Get to know the detective in charge of Copenhagen’s coldest cases in the first electrifying Department Q mystery from New York Times bestselling author Jussi Adler-Olsen.Carl Mørck used to be one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl—who didn’t draw his weapon—blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But … the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of cold cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: a liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead…yet.
Darkly humorous, propulsive, and atmospheric, The Keeper of Lost Causes introduces American readers to the mega-bestselling series fast becoming an international sensation.

A great mystery!!!
Good character development, maybe a bit too depraved but still hard to put down.
A great story. Very hard to put down as the action just kept on coming.
Was really different and very interesting. I love this author.
I started this book and quickly found I wasn’t enjoying it, so I went on to something else.
Terrific! Great story and characters. Loved it!
This entire series is a great read.
The first book of a series. If you like Scandinavian noir, this is your book. Funny and exciting at the same time.
Very engrossing. Couldn’t put it down.
Half way thru….will read this author again!
I love all the books in this series. The characters are quirky and the storyline holds one’s interest.
Grea book !!
Definitely my fav Nordic Noir gang – Dept. Q. Jossi Alder-Olsen is a master at balancing the sardonic detective with the mysterious case and employs a recurring cast far and above anything penned by Nesbø, Kepler et al.
Dept. Q is quirky, funny, deep and nuanced – the perfect backdrop to page-burning nordic cold cases.
Excellent author.
Excellent read. Don’t give up in the first few chapters….all will be revealed and the sequence of the plot will come into focus. Pay attention to the year timeline. Wry humor within a complex mystery….thoroughly enjoyable.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good crime, thriller novel and who likes to laugh — a lot. I am a big fan of Jussi Adler-Olsen and pick up his books as soon as they hit the shelf.
First in an amazing series Read them all!!
