Description of the books in this Trilogy…
THE RECKONING starts out this western series with the adventures of Jess Williams. He is an ordinary young boy with a loving family growing up in Black Creek, Kansas. That all changes when he comes home and finds his family brutally murdered. Forced to become a man overnight, he vows to avenge his family’s savage deaths.
He begins to practice with his pa’s Colt .45 and then a stroke of destiny arrives when he discovers a new pistol and holster that mysteriously appears. Jess practices with it relentlessly until he becomes so quick that he is truly unbeatable on the draw. He leaves home transformed from a boy to a highly skilled shootist with no reason to live except to hunt down and kill each of the men responsible for the murders. As he begins his journey, he does so with a pistol and holster that no one has ever seen before—and won’t again for almost one-hundred years.
In BROTHER’S KEEPER, Jess Williams returns home to Black Creek, Kansas, after hunting down and killing the three men who brutally murdered his family. When he arrives, he finds himself in the midst of a bloody war with Dick Carter and his hired guns. Carter wants revenge for the death of his only son, Red, and Jess is the one who did the killing. Jess’s first job is to eliminate Carter and his hired guns and then finish his search for the brother he never knew he had.
SINS OF THE FATHER has Jess hunting down his real father, Eddie Sloan. After two years, he finally has him in his sight when a desperate call for help comes in from U.S. Marshal Frank Reedy. Jess answers the call for help and heads for Timber, Texas, and straight into a bloody range war between two cattle barons. Rance Madden and his hired guns have no idea of the trouble heading their way. Jess arrives and men start dying one by one. Madden begins to feel the grip of death at his throat—and Jess is slowly tightening the noose.

A bit far out but a fun and easy read. It is unpredictable entertaining.
I have read all 70 some books of the Jesse Williams series. I have read though the whole series at least 3 times. I don’t usually read westerns. I just can’t put it down.
The author writes a very engrossing story and kept me awake nights to read just one more chapter.
Once you get past the unreal parts, not a bad story. First book was the better of the three.
I love all of the Jess Williams books. This last one, Double Trouble, was great. Can’t wait for the next one!
I am big fan of westerns and enjoyed reading Jess Williams 3 books even though I hated to see him kill his brother and father. He did kill men who needed killing. I will probably read more of these books when they come up on my “free reading” or inexpensive reading lists.
Excellent among modern-day written westerns. Thumbs up on these stories.
I loved this Trilogy of Jess Williams. I have always enjoyed “Westerns” but this was right up there with John Wayne movies. I could “see” the story unfold through the eyes of the author. Wonderful!
One of the best Westerns I have read in a long while. If you don’t like this one you really don’t like Westerns.
Enjoy the read, I would almost guarantee an enjoyable time that just puts you back in time.
Great Western trilogy. Since reading these three I’ve bought three additional books in the series and plan to read more of them. A terrific protagonist and good depiction of the old West.
Seems like there is a killing in every chapter, so it’s a bit unrealistic. But the concept is original and it’s not a bad read if you like westerns.
I have read 21 books in this series and I plan to read them all.
Jess Williams is a likeable character even though he’s a little bit like an 1880’s super man. An enjoyable read.
Should be added to the list of Great Westerns
What to say about a six shooter that went from current times to the old west and became a killing machine for a good bounty hunter! Intriguing and with a ending you would not believe.
I was sorry to finish it, I wanted more. The characters were engaging, the plots, believable and the writing- excellent.
Another plus (in my humble opinion) was the lack of vulgarity.
I highly recommend this author for a satisfying read.
Good read with a lot of action.
Every Jess Williams book I have read has been absolutely amazing
Great set of story’s covering the life of a western action “hero” that is quite different from others in the genre. Highly recommended to read all 3 as a series as they fit together very nicely.
Fantastic. Reminds me of my youth when the good cowboys were King. Great read of white hats over black hats, and very entertaining. Could not put it down. A great Western at its best!
