A vanished loved one.An ancient evil. And only one woman knows the two are connected. The body count is rising in Cicatrice, Louisiana, though no one can see it—no corpses litter the cobblestone streets as citizen after citizen goes missing. But Chloe Anderson can feel the wrong in the town, a malicious presence that raises the hairs on her neck. But then, Chloe’s always felt things other people … the town, a malicious presence that raises the hairs on her neck. But then, Chloe’s always felt things other people couldn’t. And when her fiancé, Victor, vanishes along with his teenage daughter, her intuition expands into terrifying visions that haunt her waking hours.
Who is the mutilated girl that stalks her from the shadows and vanishes when Chloe tries to speak to her? And are the voices trying to help her, or do they intend to make her disappear like Victor?
Chloe must look deep within herself, summoning the power she’s tamped down since childhood, because the thing that took Victor is an old, vicious darkness, far more ancient than the atrocities that once bloodied the earth of these white-washed plantations.
And if Chloe cannot defeat this evil, not only will she never see her beloved Victor again, but not one single resident will escape Cicatrice alive.
For fans of Stephen King, Nick Cutter, and Thomas Heuvelt, this breathtaking supernatural thriller is a masterfully crafted novel about what horrors might exist on the other side—whether we believe they are there or not.

“The Light or The Dark?”
I am an avid fan of horror genera, movies, books, you name it I love it. I saw this cover and I was determined to read it soon! I decided to make it a vacation read, and read it in the dark while camping last night and boy did it give me the jumpy creeps all through the night. This was such a great read that it stuck with me well after I read it and I love that in a novel, especially dark and twisty ones. I had gone into this with the hopes of getting a little scare but just really getting lost in a creepy world far away from here on my mini-vacation. Yeah, I got a whole lot more than I bargained for! It made its way into the darkest parts of my mind, and had me questioning things going on in the world I am living in not made up.
“I can feel The Dark even now in the coldness whirling around me, though there is no open window, no earthly source for such a breeze. The man in the bed shudders then stills, his breath a thin wheeze, his shirt covered in crimson, so steeped in his own pain he cannot see beyond the tip of his nose. So many exorcisms, and every one ends in defeat. I still hear those lost souls crying sometimes- or the wails of angels admonishing me for my failures. Or perhaps that is my own should, crying out in the night reminding me that my faith is not strong enough to heal anyone.”
The themes of horror, supernatural, good vs. evil, and psychological mind**cks, are a wonderful and well written combination. I refuse to give away any more details of this. It would be a shame to give any spoilers. I can tell you that things boil down to one twisted ending that NO ONE can see coming. Even the most experienced horror junkie!
“The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody has decided not to see.”~ Ayn Randy, The Fountainhead
I loved this paranormal-horror book from beginning to end. It pulled me in right from the beginning. The twists and turns left me sitting on the edge of my seat. This story will make you think about what really good and evil are. It took me on journey of light and dark and a twisted world of ghosts. This author’s attention to details made me feel as if I was right there with the characters and I couldn’t put it down until the end. I highly recommend this book!
Somewhat scary
The Jilted: A Novel by Meghan O’Flynn is an amazing rollercoaster ride of horror and suspense that is guaranteed to make you hide from the dark. Following the story of Chloe, and her personal battle between good and evil. The reader gets to see inside her mind and travel with her while she attempts to understand her nightmares and the hidden meanings in them. Set in New Orleans there is a serious undertone of the occult and darkness and pure evil that surrounds Chloe. It will take everything good inside of her to claw her way back to the light, but can she trust those that are around her? Will the disappearance of her fiancé and his daughter break her? There are so many questions about Chloe’s past and inner demons that the reader has to wade through to get to the truth that this book will keep you guessing for way longer than I had expected. There is something that calls to Chloe, that beckons her into the darkness inside her, but can she give in or is something more sinister at play in her life? I recommend reading this book in one sitting otherwise you will be dying to know how it ends! O’Flynn is a new to me author who I am so happy I took a chance on. Her writing style pulled me in from the first page and didn’t let go until I was beyond the last page. This is definitely a book that will give you a chill and make you run from the dark. If you are looking for a book that will stay with you long after the cover closes than this is one that you need to add to your cart today!
An On The Edge Of Your Seat Read
The Jilted isn’t usually the sort of book I’d read, but I was in the mood for something different and the blurb had caught my interest. I’m so glad that I gave this book a chance. It kept me gripped throughout and I was eagerly turning the pages to see what happened next. Each time I thought I’d got the story figured out, it would take a different direction and leave me wanting more. I’ve never felt goosebumps when reading a book before, but I felt them several times when reading this addictive horror story. This is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last! I love discovering new authors, and this book was a great introduction to Meghan O’Flynn.
The Jilted is a mind blowing horror story by Meghan O’Flynn. It is a supernatural story and it scared the pants off me! I generally do not read horror as I cannot handle it too well (too faint hearted I guess) but reading that she writes in the style of Stephen King, I decided to give a go and man … the story blew my mind!
The main character of the story is Chloe and we follow her on her journey into the nightmare and I am telling you, the ending throws you for a loop! The nightmare is filled with drama, darkness, evil …. I suggest you do not read this story in the evening in the dark! You will start listening for every weird sound and you will be checking over and over again if your door is locked and …
I think you could say that the main theme of the story is the battle between the evil and good and it is a battle that we all fight day in and out … hopefully we do not need to go as far as it went in the story … it will mess with your mind though so be aware … I wish you luck with keeping things straight and figuring it all out!
Not what I expected! I love scary movies and this book put me on edge. I didn’t want to put it down. It kept me glued to the pages as I read. It was a little scarier than I expected but in such a good way. You see and feel the fear as you uncover hidden secrets that could keep you up at night. I have never read anything by this author and I feel like I should read some more by her she has an amazing talent. She keeps the detail amazing she knows how to draw a reader in.
Have you ever cracked the binding of a book based only on the title and expected something completely different than what is actually written? That’s what happened to me with THE JILTED.
This is a classic haunted story set in modern times with a heavy presence from the past. The beginning was a bit confusing with the introduction of the major players. Only a few pages in and I turned on my night light.
This story reminded me of Stephen King’s earlier books. Scary and edgy with a story that holds its own. What should be historic, charming things – are not. One should ALWAYS trust their intuition.
This book was a nice departure from the rom-com kick I’ve been on and I recommend it (to be read during the day ).
The Jilted: A Novel
By Meghan O’Flynn
This story will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. This story is full of suspense, twists and turns and is a very dark read. It will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. I love when an author can keep me guessing and raise my heartbeat. I really liked this author’s writing style. This story wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, it was so much better. I found myself talking to Chloe, the main character, telling her to be careful and trust no one. That’s when I knew I was hooked. This is the first book I have read by this author and it will not be the last. I loved the thrilling suspenseful moments I was able to feel while reading this story. I couldn’t put it down until I found out what the outcome was going to be. I give this book 5 stars. I recommend this unpredictable great read.

