What a lovely story with wonderful positive messages including teamwork, sharing, patience and courage, both with oneself and with others. Zadi and her friends are adorable, and the adults may seem overbearing at times, but they are there to keep everyone safe and happy.
The Jumble Sale is a cute and fun story. We are introduced into the world of misfit monsters. They are quirky and unique but share common interests. They are hunters and are fearful of humans. But it’s the hunting ground that they venture out together to hunt for parts that they can make useful in their lives. “One man’s trash is another’s treasures.”
Zadi is a little zombie, fairy and robot and the adventure she starts out on is easy to follow. Each character is unique in the way they have been created and in their personalities. I am eager to see more form this series and can’t wait find out more adventures they will embark.
Great read for kids and adults.
We meet Zadi and all of the misfit monsters. I loved at the beginning of the books there was a list of misfits and what they were comprised of. Zadi is a smart girl and always finding items she can make things out of. All of the characters were quirky and funny. It may seem like the characters are divided but when it matters they come together to overcome obstacles.
A quirky, fun, original read that will have you chuckling and cheering.
I’d give this book 4.5 stars. This is a super cute book about the Misfit Monster’s. No two of the misfits are the same. Zadi is part fairy, part zombie, and part robot. They live in a small misfit village. They go to the hunting grounds to find things that they need or that they can make into something that they need, but they need to avoid humans. There were strict times they could go hunting, but Zadi decides to break the rules, unfortunately others join her, and they get caught and thrown in the blender (jail). Zadi calls a town hall meeting, and suggests that they be allowed to hunt more often, and then suggests they have a Jumble Sale. Many of the misfits don’t understand what the Jumble Sale is for, so Zadi has to enlighten them. At the beginning of the story, the misfits really didn’t talk to each other, and it seemed like there was a lot of fighting. After the Jumble Sale, they were helping each other and talking to one another. This seems like a great read for maybe 4th graders and middle school age children, or a child with good reading skills. It also seems like a great book for a bedtime story, you could read a chapter or two a night. I enjoyed it, and look forward to reading more of the Misfits Adventures.
I read this book with my middle school daughter and we loved the storyline and the whole idea of this world filled with mismatched beings. We found the characters endearing and the story held your attention as you read through on the adventure of Zadi and her friends.
I read this with my 9 and 11 year old great nieces. They knew what monsters the misfits were and gladly described them to me. They enjoyed it but did seem to tire toward the end of the book. Maybe a few less words would have worked for them.
This story was adorable and fun. We meet Zadi, part zombie, part fairy, and a little bit robot. She came up with what she thought was the perfect plan. Or did she? Zadi and her mixed up friends use what humans throw out. That is until humans stop throwing out anything.
I give this imaginative and unique book four and a half stars. It is full of creative and unique characters. Zadi and her friends have lots of different personalities and I can’t wait to read the next book to see what they get into. The Jumble Sale would be a great read for grades 3 thru middle school.

A fun and cute story for younger children. Lots happen in this short book. Well worth the read.
Great Read.
This was such a sweet book. It is about a community made up of misfit monsters. They are small and live in a place where it’s gated to be protected against humans, and hunt for things that they need from the garbage that humans leave. The hunting hasn’t been going easy lately since the humans are not leaving much. Or they are not going on the right days.
But Zadi who is part Zombie, Fairy, and a little bit of Robot is the one who wants to make a change, and that happens when she breaks the rules. This starts a cycle within the community where they have to want to make changes together or just ruin what they built in the first place.
This book is great to show that even misfit people, who are so different can learn to get along to make a better environment to live in. All it takes is one person to speak out.
