Imagine that Area 51 is really an intergalactic launch pad and you get contemporary sci-fi with far future FTLS tech. Add a kick-ass pilot, sexy Alien Warrior and a galactic level battle against evil for a super story. Throw in some nano-cytes and its no holds barred. I liked everything about the Fyn (hero) and Sara (heroine) and the villain while a bad guy, had enough dimension to be interesting.
very good read
Traveling to another galaxy, dropping into an old war and finding out that is where you originate and are now the new cause of the conflict is how this story begins. I enjoyed everything about the read (except for too many ‘bravo zulu’ references that, unless you were in the armed services, you will most likely NOT understand.) But, it did NOT detract from the actual storyline.
I found “The Key” exciting , different, plausible. a real page turner and most of all I felt it was a complete story.
I could not put this book down. Such strong and wonderful characters. This is a must read if you love romance, si-fi or just a good read.
This was different and I liked it. My only complaint is that the romance seemed secondary and the sex was implied. I like my romances a little more central to the story and developed, and the intimacy a lot steamier. I don’t think I’ll continue the series but it was worth the read.
The book was good
FYI… this book is long, but I really enjoyed the whole story. Sci-fi at its best.
This book got right from the start did not want to put the book down. Great reading
Really good sci-fi!
This is an amazingly complex book that had me hooked from the first. Love the characters of Sara and Fyn, two souls that have so many demons behind them that the reader wonders about a happy ending at all. The story grabs the reader and takes them on a rollercoaster ride that keeps the reader guessing until the last page. Such a great read and I can’t wait to catch the next in the series. Enjoy!
This book “normalized” an alien romance into an everyday relationship, taking the extraordinary back down to very ordinary. If these characters need to be developed more.
This one was good.
I want to like this book, I truly do. I’m 75% in and I’m just not. The premise is good, but everything else about this book is mediocre at best.
Guy stranded alone on plant watches another being crash and goes to see if there are survivors or anything salvageable. His fellow crashie turns out to be a human woman. Naturally, he takes her back to his cave to help her recover.
She’s from Earth, a member of the first ever super secret mission that put humans in space beyond their own moon…. and she and the alien both speak English??? Well, except for all the acronyms the woman babbles at the alien guy, who just happens to look like a very tall human with dreadlocks???? And the acronyms may be real, but they are forced and used to the point where I can’t follow what our lead character is saying, even with the all explanations she gives the alien, and this goes on for most of the book.
It’s lust/love a 1st sight too, btw, so off they go to her ship where the Alien guy is accepted and welcomed, becoming part of the crew on day one. Everything is so perfect-oh, except for the bits where there are hints she might not be a “normal” human. Those hints kept me hopeful until I knew who/what those hints were referring too.
Another issue for me is that no matter how disrespectful, or wild/over the top her behavior is, or how often she twists her orders around to suit her, our heroine’s never reprimanded or disciplined. Just the opposite; she’s like a poster child for the favorite/popular kid amongst her superiors- Get at grip; it’s the military!
Anytime she might actually be in any form of difficulty, up pops a new ability and, ta-da, our heroine has saved herself yet again. She isn’t even in trouble long enough for me to blink before that happens either-grrrr.
Okay, enough ranting. Have a great day!
Enjoyed this book hadn’t read any Sci fy in a while. Read the first book and purchased the second book and then purchased the rest of the series. I’m hooked.
