A vanished loved one.An ancient evil. And only one woman knows the two are connected. The body count is rising in Cicatrice, Louisiana, though no one can see it—no corpses litter the cobblestone streets as citizen after citizen goes missing. But Chloe Anderson can feel the wrong in the town, a malicious presence that raises the hairs on her neck. But then, Chloe’s always felt things other people … the town, a malicious presence that raises the hairs on her neck. But then, Chloe’s always felt things other people couldn’t. And when her fiancé, Victor, vanishes along with his teenage daughter, her intuition expands into terrifying visions that haunt her waking hours.
Who is the mutilated girl that stalks her from the shadows and vanishes when Chloe tries to speak to her? And are the voices trying to help her, or do they intend to make her disappear like Victor?
Chloe must look deep within herself, summoning the power she’s tamped down since childhood, because the thing that took Victor is an old, vicious darkness, far more ancient than the atrocities that once bloodied the earth of these white-washed plantations.
And if Chloe cannot defeat this evil, not only will she never see her beloved Victor again, but not one single resident will escape Cicatrice alive.
For fans of Stephen King, Nick Cutter, and Thomas Heuvelt, this breathtaking supernatural thriller is a masterfully crafted novel about what horrors might exist on the other side—whether we believe they are there or not.

Four Stars
The Jilted by Meghan O’Flynn is a mystery/ suspense/ paranormal horror novel you will not be able to put down. The twists and turns had me thinking “What is going to happen next” numerous times throughout this book. I really love a book that will keep you guessing until the end, and that is exactly what this book does. This is the first book I have read by Ms. O’Flynn, but definitely won’t be the last. I Truly enjoy a good horror book every once in a while, and this definitely doesn’t disappoint.
The Jilted: A Novel by Meghan O’Flynn is a book that will keep you guessing from start to finish.
When Chloe’s fiancé disappeared she starts having nightmares. The same one each night. She is convinced that they are a sign on how to find him.
When she stumbles across his camera in a shop downtown she is sure that it is another sign. She takes a job there hoping that she will uncover some clue or to see him.
But things just start to get more and more strange when she is sent to do an appraisal. Chloe begins to wonder what is happening to her – and how it relates to Victor’s disappearance.
This is the first book I have read by Meghan and I didn’t know at all what to expect. The blurb of this book had intrigued me and he story definitely lived up to the expectation. There seemed to be twists and turns on each page that kept me guessing right to the end. I found myself reading faster so that I could find out what had happened. The writing pulled me in immediately and with ease. This was a very good introduction to this author, I cannot wait to read more of her work.
This book wasn’t quite what I was expecting. If you like horror stories you will like this book.

This book is full of mystery, drama, and suspense all with a realistic take on the supernatural as a background. The plot was so full of twists and turns that I felt like I never knew what to expect and that’s the best feeling ever. This story is mind blowing that’s all there is to it. The plot and characters were well written and kept me turning pages and I have to give this a solid four star rating. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a a great mysterious book.
The Jilted

4 out of 5 stars
They say never judge a book by it’s cover, but I was drawn to The Jilted at first for that very reason. Below the service The Jilted drew me in from the very beginning with it’s descriptive nature. While I thought the storyline was strong I was truly roped in by the imagery throughout! The descriptions of each character and event were so strong I felt as though I was watching a movie as the images came to life.
I always enjoy when books toggle between past and present for the full picture, another strong point of this novel.
This was the first book I’ve read by Meghan Flinn but based on the strong imagery I would definitely be interested in reading more.
The Jilted- Meghan O’Flynn
4-star review
The Jilted by Meghan O’Flynn is a story that had me sitting on the edge of my seat from start to finish. This story is dark, twisted, haunting and so full of evil! I have never read a book quite like this on, this author took me on an emotional roller coaster ride with this intense storyline! Everything is so brilliantly detailed which painted such a clear picture in my head, which certainly made it an entertaining read as Meghan vividly describes scenes that will probably give me nightmares.
I loved how absolutely terrifying this storyline is and how I was able to get so lost in the story that I forgot about the outside world and read this book in one sitting. This is certainly a story that I would recommend to anyone looking for a truly shocking and unforgettable read.
I look forward to reading more of Meghan’s work in the future!!

This was my first Book by this author but it is definitely not my last.
The Jilted: A Novel by Meghan O’Flynn is a haunting tale set in New Orleans. The story is haunting and kept me reading to find out what was going on. The main character Chloe has people who have gone missing in her life. Is it something temporary or is something more sinister at play? There is a great atmosphere in the city and a plantation that guides the story and helps to form the characters. At times I was caught off guard because I thought the story was going one way and then found out I was wrong. This is my first book by this author and I was impressed. She wrote characters that carried the story and made me care about what was going on. I am glad I picked up this book and will be looking out for more of her books to read.
The Jilted by Meghan O’Flynn is a cleverly crafted and twisted horror story. Creepy? You betcha. Terrifying? Yep. Scary? Oh yeah. Meghan has created an intriguing story that sets you on a journey in a world that has more than your normal ghosts and a demonic presence that many have succumbed to. Reading this book may take away your sanity as you try to guess what is going on, but you find yourself giving up as you try to peel back the many layers of good vs evil, dark vs light. Beware, this is not a bedtime story.
Just finished reading this book and all I can say is WOW it has lot’s of twist’s and turn’s but it kept my interest all the way through the book…I definitely love Meghan O’Flynn’s writing..
Hard for me to get into the story
The ending was strange but I did enjoy the book. I already recommend it to a few friends!
I started reading this because it sounded like something from the thriller era of Stephen King. I found it more than a little disturbing. There were parts that seemed to just be thrown in for shock value and not cohesive to the story. I did finish it because I hate leaving books midway but as soon as I did, I deleted it from my device and reprimanded myself for wasting precious time reading it. Definitely not one I would recommend or ever want to read again.
It had an interesting twist but I felt it was completely redundant.
Man I don’t know what’s worse, knowing how this ends or loving how this ends. This author weaves such a twisted mindf$uck of a story that you can’t possibly guess what’s going on until you’re told. The things the mind can convince you of. The twisted thinkings of a lost soul. The lies we tell ourselves about situations and incidents. What’s really real and what’s just in your heads. The battle between good and evil is something we will war against til the end of days. The individual battles will be on a smaller scale but does that make them any less critical. Chloe is in the midst of a battle. In order to figure out what type of battle you will need to read this for yourself.
With this author things are rarely what they seem and this book is no different. As I was reading I was glad it wasn’t one of those dark blustery nights when the house is making noises it isn’t supposed to. Yea it’s that kind of read. The kind that makes you hyper aware of everything and every sound. Awesome read.
If you like horror, well you have come to the right book in The Jilted. This is a supernatural thriller story that has it all. It is not for someone who gets scared easily. You will want to tell Chole Anderson to “Watch out!” but, it will be too late. This is a great story…..but not for bedtime reading. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. The review is my own opinion. If you like Stephen King….you’ll like this book too!
