How do such bumbling characters survive the opening credits? Interesting premise but the main characters stumble along and survive impossible situations and only the nice guy gets killed. Still, the basic premise is very interesting. especially if you have read Stephen Ambrose’s Undaunted Courage.
this was about unlocking a secret that dated back to Thomas Jefferson and Lewis of Lewis and Clark. There is a secret society that is divided on what to do about the secret and it leads to murder.
If one were in the mood for long-winded description this book might be ok. However, where I am sure the author intended to build suspense and drama, I found his approach to be totally annoying and found myself asking him to get to the point. I knew I was in trouble when I started to scan the pages instead of reading them and finally just gave up as not worth it. Sorry.
A good who done it, who did it, decoding a historical secret of a read!
Might be a better read as part of the series, but as a one-off novel I felt like the author spent too much time trying to remind the reader of history from other novels. That’s either a waste of time for folks who’ve read them, or a lacking effort for those of us who haven’t, since they didn’t do much to add depth to the relationships.
I enjoyed the book but it was a little disjointed with all the different sub-stories.
I enjoyed this book.
Not sure what to say here. This is not the first Thacker book I have read but probably the last. Solid characters, but weak story line with action sequences that seem disjointed. Book seemed to be nothing more than a “make sure you read my next book to get the rest of the story” kind of focus.
Well-written with an interesting plot. The characters are written so that you come to care about them.
I enjoyed this book a lot. The plot and characters all flowed very well.
Maybe because this isn’t the first book in a series, but the first one I read, I couldn’t get into it.
Good adventure and not predictable outcome. I enjoyed the historical reference but found some of the action sequences unbelievable.
I did not care for this book. It was too hard to follow. Situations seemed to be repeated. I did hot finish this book
Wanted to like this book. Thought the premise was interesting. Unfortunately it took forever to get anywhere. The characters were not believable nor convincing.
A good read, I read it in one setting. Retirement allows me to fully enjoy a good story!
Good main character
Awful
weak story line;dragged on &on
A good read…a little different twist on the whodunit stories
Plot was previously written.