I am an avid ‘going in blind’ book reader so color me surprised when i read this amazing story.
I have a love/hate for scary movies, but reading about them makes them more real to me as its able to trick my brain more. And wow, this book and its characters just had me trying to flip more pages. I really enjoyed this book for its style of writing and its ability to hook me in even when i wanted to cover my eyes and stop.
Thank you for this book, ill be looking for more from this author.
I give The Jilted: A Novel by Meghan O’Flynn, 4 stars.
Chloe thought her fiance was losing his mind, talking about demons. But ever since he disappeared, she can no longer be sure. She has been experiencing things that question everything she has ever known. Not to mention it seems that there really are evil things out there. Can she stop whatever is going on? And what price does she have to pay?
This is one of those books that messes with your mind, and does such a superb job at it. You will be second guessing everything yourself as you delve deeper into this crazy world. The story is a little hard to get into at first, but that is the point. You are dealing with a woman who doesn’t even know herself if she’s losing her mind. Once you get into it a bit, you will follow it better and not be able to put it down until the end. But good luck figuring everything out — there are so many twists and turns in this story, you will be dizzy by the time you finish it.
This is a perfectly written book of psychological horror and I highly recommend it.
What an experience The Jilted by Meghan O’Flynn has been. I absolutely detest watching scary movies. But reading them? It gives me some sort of thrill and I can’t get enough of it. The feeling and suspense that it leaves me with is what I live for.
I was completely amazed by the authors ability to create such a believable world, with a worthy storyline as well as characters. Seriously, the emotions that this book elicited out of me were astounding. I literally sat on the edge of my seat, feeling a thrill, fear and waiting to watch as the drama unraveled.
I don’t think that there are words to describe this book, other than to say – HURRY UP and read it. Be prepared to get spooked, and make sure that you look behind your shoulders. I know I definitely did several times. I definitely consider this a 5 Star Book. So looking forward to experiencing more of this author.
This is not a genre I normally pick up. However this book grabs your attention immediately and doesn’t let go. Many twists and turns. A really well-written suspense that has me reading as fast as I could to find out what happened next. Definitely would recommend to others.

