All it took was one frat party for me to notice her. Blair Jensen. Gorgeous. Nerd. With a sharp tongue and give-no-shits attitude. The moment she sneered jock at me I was captivated. Then she poured a beer over my head, and walked away like I was nothing. Nobody turned down Cage Wilder, and I knew then that I had to have her, no matter the consequences. She had bruised my ego, and made me look … and made me look horrible in front of all my football buddies turning me into the laughingstock of the team, so I made a bet with them. They claimed there wasn’t anyone that could bed the icy book nerd, but I knew otherwise.
Forcing my way into her life was easy, but shutting off my feelings after we spent many late nights studying together wasn’t and it didn’t take long for me to discover there was so much more to Blair than what everyone saw.
Sweet, funny as hell, and a believer of happily ever afters.
She sees me for more than a football god, and she doesn’t take any of my shit, but the bet I made still hovers over my head, the money burning in my pocket and I know that if I want more with her I’ll have to tell her the truth… before someone else does.
Question is, will she still want me when she finds out what I did?
This is book six in the North Woods Series and is a complete standalone. It contains mature themes, and sexual content not suitable for all readers.

The Jock was everything I hoped for an more. The chemistry from The Nerd rolled over in to this full length novel. The writing duo delivers a spectacular read full of ups and downs! The characters of Blaire and Cage didn’t change from the prequel and I loved it. This is one not to be missed in the Northwood Series!
I totally loved this book. i have read a few others in this series and this one doesn’t disappoint. Blair is a wonderful character. a quite nerdy girl, trying not to repeat history by keeping the jocks at bay. along comes cage, the cocky jock. seeing his challenge in the book smart girl, he ends up discovering more than a few home truths while exploring a relationship with her. there was humour, witty and sassy comments and sexy football boys. it was a great read
I enjoyed the book. There were similarities with another book in her series. I like books to not be so closely similar when I read. As for someone who doesn’t read every book in a series, this would be a non issue.
The jock and the bookworm……….finding their way together
The Jock is the sixth book in the North Woods University series and is the story of Blair Jensen and Cage Wilder. This is a nice both sometimes annoying story about the two young adults who end up together even when they try not to be. I am middle of the road on this story as I thought it was okay in the end as it was a story that I have read a few times over with just a slight tweak here and there in The Jock.
Cage Wilder is a star football player, but secretly hates playing football, but it is his father’s dream, can he give it up and give up all of his father’s benefits? But when his football scholarship is on the line, he needs a tutor to help bring his grades up. But while at a party, he hits on this nerd and she pours a beer over his head. Can he still be attracted to her after that? Can she really resist his charms?
Blair just wants to keep her scholarship and graduate, and to make money, she tutors other students. But she agrees to go to a party with a friend. Only she can’t find her friend when she gets there, so when she sees Cage Wilder, she knows she has to resist his charms and anything else, he throws at her. But why does he have to be so handsome?? Will their attraction survive football and his father?
This story is filled of their way to each other in the best possible way. This is full of love, lust, romance, mystery, drama and so much more. Will their love be worth fighting for? I received an ARC of this book from the author.
I absolutely LOVED this book!!! LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!! This is probably my most loved book in this series!!! The daring nerd and the jealous and possessive jock !!! I loved this couple because their passion oozed out of the pages of this book. Cage’s jealous behaviors were some of my favorite! My heart also ached for Blaire, she had to go through so much and I’m so happy that she now has someone help her carry her loads
I DEFINETLY recommend this book!!!
An ARC was recieved in exchange for an honest review!!! Thank you!!!
A sweet and steamy story about Blair and Cage. This series flows well and I love that the previous characters make cameos throughout the other books.
Blair was a nerd cooped up in her dorm reading unless she was in class or the library tutoring. She was a virgin determined not to be taken advantage of the way her co-dependant mother was. Cage was the handsome football star who lived in a fine home near campus, owned a truck, played all the girls, and could afford to pay double for tutoring. These two started off on the wrong foot and Cage bet his teammates he could make her fall for him! How does that turn out when he falls for her because she’s the only one that sees the real Cage who hates football? Lots of angst, parties, hot sex, tutoring, more angst caused by coach, dean, parent, old sex partners, etc. You’ll love this book.
The Jock is number 6 in the North Woos University series and this time we get two characters that I absolutely adore. I feel like every time I write a review I just repeat myself. Even though this is a series, you don’t get any repeats and the books are fresh and something new comes out of them. I never feel like I am rereading anything and that is the best thing I can say about these books and the authors.
I won’t give anything away about The Jock other than I would highly recommend this story and the others that come with it.
i totally loved this book. i have read a few others in this series and this one doesn’t disappoint.
