There was no better way to put it: Max Tucker was running away. The newly-constructed Puffin Point Lighthouse on the forested shores of Oregon seemed like the perfect place to nurse his broken heart, with its sweeping views of rock and wave and near-isolation from society. Until he visits Spruce Hill, that is. The little lumber town’s locals seem to be welcoming and kind, embracing Chauntis Bay’s … Chauntis Bay’s newest keeper of the light and making it easier to move forward with a new life. But when a violent winter storm threatens the integrity of the lighthouse and a foundered ship washes up to shore, Max is bewildered to find a single, unbelievable survivor…
A sweet historical romance novella full of small-town charm and hair-raising adventure! Prequel to the Keeper’s of the Light multi-author series.
more
This is a wonderful beginning to a really fascinating series about the keepers of the lighthouses off Oregon’s coast.
I can’t wait for book two. Somehow I managed to read the last story in the series, so I already know that this series will be wonderful and I found a new author who’s work so far I am really enjoying.
TIS A NOBLE CAUSE, TO BE SURE, KEEPER
The prequel will set up this series that takes place in 1869, starting in August and ending in December of that year. It will have Max Tucker as the new Keeper for the Puffin Point Lighthouse on the Northern Oregon Coast. The story is a great beginning, with interesting details of the life and duty of the Keeper, as well as the enormous responsibility of maintaining the lighthouse, keeping the light burning, and the foghorn in tip-top shape.
“Here, I can make a difference. I can save lives.”
The duties of Keeper is a lonely one, isolated from most, and even the nearest town, Spruce Hill, is hours away on a narrow and winding path through the thick forest. He will have someone that will bring supplies every so often, giving him an occasional guest.
“He’d wondered himself how he’d fare as the sole keeper of the Puffin Point lighthouse. He was comfortable with the duties expected of him and believed he could perform them efficiently.”
The story has a little bit of a back story, about a young woman, Lottie, that Max had fallen in love with, but their social classes will keep them apart. That doesn’t mean that Lottie isn’t in his thoughts and memories. But will fate bring Lottie back to him?
The story of Max and Lottie will continue in Love’s Sweet Return.
He admits it, he is running away and he get the job of a lighthouse keeper. He is welcomed by the little town and he hopes a new start will help heal his broken heart. A violent storm comes along and a wrecked ship is found with one survivor, a female. What happened to her? Will he find out? Can a love bloom between them? See if it can

Sweet Historical Romance
Intriguing from the first page, I loved this introduction into the series! Set in my home state of Oregon, I can picture the cliffs and the abusive waves. I can smell the salt air and the presence of fish and other sea life. I can’t wait to read the continuation of this romance in book 2!
This story is much too short as an introduction to the series. And, of course, it is continued into the next book so there is no closure until you buy book 2. I’m disappointed from that standpoint.
She lost the only thing she ever truly wanted: love. Isn’t that what we all long for deep down? What could be worse or better depending on your perspective. When Charlotte ship wrecks off the Oregon coast during a terrible storm, she wakes in the unfamiliar keepers’ quarters of a lighthouse. And guess who rescued her? The man she loved and lost. Can Charlotte find it in her heart to forgive him and embrace a second chance romance?
Read it in this sweet historical romance as it unfolds in small-town Spruce Hill.
This book is well written and to the point! Lighthouses are one of my favorite things so the chance to read this thrilled me. So much goes on in this short story but it is fast paced and a great story line. I am anxious to read the next book in this series.

This well-written book was short read and flowed very well. The author did a great job at writing a good short story with great characters that have depth. I cannot wait to read more of her books. The story line grabbed the attention a from start to finish. I loved the chemistry between the characters and their interactions. A good read.

The lone survivor.
This book is a quick read and well-written and I enjoyed it but the book did not draw me in. The author was a little off on her research this is based on what I know about the crabbing and clam seasons I am from Washington so digging for clam is a fun thing to do so if you like to do that you kind of keep track of the seasons. I did like how the author described the lighthouse and the town it brought to mind some of the areas I have seen on the coast. Max and Lottie were great characters and I am very interested in reading what comes next in the series. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