I have to admit I am not one for scary films, I usually dream about them for days afterwards and that why I usually shy away from books that I know will get under my skin but I read the blurb for this book and thought I would give it a go – I am so glad that I did! I thoroughly enjoyed being scared by the words that I was reading. This book kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end; it had twist, turns, great characters and an eerie storyline that I loved!
This is the first book that I have read by this author and she has definitely opened my eyes to a new genre. I loved her writing style, it was so engaging and pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me out until the end.

I was not expecting this story to be this good. I don’t usually do horror so getting into this book was an experience. The author has you hooked from the beginning. The details are spot on and just wow. He left to protect her but it destroyed her instead. Why is New Orleans the city of horror? The author had chills going up and down my spine. I don’t know what I would do if I start to hear a voices beckoning me. The demonic moments were too much but the rest of the book was amazing. I will be checking out more from this author. Chloe is our main character we follow her in the wake of her being left by her fiancé. With him he not only took her heart but his daughter as well. I’m just in shock by how much I enjoyed the story when I don’t watch scary movies without watching Disney afterwards.
Ok so first off this isn’t usually something i would read but oh my goodness I’m soooo glad i did! Holy moly this will have you biting your nails and leave you on the edge of your seat its full of suspense, drama, intense emotions, it’s incredibly dark and twisted it will boggle your brain and nothing is predictable amazing storyline! I’m still in awe after reading this it’s full of evil and at times i had shivers going up and down my spine but that is a sign of unforgettable novel! It will leave you absolutely wanting more and i can defiently say i can’t wait to read more from this author brilliant!

I’m actually giving this book 4 stars because the storyline itself just isn’t something I would normally enjoy and although I wouldn’t put it down once I was invested in it I was still very glad when it ended LOL If that makes sense..I’m a big baby when it comes to horror and I didnt really pay attention when I read the synopsis.
But in saying all of that, the 5 stars I gave this book are because this author is amazing and did a brilliant job in her story telling, and anyone that loves a good horror book or movie or whatever I’m thinking would absolutely love this story!!
In saying all of that, because of how this story was told and the awesome flow I definitely want to look into what else this author has available, but the next one I will definitely be reading the synopsis a bit better 🙂
5 Stars
Ok, this is definitely not what I was expecting! It was so much more! Better than I could ever have anticipated! The Jilted by Meghan O’Flynn is a brilliant paranormal story- full of suspense, drama, darkness, emotion, intensity, good vs evil, supernatural themes, and some elements of horror. I admit there were times I had my hands over my eyes- reading through the spaces between my fingers. I was on the edge of my seat, just about ready to jump out of my skin, wondering why I was still reading it because the story had really gotten under my skin- I couldn’t put it down, and I loved every unpredictable moment of it.
I recommend going into this story somewhat ‘blind’ and allowing the author and story to blow-your-mind! But I will say that I started reading this at night, with only my reading lamp on, and as the night progressed and I became hyper aware of the story and every tiny little noise that was happening within a 2-mile radius, that I ended up with every light on in the house….
Awesome!
Thank you, Ms. O’Flynn!
The Jilted: A Novel by Meghan O’Flynn is a paranormal horror book that is fantastic. I know how can you say horror fantastic, well let me tell you that Meghan is a outstanding author. She does an amazing job keeping your focus on aspect of the story while building the back story for a twist and turn you did not even see coming. The setting of this story is in New Orleans which is a perfect city to write a story of horror theme. All of the ghosts, goblins, and other creatures recently that have been placed in New Orleans not to mention the voodoo and dark magic that is written about there. The story The Jilted: A Novel by Meghan O’Flynn is a book in the horror genre and one that I loved reading. It is a thrilling supernatural story that will give you chills up and down your spine as you try to uncover mysteries to events that are happening. I love when authors set their stories in New Orleans. I never tire of reading about this city and find myself drawn to stories and the atmosphere that is created. The main character in the story is Chloe. I found her to be an interesting character to read about. You read about her emotions and her thoughts about the disappearance of her fiancé and his daughter, her doubts, and also her past. There are so many questions when it comes to Chloe and her current situation. Chloe begins to hear something calling to her. Is that something good or evil? Is something asking for her help or are things not all that they seem to be? Will Chloe find her fiancé and his daughter? This is a suspenseful book which includes twists and turns along the way. A page-turner that I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. The story is wonderfully written and includes characters that you will not soon forget.
