clans.
Rachel meets the Cam, the Laird of clan MacGregor. They work to together to stop the evil and to return Rachel to the time period she belongs.
I enjoyed the story immensely and recommend it to any who likes clean romances and strong Scottish Highlanders. I was offered an arc copy for free but read this book through KU and chose to leave my honest review.
A key and a mysterious box hold a necklace that takes Rachel back in the past to the highlands. There she meets Cam the Laird of the MacGregors. Together they go on an adventure to get her back to the present. Along the way they take on Evil and save the clan.
I love Highlander time travel stories. This book was written with less details than others I have read. There are so many loose ends that maybe will be explained in the next book in the series. I do hope so. I felt the romance in this story did not progress smoothly. It felt thrown into the story for the dramatic effect. The overall storyline is very good, I just feel there is room for improvement in explaining the different aspects of the story. I do look forward to reading the next book because I want answers to my questions. Like I said, I hope I get them.
New series…New clan
This is a great start to a new series with a new Scottish clan. Ms. Dabney has a way of spinning a tale that makes you feel like you’re actually in 12th century Scotland with Rachel and Cam. If Cam can keep Rachel from being sacrificed, the two may have a chance at a HEA.
*I received an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
This is an extremely enjoyable time travel historical romance. A exciting plot is paired with likable characters to create a book that quickly sweeps you up into all the adventure, tensions, emotional turmoil, drama and intense desire. The pull of attraction between Rachel and Cam was easy to feel and I thought their chemistry simply sizzled. A great read!
This was such an enjoyable book to read, I do love my time travel historical romances!!! It always makes me want to travel back in time and experience it for myself:) The author does a wonderful job of keeping the story flowing amidst twists and turns and a few surprises!
Rachel Fisher finds herself transported back to the Medieval Highlands and the first person she meets is Cam MacGregor, Laird of his clan. It’s not a good time to be there, though, because the clan believes she’s a witch and want her sacrificed to appease the “Barefoot Man” who has been ravaging the countryside. Cam makes it his duty to protect her while they try to figure out how to get her back home and it takes them on quite the adventure!
I must say there’s a part near the end that had me giggling….about the soccer! lol
