Becky Sawyer’s life unravels in a single day. Not only does she catch her boyfriend, the man she hoped to marry, lip-locked with another woman, she also receives the gut-wrenching news that her grandfather, the man who raised her, is dying. His last wish? To see her happily married. Heartbroken, Becky seeks inspiration in the pages of the Holy Scriptures. And finds it in the story of Isaac and … Rebekah.
If love couldn’t keep his parents together, Luke Masterson wonders what will make a marriage last. He decides to steer clear of all women—especially crazy ones like Becky Sawyer, who employs a friend to find her a husband. But when he feels the dogged promptings of the Holy Spirit to move across the country and marry a complete stranger, it seems love has little to do with it anyway.
With commitment their only foundation, and love constantly thwarted, can an arranged marriage find happiness in the twenty-first century?

I wasn’t sure what I would think of this contemporary romance based on the biblical story of Issac and Rebekah. Arranged marriages aren’t exactly an American tradition, but the idea did intrigue me. At first, the story was a little slow, but as the story progressed I found myself wanting to know how the main characters, Luke and Becky, were going to work through an arranged marriage to a marriage of trusting love. I admire Luke’s character as he made the choice to love, and how he handled the challenges of Rebekah’s reluctance to love and her fiercely independent spirit. Choosing to love isn’t easy and this story offers some realistic glimpses into what it means to love for better or worse, and in life or death situations. The story has a sweet ending which will satisfy romantic hearts. I look forward to adding more Sarah Monzon books to my TBR list. (Note: I purchased an ebook edition of The Issac Project after reading Bookishly Ever After.)
Terrific
This a wonderful story of how you can use stories from bible to help in a modern world. Becky found her boyfriend cheating, and turned to her bible and friend four help. She lives in CA. Lisa is the friend to help because her boyfriend is going to get his cousin Luke to meet Becky. Luke lives in MI. There is just a deadline. Becky’s grandpa is gravely I’ll.
I liked reading this book. I loved the unusual story line for modern time.
Easy read. Enjoyed very much
If you know the biblical Jacob story, this modern Jacob is wonderful. Where do I find him? This is one of my favorite books that I have found for my Kindle and I read a lot.
This book held my attention. Loved it.
Good insight into the real meaning of love and marriage.
I loved, loved, loved, loved (did I mention, love?) this novel! It was absolutely amazing! It was fabulously written with amazing Biblical reflection being interweave through the entire piece. If you have never read or heard of the love story between Isaac and Rebekah, you will have after reading this wonderful tale.
“The Isaac Project” was a beautiful, modern tale version of a popular Biblical story. In this novel, we find Rebekah looking for her ‘Isaac,’ instead of ‘Isaac’ looking for his Rebekah; however, this does not stop this resilient young lady from finding the man that God has destined for her.
Can Becky and Luke make a marriage work, while also being two strangers? Can they trust that God has everything planned for their good according to His purpose? Will this work or are they destined to fail? Only faith in God above can take a relationship such as this and turn it into praise to Him alone!
A great book with i inspiring situations showing the importance of communication. Keeping in mind also that a relationship can occur in many different ways.
Simply wonderful!
Faith builds your godly character
Easy read. Lots of emotion and not where you would expect it.
Characters not well developed, but sweet romance
Plot and timeline were underdeveloped
Great faith-based book. The premise is that if Isaac could wait on his beloved, even when tricked and arranged for him, why can we not do the same? A fleece (test) of having someone else find her a husband was put out by the female characters. Her many stipulations get met, one by one. But does she even like this man, much less can she grow to love him?
Great story and comparison with Bible history. Very moving in the lives of characters and their life and loses. I enjoyed this great read and page turner.
Great story with believable characters.
Sweet, clean romance with an different twist. Enjoyable afternoon read.
I enjoyed this book. It was a different than what I had thought it would be. At first I wasn’t sure how they were going to accomplish what they set out to, however, I’ll just let you read the book. I don’t want to give any of it away.
Just so incredibly… Not believable. Sweet, but no way.
