With Keto For One, get 100 delicious dishes for every meal of the day—perfectly proportioned and macro-balanced. Single-serve cooking is one of the biggest challenges when trying to adhere to an eating plan. Most recipes are portioned for 4–6 servings, which means you’ll be eating the same thing for a week or trying to adjust recipes and struggling to figure out proper cooking times and … cooking times and fractions of measurements. With keto, you also have the additional challenge of balancing your macronutrients—a few too many carbs or not enough fat and your recipe is no longer in the ketogenic zone.
No more fussing with recipes. No more eating leftovers. No more wasted food (or money!). No more cobbling together snacks and calling it a meal. No more temptation to give into carb-laden, nutrient-void, single-serving convenience foods. Just delicious recipes from “low-carb queen” and best-selling author Dana Carpender. Enjoy delicious keto burgers and smoothies, as well as quick skillet stir-fries and plenty of tasty meals that can be pulled together quickly or ahead of time.

The Keto For One Cookbook is probably one of the most thoroughly researched and organized specialty diet cookbooks I’ve had the privilege to read. I truly enjoyed everything about it! The recipes are tasty and easy to follow, the pictures of the meals are beautiful and enticing, and the overall organization of the book makes it easy to follow.
The author, Dana Carpender, begins this cookbook by clearly explaining what a keto diet is and how to successfully navigate the basics of the diet. She thoroughly explains how to determine how much fat to eat, the necessary percentage of fat to calories, and how to easily calculate your carb intake. I found this section to be very valuable for beginners, as well as for those who have more experience with the keto diet.
Next, the author shares many wonderful and valuable ideas about the varied essential ingredients necessary to the keto diet and the importance of keeping these ingredients in stock. She discusses the importance of different sweeteners, sugar alcohols, liquid sweeteners, guard gum, MCT oil, and sugar free chocolate chips, just to name a few. All of these different ingredients will make a difference in both the taste and the quality of these keto recipes. I found this section to be quite an eye opening experience and I learned so much about these ingredients. I wasn’t familiar with some of these ingredients and I’m so glad the author did such a wonderful job explaining them all. I also enjoyed the authors tips on how to save money and how to avoid leftovers by purchasing some of the ingredients at a grocery store’s salad bar.
The cookbook is divided into eight chapters with a great selection and variety of delicious recipes to choose from. There are also a lot of beautiful pictures showing how these recipes will look when completed. I found the cookbook easy to read with recipes that are easy to make and clear and concise step by step instructions. The author includes so many different and valuable tips and ideas that ensure a successful and delicious outcome.
I enjoyed making many of these recipes and I found it easy to make minor changes (to accommodate my preferences/health issues) that still resulted in a delicious recipe. I enjoyed the many extra tips and recommendations that are useful to any recipe or diet.. The author’s enthusiasm about the keto diet and these 100 recipes is clearly evident by the thoroughly researched and well rounded selection of delicious recipes that are found in this cookbook. This cookbook has something for everyone and I highly recommend it!! I know I’ll be using this cookbook and referring to it often
and I look forward to enjoying many more delicious meals! Enjoy!
I would like to thank the author and publisher for a free copy of this cookbook through NetGalley in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.
So unless you’re living on the moon, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Keto. I’ll admit I could lose some weight and have considered looking into Keto. But having a family and knowing that they wouldn’t be eating with me, makes it difficult to consider cooking big recipes that I would eat for a week by myself. So when I saw this cookbook “The Keto for One Cookbook”, I thought it might be the answer!
Starting with the cover, it’s visually appealing with several pictures of the recipes inside. As you first get into the cookbook, the author has given a nice easy explanation of Keto in the Introduction. The first chapter is dedicated to preparing for Keto Cooking with lots of information on how and what to buy. Chapter 2 thru 8 gives us the recipes!
Here is the Table of Contents:
INTRODUCTION What is a Keto Diet?
CHAPTER 1 Keto Cooking for One (or Two)
CHAPTER 2 Eggs, Dairy, and the Like
CHAPTER 3 Soups and Sides
CHAPTER 4 Main Dish Salads
CHAPTER 5 Hot Entrées
CHAPTER 6 Snacks and Sweets
CHAPTER 7 Drinkables
CHAPTER 8 Condiments and Sauces
Now for the recipes! Not all recipes have photos, but the ones that do, look delicious and tempting. Each recipe is set up with ingredients, directions, and nutritional information. Recipe pages are clean, clear and concise without overly complicated ingredients or instructions.
Here are several recipes I have bookmarked to try:
SHAKSHUKA
CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP WITH POACHED EGGS
SOPA MEXICANA, RÁPIDO Y FÁCIL
CURRIED CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP
GINGER-LIME CHICKEN SALAD
LATE SUMMER SALAD
SOUTHWESTERN TUNA ON AVOCADO WITH CHIPOTLE CREMA
LIME SALMON WITH LIME-CHIPOTLE CREMA
SCALLOP SHIRATAKI WITH SUN-DRIED TOMATOES AND PINE NUTS
Overall I liked the layout of this cookbook and the recipes did seem to be fairly easy to cook. Obviously, if you wanted to double or triple the recipe amounts for more than one, most of the recipes would be easily converted. I would definitely recommend this cookbook to anyone who may want to try Keto, or who is on Keto but are looking for some new variety in their recipes.
A good collection of recipes to help this complete novice navigate the Keto way of life. I was a bit put off by the number of processed foods used but other than that, a very informative book.
Would have liked a few more vegetarian recipes to incorporate different types of proteins. I’m the only veggie/diet plan user in the house so it was great to have single portions
The whole keto diet ideal is relatively new to me. After hearing a lot from friends I admit to being intrigued and this cookbook is my first foray into exploring the subject. As someone that enjoys cooking and is a self proclaimed cookbook junkie, I found this to be a likable and welcome addition to my collection. A wide range of recipes, many attractive pictures, easy to follow directions and a very informative look into what the keto diet is and how it works, makes this book a great combination of practical and enjoyable. Having recipes that are curated for one to two people is a real plus as there are no endless leftovers or trying to successfully convert the recipe yourself. An excellent choice for anyone looking into going keto or those already living that way that just want a new collection of recipes to try out. Of my own accord I am posting a candid review.
The Keto for One Cookbook by Dana Carpender
100 Delicious Make-Ahead, Make-Fast Meals for One (or Two) That Make Low-Carb Simple and Easy
In the introduction to this cookbook I finally found out the math used to determine how many protein, fat and carb grams one should have daily when doing a Keto diet. Instead of starting with calories one starts with desired weight and how many protein grams based on that weight to eat, add in 20 carb grams and the rest is fat. That said…there is a LOT more fat in these recipes than most weight loss diets. I have tried low carb diets in the past for periods of time and they do work so having an arsenal of good recipes for variety is important. This is NOT a diet you would want to follow if you want quantities of fruit, veg, carbs and milk but it is a diet that many thrive on.
The book is broken into chapters that include: an introduction; keto for one or two; eggs, dairy and such; soups and sides; main dish salads; drinkables; condiments and sauces.