How do you both do it? I sit here and read your stories and i fall for each story and the characters. The story and their characters are one in a million. I always enjoy each time you come out with a new one. I feel like I’m in a different world. Like Venus if you get what i mean. Like I’m on a different universe. I can’t wait to read more of your stories they are amazing.
I really liked this book, it had my heart all over the place. I wanted to throw the kindle then hug it. Really great story with angst and chemistry.
I always say JL Beck and Cassandra Hallman never disappoint! The Jock is no exception. Northwood series is one of my favorite new adult series. The story follows Cage and Blair. They are polar opposite‘s. Cage is an athlete and very popular. Blair keeps to herself and is a nerd. Despite all their differences they are drawn to one another. I loved it and was sad when it ended.
I enjoyed Blair and Cage’s story. Both were great and relatable characters. I understood Blair’s need to not be like her mother and the urge to keep guys at a distance. I liked that Cage challenged her to get out of her comfort zone and give love a try. I really liked Cage. He was the Jock but he was really sweet. I loved how hard he fell for Blair and how he stood up for his father. I loved this book and I look forward to stories about the secondary characters
I love the North Wood series. This is Cage and Blair’s story. Cage is a football player, who is cocky, has attitude and sleeps around. He reminds of Remington. Blair is the girl with her nose stuck in the books and doesn’t want to end up like her mother. The first time Cage and Blair meet is at a party. She lets him know exactly how she feels about him. You know what they say about wanting someone you can’t have. Cage decides he is going to seduce her, he just wasn’t planning on falling for her. There is angst, secrets, surprises, family problems and some twists. I don’t want to give too much away, but Josi and Cassy did another amazing job writing this book. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t stop reading it. I have enjoyed all the characters I have met in this series, and it’s always great to see them again. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I love this series of books that can be read as standalones. They just keep getting better. All the emotions are there as usual. If you’re looking for a steamy, sexy read that will make you angry, laugh, and cry then pick this one up.
I was super excited to read The Jock, but sadly, I did expect something more exciting, with more angst, sass and intensity. Don’t get me wrong it was good, but it was just simply a contemporary romance, which is not something I usually go for. I love enemies to lovers trope, but I wanted to see and feel a bit mote build up from their hate to love relationship. However, I still liked it, so I’m giving it 3.75 stars.
It was steamy, full of drama and a bit of humour as well. Personally for me there just was a bit too much mundane drama for my liking, but it was still a solid romance read, so if you enjoy NA contemporary romances then this book is for you.
The Jock didn’t have the usual darkness, suspense or addictive story as it’s usual with books from this author duo. This story was quite vanilla. Cage and Blair were cute together and I was rooting for their HEA.
The best part of this book was the beginning, which I enjoyed a lot as it was very entertaining and a lot of fun. The rest of the book was a cute contemporary college romance with some heart and heat. And the ending made me excited about the possible Mia’s story, so I can’t wait for her story as it has a promise for some steamy darkness and an adventure on the wild side, also Murphy’s story could be fun to read. As always I’m excited for their next books.
Highly recommended to contemporary romance readers (sadly, I prefer dark romance or RomCom, therefore, this was only a good read for me) as it is a sweet enemies-to-lovers romance story with an amazing meet cute.
What happens when a football god and a nerd come together they explode into one of the hottest love stories I’ve ever read.
Cage Wilder can have any girl he wants at any time and when he sees Blair Jensen the gorgeous nerd and he wants her but she’s not interested in him the football jock at all even though he is smoking hot, so at the frat party she dumped a beer on his head and walks away, he is mad as hell and embarrassed and wants revenge on her and so the Bet is born with his teammates to bed the ice queen. But what happens when he falls for her and she for him and he now regrets the bet he made because it could tear them apart. This hot and passionate read will keep you up till late because it’s that good, so enjoy.
I loved this book! It has all the emotions that grab me from the beginning. I loved the fact that Blair and Cage are total opposites. I enjoyed seeing them face their inner selves and grow as their story unfolded. I loved their chemistry together. The push and pull of each other and their peers. How much are you willing to give up to have love and a HEA? These two are put to the rest! To find out what happened check out this book. Highly recommended!

5 STARS
This book was everything and more. It was fun, it was sweet, it was and it was lovely.
The perfect gateway from the dark books that I normally I enjoy.
Cage and Blair were perfect for each other. I loved their chemistry and their attraction. The action of the book went smooth, didn’t give me any heart beats & emotion. Just perfect.
The writing and the action, flawless as usual. J.L Beck & Cassandra Hallman make an AMAZING team togheter. Their stories are beyond good.
I enjoy every book from them.
Can’t wait to read Mia’s and/or Murphys story next.
