Anthony Peardew is the keeper of lost things. Forty years ago, he carelessly lost a keepsake from his beloved fiancée, Therese. That very same day, she died unexpectedly. Brokenhearted, Anthony sought consolation in rescuing lost objects—the things others have dropped, misplaced, or accidently left behind—and writing stories about them. Now, in the twilight of his life, Anthony worries that he has not fully discharged his duty to reconcile all the lost things with their owners. As the end nears, he bequeaths his secret life’s mission to his unsuspecting assistant, Laura, leaving her his house and and all its lost treasures, including an irritable ghost.
Recovering from a bad divorce, Laura, in some ways, is one of Anthony’s lost things. But when the lonely woman moves into his mansion, her life begins to change. She finds a new friend in the neighbor’s quirky daughter, Sunshine, and a welcome distraction in Freddy, the rugged gardener. As the dark cloud engulfing her lifts, Laura, accompanied by her new companions, sets out to realize Anthony’s last wish: reuniting his cherished lost objects with their owners.
Long ago, Eunice found a trinket on the London pavement and kept it through the years. Now, with her own end drawing near, she has lost something precious—a tragic twist of fate that forces her to break a promise she once made.
As the Keeper of Lost Objects, Laura holds the key to Anthony and Eunice’s redemption. But can she unlock the past and make the connections that will lay their spirits to rest?
A charming, clever, and quietly moving novel of of endless possibilities and joyful discoveries that explores the promises we make and break, losing and finding ourselves, the objects that hold magic and meaning for our lives, and the surprising connections that bind us.

I’m such a sucker for books with lots of “random happenings” that get tied up with a neat bow at the end! It’s not always nice and happy, but things are explained and questions are answered.
I love the premise, a gentleman who finds abandoned things and his desire to reunite them with their owners while the woman who is his care taker finds her own purpose while establishing relationships she didn’t know she needed.
This was a quick and easy read that kept me engaged the entire time. It’s sweet with a bit of PNR and an interesting story.
I liked the bit of mystery as the heroine tries to connect the lost things, but also the growth and development of the characters through the book.
Excellent read.
A wonderfully quirky, original novel with characters that just leap out of the pages.
Anthony Peardew is so charming one can’t help but know him from the first.
What an original idea and so well told.
This was a well written quirky story that kept my interest. I won it in a Goodreads giveaway, and might not have chosen it otherwise.
I usually read murder mysteries and don’t choose books that don’t revolve around a murder to be solved; however, occasionally I find a book blurb that piques my interest that strays from that genre and this was one of those. I read an introductory chapter or two of this book and was immediately drawn into the life of the man who was the keeper of lost things. I was fascinated by the characters and the way they became part of the narrative. Much to my amusement there was indeed a mystery to solve, or should I say, many mysteries to solve. (Just not murders) Some were more predictable than others, but I enjoyed them all. I would heartily recommend this book for a beach read or a comfortable relaxing weekend read.
A bit slow but enjoyed reading it
I found this book to be disappointing. The fictional stories the old man had written about lost things were clever but distracting from what I kept waiting for: the protagonist’s ability to return them . After awhile, I just gave up and skimmed.
I enjoyed the characters and the idea of taking such good care of someone else’s things and taking care of yourself as well. It was inspiring.
I enjoyed this book so much. It shows the need for kindness and connection in a way that is not preachy. It made me consider the stories of strangers more than I had previously. It is an easy read–but the book stays with you.
This is a completely enjoyable book. It holds your interest.
Charming book
