Evil tree. Bad Apple? Twenty years ago, all the evil villains were banished from the kingdom of Auradon to the Isle of the Lost–a dark and dreary place protected by a force field that makes it impossible for them to leave. Stripped of their magical powers, the villains now live in total isolation, forgotten by the world. Mal learns from her mother, Maleficent, that the key to true darkness, the … darkness, the Dragon’s Eye, is located inside her scepter in the forbidden fortress on the far side of the island. The eye is cursed, and whoever retrieves it will be knocked into a deep sleep for a thousand years. But Mal has a plan to capture it. She’ll just need a little help from her “friends.” In their quest for the Dragon’s Eye, these four kids begin to realize that just because you come from an evil family tree, being good ain’t so bad.

I tink of this book as inspiring to kids all around world who read it because it shows kids who are bad to other people that they can change from bad to good like the characters in this book.
Goood all the characthers are diffrent from each other
I watched the Disney Channel movie Descendants with my kids. Having read the Blue Bloods series by this author, I was sure I would enjoy reading this book that was the inspiration for that movie. As it turns out, this book is sort of like a prequel to the movie. It introduces us to the main characters, and shows us what life was like on the Isle of the Lost before the events of Descendants.
I’m a very big Disney fan, and so I really enjoyed reading about the children of the famous characters that I grew up loving. I am also a fan of retold or “twisted” fairy tales and found it interesting to see the stories from the villains point of view. And while this book was obviously written for children and young adults, I found that it was entertaining and kept my attention even being the adult and parent that I am.
I would recommend this book to fans of the movie Descendants, fans of Disney in general, and fans of the fantasy and fairy tale genres. I think that adults who are into those things would enjoy this book, but I also think it’s perfect for the Middle School age bracket.
I LOVED this book!! It described what life was like on the isle vividly and what was expected of the villians in training!!
The best book EVER! I love it so much. Can’t wait to see the Second one.
I read this with my sister.
The villains from the fairy tales are sent to an island prison. While they are there, they get married and have kids. The story is about the kids. 4 of the “villain kids” are allowed to go to Aradon Prep school.
My favorite character was Carlos. He’s Cruella’s son, and he’s really smart.
My sister liked Jay best. (I think she thought he was cute.)
I don’t understand why kids would be on an island, though, with only garbage to eat. That doesn’t seem fair.
But they made this into a Disney movie after we read it, and it is different than the book, but my mom said that happens a lot. That books and movies are different. Weird.
it was great
OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! I know this book is for teenagers but I don’t even care.
Isle of the lost is the first book in the Descendants series. This book is a prequel to the Disney channel original movie, Decendants. ***I will leave the reading/watching order list at the very bottom of this review.*** At the beginning of the book, we learn that all of Disney’s villains have been banished out of the kingdom of Auradon to the Isle of the Lost. The Isle of the Lost has all the villains and their children enclosed by an invisible magical dome. The Isle is dirty, depressing and despicable. There is no magic and no way to leave……well there may be on way…..or so they think.
Mal, daughter of Maleficent: Jay, son of Jafar: Evie, daughter of The Evil Queen: and Carlos, Son of Cruella De Vil has learned that Maleficent’s Dragon Eye Staff is hiding in the Forbidden Fortress. Their mission is to travel to the Forbidden Fortress, collect the Staff and return it to Maleficent in hopes of escaping the dreaded Isle Of The Lost.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK! The story was very well executed and thought out. Seriously, it takes a BRILLIANT mind to think of all the details to this story. I really found myself submerged in this book. I COULD NOT STOP READING!!!!! I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT ELSE THIS SERIES HAS TO OFFER!!
