Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles—the inspiration for the hit TNT series—continue their bestselling crime-solving streak. For untold years, the perfectly preserved mummy had lain forgotten in the dusty basement of Boston’s Crispin Museum. Dubbed “Madam X,” the recently rediscovered mummy is, to all appearances, an ancient Egyptian artifact. But medical examiner Maura Isles discovers a macabre … discovers a macabre message hidden within the corpse–horrifying proof that this “centuries-old” relic is instead a modern-day murder victim. When the grisly remains of two other women are found, it becomes clear to Maura and Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli that a maniac is at large. Now Maura and Jane must unravel a murderer’s twisted endgame before the Archaeology Killer adds another chilling artifact to his monstrous collection.

The Keepsake is another wonderful Tess Gerritsen tale from start to finish. Boston Medical Examiner Maura Isles is part of a team that sets out to examine an ancient Egyptian mummy kept in the basement of the Crispin Museum. The problem begins when Isles discovers the mummy is neither Egyptian nor ancient. After the discovery of two other bodies, …
Lots of twists and turns…another real page turner!
Another good entry by Tess Gerritsen. Also, another serial killer story (sort of) by Tess Gerritsen. Four is enough, Ms. Gerritsen, move on.
I say it’s sort of a serial killer story because in this book, the killer is really only after one person and using others to achieve that goal. The plot is complex and engaging with some surprising twists …
GOOD READ! This was my first Tess Gerritsen novel and it delivered. A page turning thriller with nicely developed characters from Rizzoli and Isles all the way to the supporting characters. I was surprised at Dr. Isles lack of involvement, she’s only in a few chapters, but it didn’t take away from the story and I’m thirsty for more!
Gerritsen writes the best good old stories! I enjoyed this one and also learned some things about mummification to boot! Keeps you guessing who the villain is until the end!
An ancient mummy turns up in the basement of a private Boston museum. The wrappings carbon date back 2,000 years, but she’s got amalgam fillings in her mouth an a 22 caliber bullet in her leg. Shrunken heads, bog people and oh my the things Jane and Maura have to sleuth through in this wonderfully entertaining thriller.
Love this series
I’d always wanted to read Tess Gerritsen, mostly because I’m a fan of the TV show, Rizzoli and Isles, the plucky and resourceful detective and the medical examiner, respectively, and, lo and behold, come to find out Tess has written a book about modern-day mummies. Since my next book involves that gruesome procedure, I was happy (?) to read her …
Kellerman at his best!
Grabs and holds your attention.
Love the characters but not some of the language.
She always has a good read about the two women protagonists.
Great page-turner. Made me want more until I finished reading it to the end!
Great book as usual for Tess!
This is one of her best! Could not put it down. Lots of turns and unexpected answers. Loved it!
Tess Gerritson in top form.
I read this so long ago, but, I have always enjoyed Tess’s books and would always recommend them. Enjoy.
Always a great read…
Good Read
This book has a little of all the things I enjoy in a good book. Love the characters, no wonder the series “Rizzoli and Aisles” lasted so long!
