Anthony Peardew is the keeper of lost things. Forty years ago, he carelessly lost a keepsake from his beloved fiancée, Therese. That very same day, she died unexpectedly. Brokenhearted, Anthony sought consolation in rescuing lost objects—the things others have dropped, misplaced, or accidently left behind—and writing stories about them. Now, in the twilight of his life, Anthony worries that he has not fully discharged his duty to reconcile all the lost things with their owners. As the end nears, he bequeaths his secret life’s mission to his unsuspecting assistant, Laura, leaving her his house and and all its lost treasures, including an irritable ghost.
Recovering from a bad divorce, Laura, in some ways, is one of Anthony’s lost things. But when the lonely woman moves into his mansion, her life begins to change. She finds a new friend in the neighbor’s quirky daughter, Sunshine, and a welcome distraction in Freddy, the rugged gardener. As the dark cloud engulfing her lifts, Laura, accompanied by her new companions, sets out to realize Anthony’s last wish: reuniting his cherished lost objects with their owners.

An excellent read with wonderful believable characters. I have already recommended it to three of my friends and will likely read it again for sheer pleasure.
All the things I love in a book: mystery, a bit of a ghost story, romance, a beautiful old English house, wonderful characters. A real page-turner. Not to mention the most wonderful Author’s voice. A true literary fiction that didn’t bog down, but flowed. LOVED THIS BOOK.
Really enjoyed this one – it’s a story that you’ll find hard to leave down, the characters are wonderful and it unfolds beautifully!
I truly enjoyed The Keeper if lost things! I liked how the different stories came together. And I loved the characters!
Anthony is the keeper of lost things, including his housekeeper Laura, to whom he leaves his collection of lost things. The story twists and turns through the lives of the main characters, and through the lives of the people who’ve lost the items in Anthony’s collection, and comes full circle with Laura finding the lost thing Anthony treasured most.
A delightful read.
The Keeper of Lost Things is a whimsical tale with some depth. The characters were engaging and the storyline (along with the lost items’ short stories) was intriguing. There were times that I wondered why some characters or stories were included but it all came nicely together in a satisfying ending.
Without a doubt the most charming and daffy book I’ve ever read. It has very British humour so maybe not for everyone, but it had me guffawing out loud on trains and in other public places. It’s also a ghost story and a romance set in the past and the present, all woven together with a hefty dose of imagination. I miss the characters already.
I couldn’t get into this book at all. I found it quite dull and lacked excitement. Very disappointing.
A delightful, light, engaging, and entertaining read. I especially enjoyed the short stories about the lost things, interspersed within the story. The two sets of characters ultimately intersect in a not-so predictable way. The novel changes gradually from realistic to romantic paranormal toward the end, and I had difficulty suspending disbelief because of this switch.
It’s been too long since I read a book that makes me feel like I can not explain it. These are not the type of books I read, and yet it was beautiful and refreshing.
What a wonderful read . Absolutely charming story . Feel good tears to be had .
